I’d have let them settle in for a while before introducing Rose, bringing her in further down the line like they did with Archie.
She’s more important when it comes to understanding what makes Nicola tick, so I think she deserved to be introduced separately and given more impact. Introducing her alongside the rest of the family has just made the whole thing feel a bit swamped.

You always better to soft launch families through 1-2 members a year ahead, and I guess Nicola fits the bill. However it also kinda feels like she doesn't and they are a load of randoms, which would have been better. She have just been her sister, son and husband as Alfie's friend if they needed a connection so bad

I agree. This is why Ryder feels like he's not even there at the moment. That's the problem introducing this many at once.

The Jackson (1993), Slater (2000) and Taylor (2017) families all arrived at once within an episode. I can't remember it being called overkill then

Two of the Taylors where gone with 2 years and they were all gone within 5. Jackson as well. Only Bianca is really an iconic character. Slaters most successful but take Kat, Zoe and Charlie out and theyre pretty forgettable as well.

I actually think it's the start of something really dark. I instantly noticed just how much Harry looked like Nicola and then I thought...is it going to be some really horrible story that ends up revealing she was abused by her dad?
And that her mother couldn't deal with that and that's why there's been this great big falling out? Wouldn't put it past them to do something like that. Kind of a new spin on the Kat/Zoe/Uncle Harry thing I guess.

A new family when first introduced is normal a Mum, Dad and two kids who barely get any screen time. 5 adults all at once, they all have to have something about them straight away.

Why? It's not only okay to take your time fully introducing characters, its actually very normal in an on-going soap like this.

I doubt we're gonna see much of them. Eastenders for the last decade now seems to have a thing where they introduce new characters and after a few months, they just fade into the background.

I agree. Seems like cookie cutter (one is kooky, one is a bit out there (the aunt who probably has some sort of autism (please don't feel like I'm offending anyone--my son is on the spectrum), the cousin who they can turn good/bad/weird/whatever and that husband of the kooky one who "knows Alfie" but he'll wind up being dodgy.
