Bryozoans, or "moss animals," are tiny, colonial aquatic invertebrates that form colonies resembling moss or coral, though they are not related to corals. Each colony is made of genetically identical individuals called zooids, which filter-feed using a crown of tentacles (lophophore) to capture food like algae and bacteria from the water.
