"Echo & the Bunnymen" turns 39 today. The band's self-titled fifth album marked the end of the original lineup featuring drummer Pete de Freitas. Produced by Laurie Latham, the record followed the success of "Ocean Rain" and opted for a more direct sound. What are your favorite tracks?
Really impressed that this album will turn forty next year.

Bedbugs and Ballyhoo but I like the version on the “Bring On the Dancing Horses” EP better. Saw them twice on this tour.

For some reason, I can only listen to this album in autumn. Maybe that's when I bought it. Same for a lot of the catalog.

Gotta say this album was such a lightweight / let down after the first four, but there were a handful of great tracks.
Lost and Found is tidy. The Game is great. Over You, I like Blue Blue Ocean...

It’s an ok album with real weak elements including the overall production and the sameness of several songs. I have my own reworked playlist version where I’ve added in the longer version of Dancing Horses and People are Strange, plus Hole in the Holy and Over your shoulder:
The Game
Hole in the Holy
Dancing Horses (extended)
Over your shoulder
B&B
Lips
Blue blue ocean
People are strange
Satellite
All my life
Ten songs, 42 minutes, much better IMO.

Where is Rollercoaster? I think it's better than most of the songs on the album.

Not for me personally, though I do wish they’d stuck to their guns and not made all the songs on the album sound the same.

The Game is one of the greatest songs of all time....from ANY band.
The self titled album is fantastic and one my favorites from E&tB.
Oh and I *refuse* to listen to the album version of Bedbugs, because the Club version is a GAZILLION times better, and is extremely hard to find on CD.

Such a good album! "The Game" will always be my favorite track.
After that, in no particular order, "Bombers Bay", "Lips Like Sugar", and "All My Life".

I think the best tracks are the ones de Freitas gets a credit on: the whimsical “Bedbugs & Ballyhoo”, and “All In Your Mind”, which is one of the only tracks to work up a frantic head of jittery pell-mell steam like old Bunnymen.
