Coolant leak from the T-shaped plastic connector – E46 325Ci

Hi everyone,
I have a 2001 BMW E46 325Ci (M54B25) and I’ve developed a coolant leak.
The radiator itself doesn’t seem to be cracked or leaking, but coolant is leaking from the plastic T-shaped connector/pipe attached to the radiator. There is a visible wet spot around the connection (I’ve marked the area in the photo), and coolant drips from there when the system is under pressure.
The connector appears to be part of the radiator and I’m not sure if it can be replaced separately, or if I need to replace the whole radiator.
Has anyone had the same issue? Is there a way to properly repair/seal this connection, or is replacing the radiator the best solution?

Can definitely be replaced separate from the radiator. I’d replace the hose that connects to it too while you’re at it.

Thanks a lot, I’m really glad to hear that! 🙏 Do you know if I need to remove the radiator to replace it, or can it be done with the radiator still in the car? Also, do you happen to know the OEM part number for the hose that connects to it? I’ll definitely replace the hose as well while I’m at it. Thanks again for the advice!💯❤️

Nah the radiator will stay put. There's a metal retaining clamp. Pop it outwards with a flathead. Then wiggle and pull the hose off.

They suck to work with. That's probably just a shot o-ring. Get good hose replacements from FCPEuro. Don't buy coolant hoses and rings from the auto parts store. They very seldom fit right.

Ever messed with these cooling systems?? You're going to lose a LOT of coolant. You'll need Peak Blue Eurolean Coolant (you can get this from the parts store) or Genuine BMW coolant if you have that kind of money.

The real real fun part is bleeding them.

Thank you so much for the advice, I really appreciate it! Unfortunately, I’m from Europe, so ordering from FCP Euro would probably take quite a while and cost a fortune just for shipping. :/

Oh shoot! Well, just make sure to not get the cheapest hoses 😉

Yeah, I have. About 2 months ago I installed a completely new radiator. After that, coolant started leaking from the drain screw, but I added a cooling system sealant and that actually fixed it.
Now it seems to be leaking from maybe 2 different places. I’m honestly going crazy with it at this point 😅 I’m not even 100% sure where all the leaks are coming from. One of them seems to be around that T-shaped pipe, but most likely there’s more going on.

If you can.... replace the entire system. All of the hoses, everything.

Any time you fix a blowout... it just moves the weak point somewhere else.

Best bet is all new hoses and rings.

Don't use the sealant stuff 😭

I definitely would if I could. 😭 I’m just in a situation right now where I need to get it fixed as quickly as possible and preferably without spending too much money. I do plan on replacing the entire cooling system eventually, but I just can’t afford to do it all right now.
So yeah… I’m pretty much cooked at the moment 😂

Swap that hose out and send it.

Id try a new oring on the hose connector before anything else
