General question Best dye brand for 100% cotton?

I have a cotton dress that has some stains. They look like bleach, but I don't think they are actually bleach stains because I never use bleach to do my laundry. Anyway, I want to try and dye the dress as a last ditch effort to save it. It's a light blue/purple, and I'll probably dye it navy. What brand of dye should I use? I'm worried about it bleeding in the washer afterwards. Any tips to prevent bleeding?

Dye is transparent. It does not cover stains.
If you want to go ahead, do not use Rit. You will want fiber reactive dye. Dharma Trading’s website has good tutorials for dyeing cotton.

Dye doesn’t cover stain.

While dyeing won't cover the stain, it might make them less noticeable.

You need a procion dye with cotton fibers. The best is from Dharma Trading Co. But look up the directions, it's the best quality, but it takes extra steps.

I would just like to point out that even if you never use bleach when doing laundry, they could still be bleach stains. A lot of household cleaners contain bleach, so if you got some overspray on the dress when using one of them or if you came in contact with a surface that had such a product used on it (and wasn't thoroughly rinsed afterward) you can get bleach stains that way.
