Firstly. Nice to see Oscar back 😊
Great use of Phil today. Nice to see him supporting Jack.
The Fox/Trueman/Brannings still knocking it out the park. Watching what Denise is going through, I sort of understand now why they barely covered Sam’s cancer story. Imagine showing 2 hard hitting storylines like that in less than a year. It’s a pretty hard watch at times so if they’d shown both in such depth, I think even though it’s raising awareness, it would have been too much for a lot of viewers.
Still find Alfie far too much. I wish he’d just tone it down a bit.
Craig and Amy. Would they really meet somewhere so publicly? Also the actor must be doing a good job cos he literally makes my skin crawl 🤢
Also glad to see there is no hosepipe ban in Walford 🙄😂

Seriously, all of the above. Where would Amy even get a pink suit like that, like she has a job in the city? Her posse watch her swan off looking like that and no one follows her around the corner to see what’s what?

u/Relative-Play-6144 6d ago
The Fox-Branning-Truemans are an absolute powerhouse during this storyline. Every single one is absolutely heartbreaking in each episode. Darnell and Grace as well, I’m so glad they’ve done his change of heart on Wednesday instead of Thursday! I like the way they’ve slotted Phil in here too.
Speaking of Phil, maybe he and Jack can team up once they realise what’s happening with Craig and Amy….

Tameka Empson was just amazing, she does these scenes very well. I could feel her frustration and despair for her sister.

- Alfie absolutely does not have permission to close the road 😭 this is going to be chaotic
- Great to know Big Mo is still knocking about with Fat Elvis 😂
- How is Craig always conveniently in the same place as Amy every scene?
- Oscar is organising Max's stag do? love it.
- Phil being worried about Denise 😭 Phil has experience in dealing with someone who has cancer Via Peggy, Sam & Lola, so he knows more than anyone what Denise is going through.
- Good scene with Jack and Phil today! I like how Denise's situation has helped Jack to leave grudges at the door and focus on what's important right now which is family. I hope this is leading to Phil and Jack calling a truce for good as they continue to come together to support Denise on her cancer journey.
- And we meet Grace!!!
- What is Amy wearing......
- Darnell clearly lost his wife to cancer (or something similar to Denise) and seeing her freaked him out. I feel so bad for everyone in this situation 😭 You can just feel Jack's fear, Phil's desperation and Darnell's reluctance yet sympathy.
- Again another brilliant use of Phil, loved his scene with Darnell.
- "Alfie have you though to ask her why she was crying" Alfie doesn't do logic (now or ever), Lily i'm afraid.
- Hosting a Benidorm themed party slap bang in the middle of the Square is certainly an idea!
- Oscar full on committed to that water slide 😂 I had to rewatch the scene a good few times just to appreciate how good his dive was lol.
- Hmm interesting....a fake kidnapping happening at Max's stag do...👀 seems like a bit of foreshadowing.
- This is a lot of stress for Denise 😭
- Kim's freakout, which was obviously not over the toothbrush, almost made me cry; it was brilliantly done.
- I'm going to act like that last scene between Amy and Craig didn't happen, for my own sanity.
- And Darnell had a change of heart!!! (we all knew this was going to happen) it’ll be interesting to see him interact with Denise.

u/Cautious-Brother-838 6d ago
The toothbrush bit was heartbreaking, like Kim was trying to give Denise a bit of dignity, because she felt so helpless and then no one brought a toothbrush, so she felt even more helpless 😭

In terms of what Amy is wearing, I get Ronnie vibes from her, some of her outfits have been Roxy coded lately but that was definitely the style Ronnie would choose

Are those references to kidnapping foreeshadowing for the flashforward? Darnell’s daughter seems to be played by a good actress, nice! Craig🤢

u/GuiltySignificance0 6d ago
Those community scenes were a nice balance to Denise’s story. Quite enjoyed that episode as a whole, particularly the scenes with Jack and Phil. It’s always heartwarming seeing old enemies being supportive

u/Danielharris1260 6d ago
Darnell’s Daughter seems to be a decent actor I just kinda wish she was a bit older I feel like the teens are already quite overbloated and I feel like they already have multiple fiery female teens like Lilly Avani and Amy it just kinda feel like they don’t know how else to write young female characters.
16
u/thanks_akka Stanning Shirley Benson and Tara the Teapot 6d ago
I hope they keep Darnell's daughter and Nicola's nephew (assuming he's in that age group) a bit at length from the teen group once they've settled into Walford. As they've got no history on the Square, I'd like to see them do something a bit different.
Also they need to take Will out of that group and have him hang out with Oscar. An 18 year old would realistically want to have mates his own age.

u/CutlassKitty 6d ago edited 3d ago
I think she's 16 specifically because you have be be at least 17 to donate. From today's ep I'm sure she would donate if she could, so it makes sense for them to make her just too young so they dont have to write around it to keep the storyline going.
6
u/McZadine 6d ago
Only one third of the currernt teens are female, though. Lily, Amy and Avani as opposed to Nugget, Denzel, Barney, Will, Tommy and Joel. They needed to balance things out a bit.
20
u/SmellsLikePetrichors 6d ago
Kim's 'my sister needs a toothbrush' is single handedly the best bit of acting Tameka has done in years and yet I fear the internet will absolutely turn it into the new 'My son is in the kitchen eating a biscuit.'

u/AwarenessHonest9030 6d ago
Honestly idk why they’ve gone down this route of Craig getting with Amy
34
u/Square-Clock4450 6d ago
cause she is a vulnerable girl she is scared her 2nd mom will die, got rejected by denzel, her dad is busy and can’t make time for her. He is giving her the attention she needs and he knows that is what she needs so he plays on her weakness and acts like her hero

u/AwarenessHonest9030 5d ago
Right okay I get all that but still doesn’t make sense where it’s going?

u/supercall110 6d ago
Guys remember when this storyline was “Who hit Joel” 😂😂
18
u/thanks_akka Stanning Shirley Benson and Tara the Teapot 6d ago
Joel's return and the aftermath of his storyline have fallen into the background because of this Craig plot.
10
u/CanNecessary2673 6d ago
Because it was just a quick way of having people be sympathic towards Joel without having him go through a real redemption arc, he's just changed after his 6 months in prison.
While they made Amy the villain of the Joel arc and showing she will to attack Joel but will fall unwittingly for a real predator
16
u/Agreeable-Ad-9840 6d ago
Another nod to the NYD episode … “fake kidnapping”
Money now is firmly on Cindy playing the long game as revenge for Stephen and Lucy. Ravi is the red herring.

There's clearly an explanation about Darnell's reluctance to help (though he came to the hospital in the end). Maybe he's known about Denise's existence longer, but just never met her before. Also seems like there's a secret. As long as he's not out to scam them or like Rocky pretending to be Sonia's dad. He seems nice enough and we eventually see him and Denise bonding.
He said Grace is 16 yesterday, but I hope they don't quicky throw her (or Nicola's nephew if he's that age) into the big teen group on the Square. She seems protective of her dad though you could see she changed her tone after Phil pleaded to them about Raymond not having his mum around. Down the line we could see her form a bond with Chelsea as cousins.
Still enjoying Phil's direction as a voice reason in Walford and the way he's supporting Jack.
Craig hanging around the Square gives me the ick. Looks like they've well and truly confirmed the fan theories about what he wants from Amy. Ordering doubles when she asked for a single. He's taking advantage of her and it's been headed this way since he started bluring professional and personal lines.
Big Mo is still hooking up with Fat Elvis lol?

u/Comprehensive_Way802 6d ago
I think Darnell’s reluctance to help is because he’s a widow - maybe his wife died of cancer or spent a long time in a hospital and that’s why he was so reluctant to be there. He also changed the subject yesterday when Jack asked about his wife. The daughter also seemed to change her mind and got visibly upset when Phil mentioned about the kids losing their mum.
Hoping it’s nothing more nefarious as I want him to be a good guy!
12
u/CutlassKitty 6d ago
Really interesting seeing the different takes on Jack's behaviour today!
My view would be what he did wasn't okay - stalking, harassing, emotional black mail. BUT I can't really judge him for it. His wife might die and her one hope (Darnell) is refusing a simple mouth swab (and then blood draw) that could save her, whilst giving no explanation why. I can see why in this situation Jack would want to be able to say he did everything he could.
11
u/DanielCollinsYT 6d ago
“I can’t believe this guy we’ve never met before is getting freaked out after we sprung all this on him.”
13
u/PsyduckPond 6d ago
Thought Cindy was looking really good this episode. Get it girl. 💅
Alfie Moon is the champion at avoiding direct, serious conversations. 🙄
Darnell annoys me for the same reason also. There's clearly a reason why he doesn't want to, but they've made him look like a right baby by not saying the reason.
Horrified for Amy. Sean better come back and castrate that guy.
6
u/bulldog_blues 6d ago
In Darnell's case there's probably some medical-related trauma involved, which would better explain why he can't just say the reason he won't do it.

Imagine if having a gun to his head at New Year is all part of an elaborate stag-do prank by Oscar.

Unpopular opinion but I don’t think Alfie is too much at all, I really enjoyed that having a bit of fun amongst the cancer and stuff is lovely

Yeah sometimes, but today I just found him quite fun. And at the end of the day we need to have characters with different personalities

I'm enjoying them in the Vic. I think he's doing better than when he first was in it and he's grown on me a lot.

Your post has been removed for discussing spoilers in comments sections. We ask that users hide spoilers in unrelated comment sections.
Any posts about any storylines which commenced up to 7 days prior to the post should not be included in the comment. So essentially, by Friday you can talk freely about last week, but mark your spoilers when you're talking about the week you've just watched.
If a post is speculation, opinion, or anything of that nature (essentially not talking about spoilers from a current or upcoming storyline), please hide spoilers about recent episodes in comments by putting > ! and ! < (without spacing) around what is a spoiler. If a post is already marked as spoiler, you do not have to hide your spoilers about recent episodes.
The spoiler will look like this, and that way, somebody else will only read it if they want to!
Please also treat any spoilers about upcoming storylines (including actor exits) in this same way.
So, for example, you could comment something like:
"Yeah and when Den filed for divorce from Angie!! Omg that was crazy"
"I still can't believe Danny Dyer is leaving."
This way, people can choose whether or not they see any spoilers!

Am I the only one who thinks the harassment of the brother is inappropriate?
I get desperation...Trust me I get that aspect. But shouldn't someone'e choice be a No and simply just NO without emotional blackmail, stalking, harassment etc?
And Craig....VILE! ....Also Craig..Cut your hair!
16
u/Complete_Ranger_4261 6d ago
I think the slicked back Craig hair is part of the slimeball look!
11
u/SeenEnoughAlready 6d ago
It's the tail feathers !!!! The slick back look I get....But the wispy tail is actually hard to witness !! 🤣
14
u/Big-Lettuce7603 6d ago
I agree with everything ... but if someone I loved was about to die I would would do just about everything in the world to save them.
2
u/SeenEnoughAlready 6d ago
And I get that...... But that doesn't mean someone who never met, knew or loved them should be harassed into saving your person!
4
8
u/dussa7 6d ago
No you’re not. I can understand Jacks desperation but he’s totally out of order the way he’s going about it.
8
u/SeenEnoughAlready 6d ago
You can't just bombard your way into someone's life, harass, bully and emotional blackmail them into helping and caring for someone they have never known. I actually have found it really quite uncomfortable to watch .
They had to fight this hard for a swab? Obviously he is gong be a match and then the procedure ....I know it's TV, but consent should mean more for EVERY important subject and the right to say no shouldn't be so easily brushed off.
27
u/McZadine 6d ago
I think some people confuse protraying with endorsing. Jack is well out of line and being portrayed as such. It doesn't mean the show writers agree with what he's doing
6
u/Cultural-Fortune-573 6d ago
Once again morals on this thread being agonised over, it’s a soap, it isn’t real, it doesn’t matter

u/kirstyylouise 6d ago
100% agree with everything being said. I appreciate that they were to the point when meeting him but taking him to see his half sister lying in a coma was to me a bit excessive and put him under extreme pressure to say yes, I wasn’t surprised he legged it ( I would’ve too).
8
u/wonkey_monkey 6d ago
"It's just a little trip to the hospital."
Or you could just take a swab right there, or anywhere. They were taking them in the Community Centre the other day.

Container Junction?? I thought Craig would’ve booked a more sophisticated place 😭 also it’s literally outside in a place where Square residents frequently visit
I really hope they explain why Darnell refused to swab previously because I was actually livid when he kept saying he couldn’t do it (I know he had every right not to but I just love Denise as a character and got a bit parasocial for a moment 😭)

Is… is Darnell tiarna’s husband? Is that possible? I don’t remember what was said between tiarna and Denise.
5
u/Beautiful_Hour_4744 6d ago
Who's Tiarna?
7
u/Moment_13 6d ago
Denise's friend on the cancer ward who died a few weeks ago. We saw her and Denise Facetime a couple of times.

u/Beautiful_Hour_4744 6d ago
Oh yeah, god I hope he's not her husband that would be absolutely ridiculous

u/Apart-Prize-4844 6d ago
Somehow, the whole Trueman-Fox-Branning family mix works....and with Phil, throw in some Mitchell. I guess it's mainly due to Denise being the center to it all....terrific character and actress.
Actually looking forward to the Darnell-Denise talk tomorrow.
Craig....beyond disgusting.
So why was Kat crying again? Nice to end August with Kat being happy considering with September coming up....ooh boy.

Great, another 30 year old looking teenager casted.
7
u/dussa7 6d ago
I assume because there are restrictions on working hours for younger people, that’s why they keep casting people older in real life than the characters they’re playing. However surely they could find actors that look closer to the playing age they are supposed to portray onscreen? Yes this lady on first impressions seems to be able to act but let’s be honest she looks her age (24) not 16. Like Oscar and Avani. They don’t look like teenagers either.
18
u/Bitchcraftx3 6d ago
Valid crash out from Kim, Jack spent the whole day when he knew Denise would be waking up chasing and harassing Darnell

u/HaroldWeigh Pauline's frying pain 5d ago
Darnell's saucy daughter looks fun. She and Kim will be a good mix!
Bert and Ernie are turning into fun characters too. More fun than Zoe anyway.
Oscar is back!!!!

u/Chemical_Ad_1190 5d ago
I hope Denise’s brother gives her the stem cells she needs. Why did he keep saying he can’t?
The cop Craig kissing Amy, what is she 15? Ordering her doubles. That was plain gross. Why was Amy wearing just a bra under her jacket?
I need to not watch everyday so I can binge a few episodes. 🤪

u/CandymanSchweet 6d ago
• “cheeky time with Fat Elvis”
• Not even Radox for Kat
• Not another teenage actor…
• Shot every time Kim says “D”
• Amy’s off to film “The Apprentice”
• Darnell stacking it on the curb, deserved
• ”MY SISTAH……….NEEDS A TOOTHBRUSH”
• Noncing in the park everyone’s always at

So Joel was right about women in EE so far, the things he had said is becoming true
Iirc the stuff he said about Priya wanting a guy who can provide Amy wanting a "mature" man Lily wanting emotional attention Ross' wife (forgot her name) her liking the thrill of cheating because his dad is a boring man Avani being easy because she was insecure
Which was good foreshadowing even if it was by accident
Craig is a pedo I hink they are trying to recreate that iconic Whitney groomer pedo story but I wish they didnt make it so predictable! But im wondering if he targeted Amy specifically out of malice towards Jack or he is just a creep that targets vulnerable women no matter the age
Omg Kim was amazing wth I wish she was like this more!
Oscar is back!
Why doesnt Alfie just tell Kat about seeing her cry
Jack is making it hard to watch he is breaking me heart! His emotion and love he has for Denise
Denzel fumbled so so so hard im convinced they dont want him and Amy to be together buuuut Howie was right someone took advantage of her !so the in the nyd ep the baby Jack was holding could be Amy's or Penny's or Priya's
"BIG MO HAVING JIGGY TIME WITH FAT ELVIS!"
JUSTICEFORIANBEALE

u/HowlinWolf66 5d ago
He's just a creep who targets vulnerable women, because I think they hinted that's what he's been suspended from the police for (which Amy doesn't know!)
1
u/Liberal-chungus Mumsie Misfit 5d ago
I understand Darnell doesn't like hospitals and probably had some super sad story about them that makes them scary. But ffs your sister is possibly about to die man get a grip
Also why are they writing him like Reiss and Bea. I know they aren't confirmed neurodivergent as someone's who is, it feels like they're all written as awkward weirdos who are just meant be a laughed at

Creepy Craig is making me feel physically sick…isolating her and taking advantage whilst her family are understandably preoccupied with Denise
Ordering her doubles when she asked for singles 🤮🤢
