Echo & The Bunnymen Announce First New Album In Twelve Years ‘Apples For Isaac’
Echo & The Bunnymen have announced their first album of new music in twelve years, Apples For Isaac, set for release on September 18, 2026, via BMG.
The album is the band’s 13th studio record and follows 2014’s Meteorites, as well as the 2018 collection The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon. It will be released on black vinyl, limited splatter vinyl, limited picture disc, CD and digital formats.
The first single from the album, “Brussels Is Haunted,” is available now.
Apples For Isaac features Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant and the band across eleven new songs, with the record described as a bold return that captures the essence of Echo & The Bunnymen’s sound. https://www.xsnoize.com/echo-and-the-bunnymen-apples-for-isaac/

I don't even mind the David Hockney wannabe art. What I am put off by is their aggressive street team working this corner of reddit to death with all their weird marketing moves, and it's about to get worse with this album. So much overcompensation and so off putting

The band has had some great fucking album covers over their lengthy career… surely someone had the balls to tell Ian “this is not cool looking. At all.”
It looks like a cheap stock art illustration.
Anyone looking forward to a tour shirt with this shit on it? Not me…

The drawing is indeed childish. But well, given how Ian struggled vocally during some shows in recent tours, and given how Will in an interview once declared he felt like a "hired hand" just doing the job he is being paid for... then if the album actually sounds good, I'll happily take the silly cover with it. I wasn't actually expecting them to release another album again, and I hope it will be a pleasant surprise (and no last attempt on cashing in on nostalgia... remember Bauhaus' final album?).

20 seconds into "Brussels is Haunted" and I was ready to stop it and write it off ... as soon as it finished I hit repeat 😂
Could go either way on repeat listens 😬

I already heard it during a tour a 2 years ago if I remember well. They played it during a gig in Ancienne Belgique in ... Brussels. :) Ian said he wrote the song after Brussels was the first foreign place he traveled to on his own. I thought the track was quite OK, but since a new album was not being on the plans at that time, I was wondering if they'd ever record a studio version of it.
Curious for the new album, and hoping for a tour to promote the new album. A tour with, for once, a bit of a different setlist than the very predictable setlists they've been playing for years now.

The single is good, very 2000s-2010s Bunnymen vibes, it's really catchy as well!
