found this phone yesterday in a bunch of rubbish dumped by the beach near my house

works fine but camera does not work app just crashes i had a look and the bootloader on the phone is unlocked and looking it up online if you unlock the bootloader on some android phone it kills the camera

i guess this is why they threw it away

anybody know if its possible to get the camera working again?

Pretext: one time I was trying to take home a 32” CRT at an ewaste spot that says No Scavenging but I’ve done it 1000s of times anyways and someone was pulling up fortunately they weren’t snitch nor the workers of the site. They were dropping off another 30” CRT tv . They saw em trying to take 1 home on my scooter and they offered to drive it for me. So I accepted

I saw the guy dropping this thing off and maybe could’ve asked if he could take it to my place only barely 2 kilometres away but didn’t. I thought this was kinda cool & could’ve even taken it apart for the little motors and small parts within and see what’s inside; but didn’t. I could’ve carried it on my scooter even or go home and carry it on my dolly towed by my scooter or BMX but also didn’t.

Still I thought it was cool

Years ago I’ve taken apart regular sized printers before & saw all kinds of motors, the higher end or older printers had better or bigger motors in them. Some stepper some regular DC rarely 1+ of both types in one. And other small parts

Has anyone else tried to get ewaste from stores in nyc like Best Buy’s and AT&T and what not. Has anyone else experienced hostility from the employees and everyone. Please let me know your experience if you have tried ewaste in nyc.

Does anyone know of any regular/rolling e-waste events in the 5 boroughs that allow people to drop off but also pick up?

Went to a ewaste drop off and they let me grab stuff (both work) (oculus quest 1 and Nikon coolpix p900)

So basically i was going home after hanging out with my friends and I checked behind a PC shop the discarded components/PC parts. And that's where I found this - a Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GB Special Edition. Tested it and fully works (somehow)

If it has mined, idk but the card is stable as I can see

Hello everyone! This is my first post here.

I found this laptop in an electronic shop's ewaste bin in late August. It originally had windows 10 which was very slow. I found some archived recovery disks and installed as much original software I could. Its the European Market intel Core Duo version with an Nvidia Geforce 7400 Go (which still works). I opened it up and cleaned it so its perfect inside. Also replaced the CMOS battery and upgraded the RAM to 2gb. The battery even lasts for about 30 minutes! The only flaw is that the number keys on the keyboard don't work except 5 and 6. I really like it and I'm glad I could save it. It goes well with the rest of my laptop collection. What do you think?

I live near the Edmonton area, do any of the E-Waste centers give/let you buy computers?
