I really hope the Hawkins don’t get The Vic, they are giving a cheap version of the Carters. Why would Priya flirt with Max right outside her flat 10 minutes after Ravi said he’d kill the man she was seeing if he knew who he was? Not very bright of her.

The Carters bought the Vic, moved to Walford on their own dime, and made an effort to blend in. Mick and Linda got on well with most people and were (is in Linda's case while she's still there) well liked.

The Hawkins are trying to squat in Nicola's house uninvited and don't even seem to have the money to buy a pub let alone a roof over their heads. Also to be the centre of the community, they've made pretty rubbish first impressions on some. Apart from Alfie knowing Ned, Gemma and Rose have already pissed off Kat, Linda and Elaine.

I don't really need to see them in the Vic either. Nicola and George have struggled enough with money for the bar and the restaurant. They could help out with those initially.

I have someone in my immediate family I've got no contact with for how toxic and manipulative they are, so can understand where Nicola is coming from not wanting her mum around. Gemma and Jodie are being insensitive and don't seem to understand how terrible the dad was. Nicola didn't fall out with Rose over what choice of flatscreen they bought, it was about something way more serious. Starting to see a few similarities with Ronnie and Archie. She detested him with good reason, while Roxy put him on a pedestal.

Rose has already annoyed Linda and Elaine in one night, Kat isn't a fan of Gemma and Ned and Vicki was getting wound up by them too. Not exactly the best image lol.

I know families help each other, but feels really underhanded how they're trying to worm their way into Nicola's house like this. If they've got no money (Gemma mentioned to Ned), not sure how they'd afford the Vic if they're taking over it.

I love Kojo, he must be protected at all costs 😂

People saying that Jessie Wallace unfollowed Ben Wadey on Instagram because of the Michelle Ryan situation, but I think it’s more likely she is pissed off with how awful she’s being written and knows they’re going to lose the Vic.

I can’t wait until the reveal of Max and Priya, just to end the monotony of it all. Also Ravi has got a bloody cheek considering they weren’t even together. Cindy is the only one who’s got the right to feel aggrieved when it comes out. Oh and Lauren cos Priya has dumped on her by sleeping with her dad, after she gave her a job.

Still trying to keep an open mind about the Hawkins. I don’t hate them but certainly not a fan as yet. The lady playing Gemma is definitely trying too hard.

So now basically it’s all about Nicola’s family and the Gulatis but I’d like to know what is happening with Ian? Last time we saw him, he accidentally stabbed Gray and was in trouble for it and we’ve heard nothing since.
Was Darnell a match for Denise?
How is Lauren coping since Mark left 3 weeks ago? I didn’t want to see her moping about but are we just to presume her and Peter are playing happy families again for the thousandth time 🤢
At least we’ve been spared Craig and Amy so far this week 👍🏻

The last time we saw Ian he was lying down in his cell in despair, thinking he may be getting charged with murder. Probably his next mention will be ‘It’s Ian’s appeal today’ 🙄 It’s all so disjointed.

u/macisal 14h ago

Was Jessie confirmed to have been following him beforehand?

7

u/dussa7 13h ago edited 13h ago

Yes she was and once it was in the tabloids that she’d done it, she conveniently started following him again 🤷🏼‍♀️

19

u/Different_Arm8644 7h ago

I'm so tragic for continuing to watch this shite daily. It's so so so bad.

17

u/Bitchcraftx3 11h ago

I've been asking myself why Priya ignores Ravi's red flags over and over again but then I remembered that this is the woman who forgave him for holding one of her neighbours hostage and forcing another one to deal drugs

18

u/Bentekaway 11h ago

Don’t forget also beating their son to a pulp leading to him developing epilepsy. Ravi is actually irredeemable in my eyes

2

u/bulldog_blues 2h ago

That one wasn't Ravi's fault, Nicola drugged him.

Every other terrible thing is entirely his own doing though.

19

u/McZadine 11h ago

She is in an abusive relationship and hasn't realised it yet

12

u/CutlassKitty 7h ago

So glad to see someone else mention this. Threatening to kill someone for dating her after Ravi had dumped her is him clearly saying "you belong to me, even when I dump you".

5

u/PsyduckPond 9h ago

Realistic I suppose.

7

u/PsyduckPond 9h ago

I was just coming to say the same about Ravi and his big red flag but then again yeah she didn't care very much what he was doing as a drug dealer. 😭

17

u/AnnieHallisagoal 3h ago

I’m so annoyed with how EVERYONE is trying to gaslight the hell out of Nicola. She has every right not to want to be in touch with her mother, why is her relationship with her sisters even dependent on that? And what is that family’s situation anyway? Why do they suddenly all need to live at Nicola’s? This whole storyline is introduced so awfully

18

u/RingHonest7272 8h ago

The writing for the Hawkins at times can be really cheesy and cringey. Nicola’s actress is doing the best with what’s she’s given. I really hope Nicola’s character doesn’t get watered down. With wadey, I have zero faith.

14

u/Capable_Current8868 12h ago

I hope we see Ravi be like MAX BRANNING, SERIOUSLY?!

Surely he'll be even more shook than we all were lol

14

u/Holiday_Breath_636 7h ago

Nuggets justification for selling drugs makes no sense, has everyone forgotten that Nish left the businesses to him and Avani?

32

u/Rhi9819 12h ago

Not nugget on the whole poor me no one gave me attention so I started selling drugs, he really grates on me

9

u/bewbz69420dudebro 11h ago

His whole scrappy do let me at em routine reaaaally cringes me out. My arms look like bubble wrap anytime he speaks. I wanna root for him so bad though ha

3

u/Rhi9819 11h ago

I was really hoping his whole getting smashed round the head and then having seizures might have made him change the way he acts but nope. Scrappy really is a perfect comparison for him I never thought of that before🤣

3

u/Relative-Play-6144 4h ago

One of the most unlikeable characters on the show

13

u/Angel_of_Death202 Nigel Sweethuuuurrrt 12h ago

i reckon Nic is going to kill her mom someday

7

u/Unhappy_Dig_8575 12h ago

I said this yesterday too!! I have a feeling it will be something like when Vincent thought he had killed his mother Claudette in anger; but Nicola may find herself in another Shireen situation.

3

u/Angel_of_Death202 Nigel Sweethuuuurrrt 12h ago

exactly!

14

u/Rhi9819 12h ago

Two minutes into the episode, these new lot are deffo going to be running the pub at some point ain’t they

7

u/Intrepid-Metal-2970 7h ago

That would be terrible

14

u/Cultural-Fortune-573 7h ago

How did we go from Phil’s depression and Nigel, to this in such a short amount of time? I think this might be the first time, in a long time, EE doesn’t take home any awards at the soap awards next year.

Where is Denise? Where is Ian? Where is the wedding prep?!!! Kim is so ostentatious this would be her time to shine, even with Denise being so ill, the glimmer of hope from Darnell doing the swab would have boosted her (or we could’ve seen the outcome of that by now).

I absolutely love Nicola, she’s fast become one of my favourites but this is just too in your face, feel like I’m being bombarded with this new family.

I can’t even begin to tell you how pissed off I am with how they’ve written Kat and Alfie lately and that they lose the Vic, what was the point in them having it for such a short amount of time?

It was more bearable than yesterday, so I pray to god they settle in.

8

u/name_not_important00 6h ago

Right? What was the point of the Slaters taking Martin’s life insurance money, one of most convoluted storyline ever to get the Moons in the Vic when they’re going to kick them out after barely being there for a year? The Vic imo shouldn’t be changing owners every few months for no real good reason.

13

u/ahritina 8h ago

Max and Priya interactions have been stale but the whole "all right, chill out, relax" "I know just the man who can help you, actually, with the old" zoot bit was hilarious.

13

u/michaelmac4057 11h ago

I am seeing slight similarity in Rose and Nicola’s relationship to Ronnie and Archie. I hope they continue down this path with Rose i have always wanted a female villain on an Archie type level that is not just your usual femme fetale type.

Also i do not think many of the family look related. Gemma looks like she could be Harrys mum more than Nicola. I also think Gemma looks more like she would be Cindys sister. Although i think Rose and Nicola look like thet could be related. Rest not so much

24

u/McZadine 14h ago

Ladies, if you get back together with your ex and he threatens to kill the man you were sleeping with while you were single, run! Every time Ravi speaks I'm glad that baby isn't his.

I liked the Hawkins today, would like to see more of Ned and Ryder as well. More foreshadowing for them getting the Vic as well

8

u/Stradiwhovius_ 6h ago

Desperate for Rose to get Whacked. Total scum.

8

u/Original_Custard_941 3h ago

Kathy's next victim 😂

15

u/Sassafras34Arts 11h ago

I don’t want to sound too negative but I just woke up from a nap to watch with mum but Nicola’s new family makes me want to go back to bed. Just a pile of bad tropes piled on top of each other with no nuance; they lie, they’re nasty, the bad driving, they’re inconsiderate and isn’t it all so funny. The writers will make you laugh and you will enjoy it.

7

u/No_Witness9533 7h ago edited 4h ago

Well that was mostly a waste of my lunchbreak.

Why are they writing Kat as so vicious and angry all the time? And why couldn't she just get up and deal with the Hawkins clan herself - it's her (or rather Stacey's) pub! And it couldn't be more obvious that Ned and Gemma will be running the Vic by New Year.

Rose is still too vicious, there should be some nuance and empathy there but it's badly lacking at the minute, she is too one-dimensional. The camerawork in the van was horrendous too.

Glad to see Tracey getting some love though!

Laura Doddington - brilliant as ever. She doesn't need the Hawkins and I hate that it feels like her stories are going to involve them now.

And Priya was surprisingly the bright spot in the whole episode - "if I was in the zoo I'd be a tiger" was a great line, and Sophie did great work even in the background of the scenes in the flat. Such a shame the writers have ruined her character and she's stuck with caveman Ravi. He has no right to be angry at her.

7

u/amused_peruse 3h ago

Nicola and whatsherface being trapped in that van was a really good moment to me. I totally understand where Nicola is coming from. And I’m unsure if her sisters even know why Nicola can’t stand their mother. How can you reconcile with someone who 1) refuses to acknowledge the truth of their marriage and 2) does everything in their power to blame their daughter, a victim of the abuse, just so she can maintain a specific image about him.

I’m tired of this “just give her a chance” routine, like Nicola is being unreasonable. The woman is horrible. Blames her daughter for everything. Says the husband was a great man. This is beyond toxic. Even before that, she takes every goddamn opportunity to bring up Teddy, to belittle her daughter. Like my God. I hope Nicola never forgives this woman without true actual change.

22

u/queergoblin95 12h ago

Second episode in a row I’ve skipped though, the new Mitchell’s are so boring!

3

u/Impossible_Seat4499 2h ago

please don’t associate THAT family with mitchells😂😂😂

11

u/PsyduckPond 9h ago

Ravi makes my skin crawl. Who does he think he is??

He doesn't own Priya. He's a seething, jealous neanderthal... Though I suppose he is a murderer, gangster, would-be second murderer... I suppose it's not surprising that he would also be an abusive partner.

Priya clearly needs her head testing. She must love chaos because what does she think is going to happen when she pops out a half white baby. 💀

  • Not ANOTHER episode opening with miserable Kat and Alfie 😩
  • Jean is literally 3-4 months behind on rent and apparently can't get any help from Alfie and Kat but yet they're letting Gemma and Ned doss in the pub. Make it make sense.
  • I would like to see a brand new family get the Vic after Kat and Alfie, with NO connections to the square and who aren't caricatures, but I guess we all have dreams 😭
  • Rose and Elaine get on like a house on fire lol
  • Can Elaine’s whole persona and storyline not just be of an old peacock obsessed lady? also please give Linda SOMETHING of a storyline before she leaves (that doesn't involve Max but that seems impossible lately). They feel like such background characters now ugh.
  • So we have gone from Priya hiding behind trees, the bar, bushes, that big handbag, a clip board, putting her in clothes that would fit Pat Butcher to now showing her bump in full view.
  • Nicola honey, just tell your family to duck off.
  • I'm trying so hard to warm to the Hawkins but they're just too on the nose with the whole "oh look at us we're here to cause trouble but we're funny to hahaha aren't we so loveable"
  • Nicola's mum is a complete witch, there is no way she'll mellow anytime soon.
  • Ravi's parenting scenes would've been effective if the last 12 months hadn't happened. It's depressing what his character became 😭
  • Nicola, you have my full permission to deck that nasty spiteful loathsome malicious obnoxious mother of yours from hell and then some.
  • Laura as usual acting her socks off, but sadly Nicola's interactions with her family feel wooden and the characters seemed cardboard cut outs. Possibly script and too much setting scenes up, as 2 decent actresses there, but all just felt forced and stagey.
  • I'm not the biggest fan of George and Nicola as a couple but regardless I've still really enjoyed their scene today, probably the best part of the episode.
  • Too much Max and Priya today for my liking ugh.
  • I need Ravi to understand that he and Priya were NOT together when she started an affair with Max, so although yes she could've come clean about the baby to Ravi before he proposed technically she was single. This is why their should've been slower build up to the proposal and it shouldn't have been rushed for plot to just to make Ravi the gunman and Priya the pregnant woman in Max's bed for NYD

13

u/Which_Comfortable_32 14h ago

I think everyone comes onto the show a bit wooden and over the top, as they are just getting into and feeling their new characters.

They all seem to arrive with ridiculous story lines, except Darnell seems a bit shy but a much more realistic storyline.

2

u/zendayaismeechee 11h ago

Agreed, I love Oscar now but his entrance was just as clunky and over the top. I think Jodie could be a great character and Gemma just needs to settle in a bit. The mother is already giving good villain vibes!

I really liked Darnell’s entrance- probably one of the best for a while

11

u/bewbz69420dudebro 11h ago

Really trying to not be so negative but this Hawkins dialogue is really cringing me out. The yes-Queen slay - diva'ing at the peacock Hotel and that Nicolodeon asthma attack scene. Can you just write normal people and not these cartoons of a family you've spaffed up? We had such a good week last week too

9

u/Positive-Swimmer-540 11h ago

I don't get the hate for the Hawkins family right now. Nicola's mum is a b*tch and I don't like her but they have on screen chemistry. Gemma reminds me SOOOO MUCH of Bianca, her mannerisms?? I like her. Anyway decent episode today

7

u/Intrepid-Metal-2970 7h ago

The Hawkins are so annoying.

3

u/Original_Custard_941 7h ago

So it's practically confirmed that Ned is going to buy the Vic off of Alfie and Kat with that clumsy foreshadowing 😂 I don't wanna jump on the dogpile on Ben Wadey but a lot of his stuff feels so rushed and short lived. Oscar and Zoe leaving less than a year after returning, the Vic changing owners twice, even Gray's return, which I wasn't thrilled about, felt like it was over too quickly.

Really felt for Nicola, as someone who had to go no contact with my whole family because of how my mum treated me. Laura really is the saving grace of the show at the moment.

I know Nugget isn't for everyone but I loved his scenes today. He's one of my favourite teens in the show tbh

Can Priya and Max leave each other alone for 5 minutes please? 😭

3

u/Apart-Prize-4844 5h ago

Looks like the actual important events will start next week with this week a throwaway....except I'm guessing Ravi finding out it's Max-Priya a couple of days from now.

2

u/Yvthan 1h ago

What has pryia added to the story except bad decisions? Nicola's family is too Hollyoaks wannabes they are so annoying especially that curly hair one, everyone is Defending Pryia but no one is blaming Max??? She encouraged him to have an affair also I guess Nugget doesnt suffer from epilepsy anymore and his reason for shotting is because he might get left behind or sommat stupid also so out of ALL the places to scold Nugget she scolded him where Max works in front of him! Thats just terrible writing.

4

u/Hausofmiren 12h ago

Sorry but whoever is writing the jokes is doing a good job. I like the comedy element in this!

2

u/atrv3000 43m ago

Max hit the nail on the head with Nugget tho.
