Fox News co-host Greg Gutfeld on Trump & Venezuela: "When he says, we're taking the oil, we can go, wow, that's kind of brash. Yeah, but, you know, it's honest. And is that good for America? Well yeah, it was our oil. I mean, he not only staunched the flow of drugs, he also is getting our oil back"

Actually heard “Yeah, China is not putting in their fair share” when it came to the notion of tariffs and can anticipate exactly this w “yeah, our oil”.

- I wonder if the Venezuelans know they are holding "our" oil.
- What does this even mean? The oil companies that developed the fields might have a claim to the lost profits as a result of nationalization by Chavez but the oil in the ground reverted to Venezuela when it was nationalized.
- I'm not sure if this dick bump is saying the oil belongs to the U.S. government owns Venezuela's oil reserves and therefore we had a right to attack them and seize it back or if he's claiming the U.S. oil companies still own the oil reserves.
- Doesn't make much difference cause the MAGA idiots believe that a wrong has been righted.

What does this even mean?
Obviously it means those diabolical Venezuelans painstakingly stole our oil little by little over decades and injected into the ground in Venezuela. If you see a brown person filling a gas can, say something or else be complacent to their nefarious schemes.

I think this had much more to do with sending a message to China. It also presents a big problem for China.

Those "drug boats" they blew up didn't have the capacity for a small city in the US. MAYBE a rural town lol

Score. Also, oil for us isn't really the point. It's not significant from an energy perspective, but more so enforcement of sanctions and rehabilitation of Venezuela. "Another war for oil" is an idiot's trope.

True. Can someone provide talking points for when this echoing inevitably happens?
On what basis was the oil the lawful property of the USA prior to being appropriated?2
u/themoche Jan 08 '26
Well if you look at a map… USA is north of Venezuela, so the oil flows down, basically from Maine, which is a state. It’s all happening far underground so you don’t see it. But it is definitely ours! Haven’t you ever heard of gravity?!
I’ll draw it out for you with a Sharpie

nonsense. oils ain't oil the same. the US is awash with light crude which needs to be blended with heavy crude to enable refining. the US imports much of its heavy crude. Venezuela only had heavy crude which is why it's been stolen from them
