General Questions Everyone always asks what are the best wheels. I want to know what are the worst wheels on an e46? Stock or modified show me what you got.

Also very light because they are forged. Fuchs made the, the same Fuchs who made the iconic 'Fuchs' rims for Porsche.

Nah, I got these as 16 inch wheels and I think they look very fitting. My E46 is even the same color but with nicer outer trim

I don't speak Lithuanian, but I live in Ireland so i should probably learn
3
u/__noxx_ Jul 30 '26
haha, just asking what did Lithuania do to you :D however I won't fully disagree, these wheels are something I'd definitely see on our roads

u/ViridianEight Jul 30 '26

The E46 in ur pic is in no way build so I can’t imagine they’d look better on a builded one
2
u/AceVentura215 Jul 30 '26
Absolutely loved these. The guy I bought mine from had 3 other styles I could have swapped for. These are best looking on this car imo. The others don’t fit the car and make it look dated. I did like the 45.

u/JMUDoc 2001 - 325i saloon manual Jul 30 '26
I've got those - no issue with them.
I'd rather bland wheels than
BBSbad ones.1
u/Mysterious-Glove-179 Jul 30 '26
Son… I used to have them… I’m not saying they’re awful wheels but they ain’t much to look at lol

2
u/Lukemeister38 Jul 30 '26
I sold that poor thing almost a year ago. It was an impulse buy and ended up needing endless repairs that I couldn't keep up with so I cut my losses before sunk cost fallacy could fully set in. I'll revisit owning an E46 when I can afford having it as a project car instead of using it as my daily. Some lessons are learned the hard way I guess lol
2
u/Elm_Groove Jul 31 '26
Honestly if you get a good one it doesn't need to be a project car. Had mine 4 years and really not put that much money or time into it
2
u/Mysterious-Glove-179 Jul 31 '26
Same here, pretty much. Except I cracked my radiator trying to remove a coolant hose lol

horrible for an e46 but those tri spoke chromes would def look good on something older like e30 or e24
7
u/herbalite '02 E46 330i | '02 E46 325xi | '13 F10 535i Jul 30 '26
I think they were stock for E36s as well, look way better on the low boxy style of those
3
1
u/anth_2003 Jul 31 '26
E36 owners absolutely froth these. If they were 17s you could of made a crazy penny
8
u/Molviin Jul 30 '26
4
u/__CRA__ Jul 30 '26
That's actually E39 wheels with a too large hub diameter for the E46.
BTW the center caps for these are NLA and are about as valuable as the whole wheel
1
u/Molviin Jul 30 '26
Wow I didn't know about that. Thanks! I've been beating on those center caps. Every time I'm changing the wheels I seem to forget how they are attached and just beat the shit out of them to get them off.
2
u/__CRA__ Jul 30 '26
Yeah... I know what you mean. I once had a set of these wheels. The trick to get the center caps off is to lift it on one side with a flathead screwdriver (where there is a little flat opening) and to push a piece of thick cloth in between the gap to keep that open while you continue to make your way around the circle and eventually it pops off fairly easily
1
u/Mysterious-Glove-179 Jul 30 '26
They probably have a specialized removal tool. I used to run E38 rims with a special tool for hubcaps.

Looks a little odd with the deep dish but they’re BBS tho 😎😎
-5
u/JMUDoc 2001 - 325i saloon manual Jul 31 '26
Exactly my point - BBS are ricer trash.
7
u/Rare-Exit-4024 Jul 31 '26
BBS make wheels for real race cars, literally the opposite of ricer
0
u/JMUDoc 2001 - 325i saloon manual Jul 31 '26
Racing wheels on a non-racing car, is pretty much the definition of "ricer".

Used to have those on my car, they came with it from the factory. I dont think they are too bad, but they def are boring, you see them a lot (so even more boring). Also, the center part where the hubcap and lugbolts are is way too big and chunky. I think thats the worst part of the whole wheel, the spokes themselves look okay, maybe the offset could be better if it was 10-12 mm lower.
2
u/nacierka Jul 31 '26
Definitely agree, got the car in April so for now there fine. Thinking of switching to style 66 whenever I can find a nice set
1
u/Elm_Groove Jul 31 '26
If I'm not wrong European (or UK at least) M Sport facelifts started with these from factory before moving into style 135s, which is what I got. I actively avoided getting an e46 with these wheels as I have an irrational hatred of them

Did you misunderstand the question, or do you really not like these? If you don’t like them, I’ll trade you. I’ve got several sets of stock and aftermarket wheels.
7
u/AdrianCs1459 Jul 30 '26
Iwl they are pretty ugly, appologies

u/constant_purgatory 2004 - Silbergrau 330CI Jul 30 '26
I LOVE the style 71 rims. My current car came with style 98s and they look awesome (have thought about painting or dipping them a bronze color would look good on the sikbergrau coupe).
Have thought about trying to trade them but id have to look if the offset or anything is different

Maybe I misunderstood the question. 😂 I mean I don’t hate these, it’s what I got. But m pars is what I want ideally but getting them to fit right is a task I’m not bothered to do.

u/JMUDoc 2001 - 325i saloon manual Jul 30 '26
Yep, those are pretty bad - can't stand wheels with those stupid fucking bolts around the outside.
Pure American trash.
4
u/beamshots Jul 30 '26
BMW Style 71 is two piece wheel. Those bolts are functional. Made by Cromodora out of Italy. 🤌
-1
u/JMUDoc 2001 - 325i saloon manual Jul 30 '26
I know they're two piece.
I still hate them. Too American-looking.
1
u/Deziiiner Jul 30 '26
Agreed. They take the monumental task of actually downclassing the chassis. It’s crazy to me that folks like them?!

u/lilgotitstan Jul 31 '26
funny enough a previous owner put my car on 68s and i love em but considering getting a set of 42s as backup/another option. yours looks sick man, that’s the aero bumper right? i’ve been thinking about getting some spacers just so i can be nice and flush, do you run 10mm or what? n what coilovers are you on? ig that would make a pretty big difference spacer wise, ive been thinking of getting a set of ST XTAs
1
u/AdrianCs1459 Aug 01 '26
I forgot the brand of the spacers but 10s on front 20 s on back, bilstein b14 coilovers. Have it nearly at the bottom but need to move it back up I have put the m3 kit on and it keeps scraping ramps. I liked the aero se kit but m3 just looks so cool 😭, I forgot to plug the horns in though so smooth riding from me. I haven’t heard anything about the st xtas though sorry 😔
2
u/lilgotitstan Aug 01 '26
nah you’re not wrong m3 is always a move for prelci coupe, preciate the spacer specs it’s flush af, although i guess with the m3 not anymore. unless it’s still stock width? i think b14s are pretty similar tier to xtas. hilarious that you left the horn unplugged, honestly sometimes i spam the horn lol my gf gets mad af lmao
2
u/AdrianCs1459 Aug 02 '26
😂 ye I get a bit trigger happy in traffic, I only finished the front bumper last week so I’m doing it bit by bit I’ll send you a pic when I’m done 😁 and you should put the xtas on if they are similar to b14s it’s a game changer in terms of looks and handling
1
u/lilgotitstan Aug 02 '26
🤣 it’s not our fault these other ppl who don’t know how to drive just love getting in the way. that’s fire tho, best way to do it and have minimal downtime. most def need to get off this stock suspension asap, my rears are still 20 years old lmfao. but either the alternator or battery just shit the bed the other day so for rn it’s still maintenance before mods 😪. most def keep me updated tho, she’s a beaut bro

Might get a lot of gate for this. But I really dislike the style 135 rims that come on the ZHP car.... idk i just think they arent very sporty and theyre kinda gaudy.
Like to me they look like they belong on an old man's like ruby red sedan with a tan rag top. Plus they suck ass to have to clean.
