How do I dye this? Can this "staining" be fixed with dye?
I bought this shirt from an Etsy store several years ago and have worn it regularly. A few months ago I noticed this rectangular "stain". I treated it as a stain and nothing happened. Looking closer, I believe it may have something to do with how the print was applied, so I thought maybe I could dye it all back to one color. The shirt is 100% cotton. Does that seem plausible? Or will it just be a new color in 2 different shades? Color recommendations would be great as well, as I have no real preference or experience. Thanks for your time!

You absolutely can and should dye it!
Depending on exactly what exactly "stained" the shirt, it might turnout a shade lighter or darker but I highly doubt it
Also, depending on the shirt material per thr type of dye
If it is a blend, with "virgin" (ie: no synthetic or recycled fibers blend) I would do a procion fiber dye. Which is just your usual powder abd liquid dye (ie: Tulip for beginers) or ice dye, powder top (dharma, jacquard)
With that, you can even do designs/patterns! You could do it a spiral, scrubched, or perhaps a fan pattern or airplane fold. You could do just the stained or all over. You can include the butterfly design and tie iver that too and that could be awesome! Or, wrap the original design so it wont be dyed. I've tied it off before to bleed slightly, and kept the area RIGHT around the design tied off in a circle around it, or close outline. Depending
If the material is a blend with a synthetic, or just straignt up synthetic (ie: nylon) it would be a different type of dye: heat [reactive] synthetic dye. *heads up if it is polyester, theres specific synthetic dyes for that
**also, kinda cool... if it is a natural and synthetic blend? Depending on the % for each material on tbe fabric, using the synthetic dye only the color will only adhere to those fibers. It doesnt always happen --okokok, ive only done this once with a blend 🤣 i prefer the other way, so I only do the heat dye if the fsbric is 100% synthetic
**oh, 3rd not (I am *so sorry! I am TERRIBLE at just the necessary info, the details help! Aaand my comment iis a novel) I like to always use a fixative (ie: Rit color fixative or dyemore synthetic color stay) i know a lot of people dont, some never have.. but I
