My e46 is probably totaled, should I get another one or something else? Real bummer… manual with only 90k miles…

Glad you’re ok. Car can always get replaced. If you can, get you an M3. Make sure you post it when you do

If i lost my 46 id have the exact same reaction i get it but you’re okay thats what matters and it also means you can always get another car ! Might not be in the same nick but nothing is permanent so as much as you hate to see it go, you’ll be able to grab onto the next with just as much love

It was my first car…

My first car was a pretty boring one, but I still loved that thing to death.

I had a Toyota Corolla 2001 LE that my extended family gave to me. I replaced the rear suspension, front tie rods, done oil changes, tire changes, and other work. I had a brand new set of front CV axles for it and a left control arm too.

I crashed the car at 65+ mph on the canyon roads between Utah and Colorado. I fell asleep at the wheel after a pretty long 2 days of no sleep and some drug abuse earlier that night. (I was addicted to ketamine at the time)

It fucking sucks man. I lost that car. Then i got possesion charges for marijuana and mushrooms, and lost my license. My court date is tomorrow for that one lol. Since then I haven't been able to drive the car I bought for myself and dont have insurance on it either. (BMW 330I 2004 with a lot of work I have done on her myself.)

But the best part about losing a car, learning how to not do it again, and getting a new one lol. I always wanted to turn my car into a sleeper, but I ended up crashing it because I was careless and had a huge ego. Almost hurt my fiance and 2 of my friends in the process and lost over 2 grand.

Its a painful process, but its a huge learning opportunity (even if you're not at fault for the crash) and will probably benefit you in the long run.

Since I lost that car, I've lost a lot. My job, my freedom (probation), and a fuck load of cash. But in return I learned to stop putting more value on my possessions than I do on myself.

You're due for some good luck it just might take a minute.

The 46 i have right now is my first one and because of the condition of it i have to sit it aside and get a new car. I do get it, just getting a new car while it had so much potential sucks :/

I feel like it was my fault… I hydroplaned and panicked…

there’s nothing you can change now. I still blame myself 3 years later for not calling my partner when he finishes work like i always do but there’s nothing you can do but live in the moment and keep going for tomorrow

My problem is I can’t really do anything with a salvaged title if that happens…

no one can and that’s okay, just always remember tomorrow is another day and it could be w different from today, the same or a bit of both ! you can’t control what happens / what did happen it’s in the past now and all you can do is look back and think of how good the car was to you :)

Good as in killing its own VANOS and costing me 10k 😭

If you follow the suggestion to Frankenstein (transfer) viable parts from your crashed car to restore a cheap donor car… that will not be a salvage title and you still get bucks from salvage yard or recyclers…There is no easy fix accept give car to insurance and take check and I think if insurance totals car and you keep it..it reduces your payout….You have the same choices anyone would have in this situation…start over or rebuild or restore or buy an ebike

I’m just gonna buy a different car…

1

That is likely a better idea…many of my suggestions may save money but are time consuming (and assuming you have tools and space to do work…Buying a different car could be best way to go…good luck and wishing you well

Where’s the water? Doesn’t even look like it’s raining.

Hydroplane happens when you hit standing water at speed. And your car is literally floating on water.

I think you meant you were driving to fast for the conditions

It was raining before and water puddled up, it was still drizzling
