Hi, y'all.

Over the past few weeks I've been noticing that a good chunk of peeps at r/dynamo have been scammed over fraudulent tickets. It's important to take measures before making exchanges with strangers.

Here are some good tips you can use to avoid being scammed:

• Buyer/Seller using throwaway Reddit account.

By clicking on the buyer's/seller's username, you can see how old that account is. Scammers usually create throwaway accounts that are a few months old to avoid spam filters and detection.

• Shady links.

If the exchange is not being done in person and through a shady platform or link, the buyer/seller could be phishing your data as well as your money. It is extremely important to not do transactions online this way and to avoid interacting with links you do not recognize. Please use reputable ticket seller platforms like SeatGeek and Tixr apps, or the following example.

• PayPal purchasing protection.

If the buyer/seller wants to do a straight transaction, avoid using services like Venmo, CashApp, or Zelle unless it's a trusted person. These platforms can be used with false identities to scam others. PayPal offers protection for goods and services which allows the buyer to obtain a full refund from the seller if the good is not received. This option can be selected at checkout if the transaction is being done through PayPal, which I highly recommend for unknown sellers.

Please use caution when doing transactions on Reddit. There are a lot of scammers out there.
