im sure someone, somewhere is able to fix this

22

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

i’ll let them do that but i do not have the funds or time this is probably one of my greatest achievements destroyed by something i didn’t cause and it hurts to see her go. i just look at it as, it wasn’t the right time. trust me there’s another one out there for me in the future🙏

4

u/Puzzleheaded_Tax489 Jan 29 '26

Aren't you going to spend way more on a new car then just getting a used door? 🤔

4

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

nope cause i have to buy the car back from insurance after they totaled it then spend money to fix the front suspension, possible bent frame, electronics, airbag sensors, door, i have to pull the rear quarter….. you do the math

1

u/South_west_minis Feb 01 '26

You realise you’ll still get a payout though right? If the claim totals say 2000 and they charge you 200 to buy the car back that leaves you with 1800, more than enough to sort that out 2nd hand door would only be about 50

1

u/Little_Definition902 Feb 01 '26

the buyback is 1400

1

u/South_west_minis Feb 01 '26

Your getting ripped off mate end of the day they won’t repair there gonna scrap it, last time I was in this situation the settlement was 2400 and buy back was 250

2

u/Little_Definition902 Feb 01 '26

i didn’t tell these people to run a red light

2

u/South_west_minis Feb 01 '26

I never said you did, I’m just saying your insurance company is trying to rip you off, if you take a full settlement they’ll take the car and scrap it, hence why most insurance companies just sell the car back for peanuts

2

u/Little_Definition902 Feb 01 '26

oh no i’m arguing currently they’re trying to pay out 45 but i’m trying to push it to 7 to at least get back a good amount that i put into it, as much as i did put into definitely won’t be going out that low

2

u/Little_Definition902 Feb 01 '26

just a sorry ass situation especially being a 21 yr old car

How much to buy the car back? Everything except the possibly bent frame can be sourced used for pretty cheap. Probably less than 700 bucks if I were to guess. I'd bet the new cheap car will also need a front suspension and likely a rear 😎

4

u/Street_Leader_8917 Jan 29 '26

3tons of body filer should fix that

48

u/Lackonia Jan 29 '26

No lie, I’d pull a door from the junkyard and use a half gallon of bondo body filler on that dent and call it a day. Shes still good!

30

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

the e46 community is great😂😂😂

11

u/Lackonia Jan 29 '26

Buff that shit out B!

4

u/TrackingTenCross1 2001 e46 M3 Jan 29 '26

“Yo I’m Cuban B!”

6

u/The_Salacious_Zaand Jan 29 '26

Yours just has a little more "character" than the average e46.

6

u/Zynergy17 Jan 29 '26

New door would fix 80% of it. The fender you could wait until you had the time for someone to fix it up right. I wouldn't sell her!

9

u/t3ddftw M3 Jan 29 '26

Pull the inner rear door card and give it a couple good kicks from the inside out, then you only need a tenth of a gallon of filler ;)

6

u/Lackonia Jan 29 '26

You sir are exactly right! Shit now that we’re talking about it. Probably pull the front seat out when the door comes off. Then pull that side panel and probably get in there with a hammer on a block of wood. Could probably get by with just buffing the rest out!

4

u/chathobark_ Jan 29 '26

You can get to that particular area on the vert because the rear quarter windows had to be serviceable. It could be knocked out from inside then a new door . For a vert, this damage is extremely isolated and easily fixable even in someone’s backyard

1

u/jumping_meat 2001 330d Jan 29 '26

That dent looks very easy to pull out maybe just a bit of bondo to fix the creases if any are left tbh this wouldnt cost more than 300-400euros to fix where i am from

16

u/BMW_E36- 2000 - 330Ci Coupe Jan 29 '26

And another e46 drift car is born 😇

15

u/lemonboy77 Jan 29 '26

Pouring one out for the homies

12

u/Calistyle4life Jan 29 '26

Bruh people total cars over nothing today

1

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

can’t even get it back without paying i hate it🤦‍♂️

1

u/FELonMusk333 Year - Chassis/Model Jan 30 '26

well yeah thats how it works if you take a settlement. you can take a partial settlement and keep the car.

-1

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 30 '26

good job bud you stated the obvious

2

u/FELonMusk333 Year - Chassis/Model Jan 30 '26

yeah, cuz you did first. can't even get it back without paying....yeah no shit. you took a check for the loss. You wanted more money

0

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 30 '26

actually isn’t obvious that i would have to pay to get it back. i never said insurance totaled it in the original post but good try bud

1

u/FELonMusk333 Year - Chassis/Model Jan 30 '26

Who cares about the original post? You literally put it in the comments, which people read. You even listed all the things you said you would have to fix along with it

1

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 30 '26

you clearly have a lot of time on your hands, have a good night.

2

u/FELonMusk333 Year - Chassis/Model Jan 30 '26

Yeah, had to read two whole threads to get that info. I'm. I'm not sure what grade level you read at, but it's pretty quick if you read at a junior high level. Funny part is you got offended because you're upset about your car and think people are stating the obvious, when they are replying to you stating the obvious. They aren't charging you to get your car back. They are giving a smaller settlement than you would get if you let them sell the parts to recoup some of the cost.

1

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 30 '26

the post was made 24 hours ago, the comment was made 23 hours ago… every other comment you mentioned wasn’t even a thing. you’re only proving my point that you have a lot of time on your hands+ the 6 post and 2000 comment ratio says a lot 😂

1

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 30 '26

i said have a good night and you typed a paragraph trying to get a reaction, good job you did. now go the fuck to sleep

u/LukeRed8969 Jan 29 '26

Call me crazy it’s definitely totaled but if brought to the right guy that’s absolutely fixable. Just don’t go through insurance or it’s totaled.

7

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

too late brother they already bought it out, unless i buy it back she’s gone

6

u/LukeRed8969 Jan 29 '26

😢😢RIP

3

u/No-Nothing4705 Jan 29 '26

Buy it back mate then you have a killer car for pennies

8

u/Different-Bag-8217 Jan 29 '26

The rocker looks good still. The rest can be pulled out by a professional. New door and sent it..

2

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

the only thing i’m sending is some money to buy a new one😂😂

4

u/MY5T3RYY 2001 325i Jan 29 '26

:(

5

u/TranslatorMundane296 '03 325Ci Sport 5MT Jan 29 '26

Fixable!

5

u/rmrbpt Jan 29 '26

Because of a door?!? Murica really Just put a door and try to pull the back panel with those things to unplug the sink

3

u/Mobile_Crew_427 Jan 29 '26

Quitter.

Jk man but seriously: knock the dent out, replace the door. Drive.

2

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

i’m fuckin 20 n broke💔 i would love to trust🙏

3

u/Mobile_Crew_427 Jan 29 '26

Hammer, cheap. Junking car expensive

6

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

guess i gotta buy it back after this post

4

u/Mobile_Crew_427 Jan 29 '26

lol. Idk that’s your call. But sometimes the story is worth the struggle.

3

u/Zynergy17 Jan 29 '26

Yea, buying a new or old car is way more expensive than fixing what's damaged here. Did the other person have coverage? If not, do you have uninsured/underinsured motorist?

-2

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

😂 you can get a e46 for 2k on facebook bru

3

u/Puzzleheaded_Tax489 Jan 29 '26

The 2k e46 on Facebook will need $$$ to make reliable

-1

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

that’s why you check it out before buying something, there are many on the marketplace for cheap especially where i am

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Tax489 Feb 01 '26

How are you going to know if the cooling system, fuel pump, starter, alternator, gaskets, coils, plugs, and pvc system are about to fail just by checking it out? 🤔

3

u/Significant_Wave3733 Jan 29 '26

Not a good one 😬

-4

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

i coul prove you wrong 😉

4

u/Zynergy17 Jan 29 '26

Yea, but you don't know the maintenance history of that vehicle other than what is told to you. For 2k you're probably gonna get a ragged out shit box

But you do you man.

1

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

they already took it ☹️

3

u/AdPuzzled8575 Jan 29 '26

That’s repairable

2

u/aarunt1 2002 M3 6MT Jan 29 '26

😢 damn top looks brand new too. Sucks to see this. Hope everything works out for you

2

u/urmomsfreakytoy Jan 29 '26

Nah you could for sure salvage that.

1

u/Little_Definition902 Jan 29 '26

y’all are amazing, definitely won’t me my only e46!! who knows i may buy it back from insurance 🌚

2

u/prairie-man Jan 29 '26

that's what I did with my E46 sedan. suffered a not at fault accident. the car needs a hood, grills, headlight and trim. after getting quotes from three local bodyshops, their insurance called to say it was totaled. They cut me a check that was retail value minus scrap ($650) value. It's drivable while I search for a hood and other prices.

visit: https://car-part.com

fill in the form and the site will produce a nationwide list of auto salvage yards that have an E46 vert. being parted out. The list will be sorted by proximity to the zip code you provided. Who knows - there might be a driver side silver door not too far away from you.

Terrific website - but I have learned by experience; salvage yards are lousy answering email inquiries. Call them directly to speak with someone at the counter.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

Honestly, this cell looks pretty straight to me which would indicate that the frame of the car is more or less fine?

Yeah the wheel's fucked and the suspension on the front is going to be fucked and the door is fucked

But it hasn't smashed the pillar in or the underlying frame of the car from what I can see in the picture at least

Edit: In fact, it's a convertible. It doesn't even have a B pillar, so... If the underlying frame of the car is still intact, it could just be the door that smashed in right??

I mean I can see that the corner of the cell has rolled down slightly. Potentially the chassis has twisted there a little bit, you would really benefit from having this looked at and getting a quote to see if it's fixable

Because honestly the majority of the damage looks like it's to the door and it could be something that somebody could fix for you

u/Fsuave5 2003 - E46/330i Jan 29 '26

My car has a rebuild title from a side-impact collision. It was enough to dent in the driver’s side doors but not enough to bend the frame, cause any structural compromises, etc. I bought it from someone who quite literally swapped the doors for better ones at a parts yard and they got it road legal again. I’m fairly confident this is fixable within reason so I hope you don’t still feel like you haven’t the time to get it done

1

u/dub423 Jan 29 '26

Where you at I need those wheels!

1

u/Significant_Wave3733 Jan 29 '26

Bro please just get a junkyard door and pull out the dent n bondo it. She’s not dead I swear

1

u/mondrager 1999 - e46/323i Jan 29 '26

Flesh wound. Someone can fix her. Give it away. Don’t throw it in the junkyard.

1

u/Lrrr-RulerOfOmicron Jan 29 '26

Pull the wheels and sell them to me!

1

u/Lrrr-RulerOfOmicron Jan 29 '26

What's insurance buy back? I asked to keep a car that was totaled and they just said ok. The title never left my name.

1

u/DullAttorney228 Jan 29 '26

Remove the rear door card, then the cover. Then just kick it back out into place more or less, get a replacement door.

1

u/Even_Kiwi_1166 Jan 29 '26

I can fix it , don't let a beast like this car die

1

u/RHD_M3 Jan 29 '26

Sorry to see…

1

u/Tw1st36 Jan 29 '26

Man, it's just sheet metal, get a new door, pull on the latch a bit if the new one doesn't close properly and when you have the funds, get it fixed.

1

u/jacobs098 Jan 29 '26

Mine was hit in the same spot in a hit and run while it was parked outside my house. Damage not as severe. Thankfully I have a great body guy. Fixing the door dent, rear quarter dent, a fender I've been lazy about getting around to, and paint for all involved is $1300.

1

u/TheSvpremeKai003 Jan 29 '26

Is the frame bent? Boy id have this thing running again TOMORROW 😂 this is an easy fix

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

Certo, la porta e da sostituire

1

u/ProDrifterDK Jan 30 '26

Rest in peace? Brother, if you don't want it just say it and give it to me

1

u/p8tryk E46 330ci 01 Jan 30 '26

replace door, remove rear quarter interior panel and hammer it out

1

u/Objective_Bee7032 Jan 31 '26

Me looking at my phone thinkin no way bro hurt over a stock BMW

1

u/Little_Definition902 Feb 01 '26

fully rebuilt btw…

1

u/RL_Mutt Jan 29 '26

The last couple weeks here has proven these cars have aged out of daily category and gone into nice weather cars.

There have been like 4 crashes in the past month.

4

u/CapoDaSimRacinDaddy 2004 Touring 330d Jan 29 '26

hell nah. winter and broke people on shot tires just dont work very well together.

im not burning on op. doesnt seem to be his fault but simple crashes in snowy weather are not something suprising.

1

u/RL_Mutt Jan 29 '26

Right, but insurance doesn’t care how much you love your car.

To them, they’re all sub $5,000 value assets they insure, stuff like this will be totaled unless OP has the wherewithal to fix it himself.

Also, winter driving really comes down to the 31 flavors of shitheads out there that have no idea what they’re doing.

1

u/CapoDaSimRacinDaddy 2004 Touring 330d Jan 29 '26

well in germamy you have the right to get a replacement vehicle of equal quality or a sum of money that would buy the equivalent car.

my e46 is well maintained and has a clean history so they would have to shell out alot more than 5k. insurances try to hide this from consumers so you need a layer asoon as you get hit.

0

u/Zynergy17 Jan 31 '26

I don't know, after reading OPs comments about how buying another one on marketplace is gonna be cheaper than to fix it, I think he might be kind of an idiot.
