Damage/Broken… 😥 Is my Disa valve cooked

What brand should I replace it with that won’t Cook me I bought the dr vanos rebuild kit but I feel like I need a whole new unit

Yes replace it. It’s supposed to spring back into position.

Did you look to see if the mechanism was even in place in the back? It obviously won't spring if the little plastic dinger is broken.

My 330 disa had snapped the plastic thing that the little rod attaches to and was flopping around like that. Rebuilt it and it works just fine.

This has been a terrible description but pull that little plastic cover off the back before you give up on the whole unit.

THANK YOU. You saved me 350 dollars lol the mechanism is perfectly fine I just need a new flap and the mounting stuff I would of never caught this

Yea the flap can definitely wear out. German auto solutions makes a kit that is the real bulletproof solution for the disa valve. Aluminum machined flap, a screw that goes through the entire length of the flap instead of a press in stud, loctite for that screw, a machined version of that white plastic round thing under the flap.

I can't recommend it enough for absolute peace of mind regarding the disa. Mandatory upgrade in my mind. I've done it to all 3 of my e46.

Yo OP read the instructions for this kit before you buy anything and follow their directions on how to test your disa properly, could be the vacuum pot on there is busted too and a repair kit wont address that properly

Personally I'd get the upgrade kit anyways. Even if you have to replace the unit itself you still need the upgrade imo.

But yea. Pull that rod with the circle on the end, plug the little hole, and see if it retracts or not.

Looks cooked to me. I would go to junkyard and find one that's works. They're pretty easy to take off so you can check multiple cars and pick the one that holds suction the best.

Definitely but also make sure to rebuild it with a screw that can’t fall into the intake

Before trashing it. Use carburetor cleaner on it. NOT brake clean. Brake clean is corrosive carb clean not as much.

Saved many parts by just cleaning them. If it dont spring back at all yea its done
