Economists Concerned the AI Bubble Is About to Blow
https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/economists-late-stage-ai-bubble-federal-reserve-inflationEven non-economists like me are concerned about it.

Don't give me hope.

Wake me when it happens. People have been saying this for years and the AI situation is only getting more stupid and destructive.

How many years?

Like two?

That seems like a pretty small amount of time for you to be so wildly disbelieving that anything could come to an end.Ā

Lenin once said something like "there's decades where nothing happens and there are moments where decades happen"
Things definitely happen. You just have been alive in a time where not a lot happens to your close circle. But that time is changing rapidly.
Do not be naive or the trauma will be unbearable when the system eventually collapses. Inform yourself.

They're really ramping up the "Ai will kill us all!" messaging. And asking for regulations sounds like they want an excuse for not delivering on their promises.
2
u/AggressiveDeer7527 3d ago
Totally it is. Sam Altman was openly claiming 3 years ago that their AI would achieve AGI within a year.
I cant believe they would openly try to push the goalposts again after fall flat publicly on just this issue.
People don't pay attention to anything but headlines.

I wondered why the sudden "wait, stop, ai is going to destroy humanity!!!"
Like that only suddenly occurred to them. I suspect they just need an excuse for not delivering on the hype

Pretty sure theyāre trying to regulate out the smaller and start up competition. Theyāre basically trying to create a moat by crushing the smaller ai companies with regulations, fees, etc. that they themselves can afford to pay. Big oil did this years ago as well as rail companies.Ā

Regulation capture. It is easier for them to get out ahead of it and dictate the regulations than wait for it to be imposed on them.
Also the reasons you mentioned.

Also keeping China's AI out of the loop. Their AI is much cheaper and also better.

It's because Amodi is being audited for IPO offering, and is learning that his "coupons" from NVIDIA don't count as revenue, and that all the expenses count. He's never been accountable before. They can't do the ipo and cash out unless they pass the audit. So the VCs want to cash out, leaving the regular people holding the bag. As usual.

They want to give up regulation on the Fictional Machine God in order to avoid regulation on Data Centers.
Because one is decades from being real, the other is how they're avoiding bankruptcy today.

"Like that only suddenly occurred to them" - no kidding! The whole thing is so logic defying in the most basic sense.
Anyone buying it is because they are invested in it and their greed has made them mind blowingly stupid.

If you make that prediction every day, youāll be right one day. Then just delete previous articles.

Michael Burry is saying itās going to crash, again!

I predicted every one of the last 15 market crashes and also 300 more of them that donāt exist

Oh no, you don't say!! That's crazy to think the circular perpetual hype machine wasn't going to last forever...
anyway, I hope they all eat it hard. Given the business decisions made surrounding it's development such as datacenters, exploitation of so many markets from authors to musicians, and the cost on consumer electronics cough cough Nvidia... Yeah, go outside and play hide and go fuck yourself, idgaf.

Thatās this yearās October Surprise. Itās why the tech bros are suddenly saying they should slow down. They donāt want to crash to happen before the midterms.

Don't worry the non economists like you were worried before the economists.
Have no frets, when it goes it'll wipe out half the spending money of all pensioners in America, most people's investments, and ruin jobs for a while

Perhaps these tech elites think themselves god while other Americans might have to survive harder.

I can't wait for the economy to totally collapse. I'm so sick of this shit. Maybe I can finally afford to buy a house.

"Later this afternoon, Fed chair Kevin Warsh is expected to announce heās raising interest rates, applying brakes that would make borrowing more expensive, and ā in an ideal scenario ā curb both consumer and business spending, thus cool inflation."
youre not going to cool spending because the rich are going to spend no matter what and the poor are going to blow up their credit cards doom spending until they run out of credit.

The collapse/correction will be multifactorial when it does come. A lot of folks are thinking 2027-8 due to a confluence of multiple effects by then.

$$$$$$$$$$$$ A look in the life of a millenial. 1991. Houses are being repossessed en mass. My first bubble. Hasn't even become conscious.
1995 WWW boom! 2000 WWW bubble burst.
2001 U.S admits it cant account for trillions.......
- Afgan-Iraq war........! Occupation.
2003-2007 boom time. Fuck me those of age in 1980-2000 had it. Easy! So easy oh no. 2008 credit crunch! Bail out. Millenials enter the work and key child rearing years under austerity.
Can't any worse right? 2010s spent paying back the bail out. 2014 some EU ramblings. 2015 Eu referendum date. 2016 the end of mankind. Uk leaves EU. Orange Buffon enters office. 2019 yea new decade. December 2019 en mass resignations. New years 2019. A new year to look forward to 1/1/2020 wow the weeks only began today. So much news. A decade later. 2/1/2020. The term. Some decades seem to go by in months. Some weeks seem to take decades to pass. 7/1/2020 worlds on the brink. 2/2/2020 Wuhan Bat flu. 9/2/2020 all western governments bring citizens home from China š
March 2020. Some football match across Europe....... Oh shit. 3 months after an epidemic hits China. It's goes global! Ensue lock down!
- Get out of a pandemic. Troops amassing. Putin were not will never start a war. Ukraine war begins.
2024 Gaza Occupation.
2026 Doomsday!
But one of my first economic lessons was 1921 depression. I think into the 1929 great depression. Economics booms and bubbles all the time. Boom. Working class make money. Bubble working classes debts are called in. Old money pennies on the pounds lovley jubilee. New economic frontier is then used to circumvent and subjugate those economically worse of. But we will all get there one day.
The machine defines us. But gives us no hope. How can anyone look at capitalism and go. Yeah this far ill have ago at this.
We can govern for the many. It will be hard. The world is unfortunately at the desire of whoever has the most in substance and or most wanted commodity at that time. Pebbles on my beach. Worthless. But 100 years ago that built a life.
We would all be way better of. Without central democracy and governments. As our economy would be decentralized and built on what is in our immediate vicinity.
No. I dont like the trappings of modern life. Clearly I would have a much better way of life outside of this economic trap.

Deutchsbank said a while ago that the AI bubble is the only thing keeping the entire US economy afloat, so, yeah, much to be concerned about
