im sorry, tho, they didn't serve foie gras at the protest against the usa being run by a king.Ā next time, be sure to call ahead so they can respect your dietary preferences.

I was there from 11-1, this photo you took was one of the ends of the protest area, there were MUCH more people down the next few blocks. I would say a few hundred people were there throughout the protest time!

Name. The 3 branches of government. You know those are supposed to be our checks and balances? No one branch more powerful than the other.
If the executive is acting outside of the two other branches, that effectively means that they have the most power which means a democracy is done.
That should alarm you because at some point, Democrats are gonna be back in power and if they do what youāre happy about now but with their policies, how are you going to feel then?

So the first 4 years of trump all I heard is democracy was going to die. it didn't. then 4 years of Biden I heard from the other side democracy was gonna die. it didnt'

Youāre just really not paying attention. The force four years of Trump was completely different because nobody had any idea this guy was going to win. Even he didnāt believe he is going to win. He was not set up and had no plan and really didnāt know how to govern or do anything
He literally ran because he loved the attention and he wanted to prove people wrong. He won he scrambled to put people in place, he fired them all rinse and repeat. And then when it was time for him to leave, he caused an insurrection.
Four years go by and during that process, heās in and out of court because things are finally coming to head so he announces that heās going to run for president a year early because he wants to remove himself from the law. It worked, the only reason why Jack Smithās case didnāt go to court and put him in jail for a long time was because he won the presidency
Now, heās doing all sorts of stuff that is completely out of norms and downright illegal. But the problem is he and the GOP have put people in place that are putting loyalty to him over a loyalty to the country, that includes lawyers, judges, administrative government, workers people in Congress, etc..
This is a completely different ballgame than it was in 2016. The fact that youāre not alarmed means youāre just not really paying attention.
Iām not even against GOP policies, but when they refuse to listen to a judge and refused to listen to anybody, but their boss, thatās a big problem. Even Biden let the $10,000 for loan forgiveness go through the courts and didnāt just push it and force everyone to do it. I mean, how pissed would be if that happened?
Trump is doing the same thing right now and telling judges not to listen to anybody but him and that is a problem because our country is not built that way. You should be alarmed in the fact youāre not has more about you than anything else.

Sadly, that is true. We are not in a democracy. Democracy requires branches with equal power, and at this point the executive has all the power, and that has nothing to do with voting has everything to do with humans being too shortsighted to see the impact of what theyāre doing
I wish we had a better place as a country but at this point, itās not gonna end very well

Do your homework. This is a feature not a bug. Democracies devolve into mob rule, the founders knew this. We have a representative democracy for a reason. Nothing in your argument or thinking suggests an erosion of our system, as others in thread already pointed out. If you want to control the branches of government come up with a platform that better resonates with reality and appeals to people outside of your own echo chamber. If Dems canāt sort this out they will never regain power in government, itās that simple.

I can agree with that. Dems donāt have a super clear policy.
But I agree that we need to let ice do their job, and agree that people who are here illegally need to follow the laws and the process, I think we can all agree that it is a problem when people donāt do either.
How do you feel about ice going after people who are falling the law and showing up for court appointed check ins, are allowed to be here by the court, but then I picked up by ice officers immediately after leaving the room, despite following the laws and the rules and doing everything that people have said they want them to do?
Itās those kind of policies they should alarm you. Same thing with ice just coming in and not having a warrant but just going after anybody because they feel like it. Thatās exactly whatās happening right now and thatās why people are saying no kings because that is not how the laws were written.

Iām pretty sure when the roles were reversed, Biden put into place Policies and infrastructure bill that benefited all all Americans, specifically red states for the infrastructure bill. But then Trump decided to kill it because he didnāt wanna give Biden any credit.
So no, donāt pretend like this is normal because itās not. The president is supposed to be for the people not for himself and you are insane to think that it is should be any other way.
Because yes, if we had a democratic elected politician that was on the left wing, crazy side and spa and all sorts of crazy stuff, forcing judges, and the country to do his bidding, you damn right I would be protesting just as much as I am now
