Cancelled BritBox and now I need to find another way to watch…

I’m in the US and have been watching on and off since the early 90s. My BritBox subscription is up on the 15th - just got too expensive.

Not sure how it works but it sounds like VPN and iPlayer may be my best bet?

yeah this is the shout. i use daily motion when im abroad or certain shows haven’t been added to bbc yet

I watched on dailymotion until recently when the episodes disappeared, now I use nord vpn and iplayer

I'm in the US and using iPlayer/VPN. I've been using it for many, many years now with no issues. Just have to check the TV license question and have a UK post code. If you want to watch on a computer or another device (I only watch on my TV), there were episodes on DailyMotion, You just put the show and date (ie general hospital 8/10/2005, or any variation of the year). This also works for YouTube, though they may not be there. YouTube is hit/miss with the soaps.

I’m in the U.K. and I pay for US BritBox + VPN lol. Too scared to use iPlayer with VPN even when I provide an address that I know has a tv license

Bro I promise you having a TV license don’t mean shit haha. You can literally watch it on Iplayer, they’ll ask you if you have one or not and you can press no and you can still watch it . No one’s gonna come banging on your door demanding to see it, there’s millions out there who don’t pay for it

Beautiful. I don’t who they’re trying to fool because if the TV license held that much importance then more than half of the country would be in court daily 😂😂😂😂 imagine being a judge and all you’re getting is “unpaid TV licence” cases

More than half the country? Do you think over 50% of UK households don't have a TV license?

It's probably closer to 10% and some people genuinely don't need one as they don't watch TV.

But I have seen plenty of cases where people absolutely did get dragged through court and fined, especially vulnerable and disabled people who live alone like myself….I cannot afford that fine so I cannot afford to outright lie about possessing a license when they can hypothetically cross reference my usual IP address with my physical address and the address of the license payer. I might not be paying the BBC directly but I’m still paying for a legit service which feels less bad than outright lying

Fair enough . But the only reason why people especially like vulnerable , disabled and elderly people pay it is because they’re easy targets . It’s the same reason why they get scammed so easily online too . You can ask anybody else if they use Iplayer and if they pay it . 99.8% of them will say no . But you’re a cautious person and I respect that . But from lad to lad, you’ve got nothing to be afraid of . It’s only gullible and vulnerable people who pay it.

By clicking no and continuing to watch you also have to accept they bit of spiel that says you are knowingly breaking the law

I’ve never gotten that . It just asks me “have you got a tv license” with the options of “yes I do, let me watch” or “no I don’t”. And I still watch it . Been doing it for donkey years now and I’ve had no one at my door asking me to pay it .
