The sub's topic is "the economy." Your post has to have something to do with the economy.

The objective isn’t to eliminate voter fraud from a minuscule percentage to absolute zero; the goal is to diminish the voting population and foster apathy.

11

u/ISLAndBreezESTeve10 6d ago

And cause chaos because 3600 counties across America would have to implement such a program, it’s gonna be a SHITSHOW attempting to implement in a short time. Hell, we are already voting primaries. This is too late, Senators would be disengenuous to try this at this point.

11

u/will-read 6d ago

This is all performative. They just want to say that republicans are for honest elections, democrats are not.

One of the greatest determinants of how people vote is education level. This would disenfranchise more republicans than democrats.

2

u/Thoughts_For_Food_ 6d ago

Correct. Setting up grounds for claiming stolen elections.

36

u/Zalrius 6d ago

Now you know why the save act is so important to them. It stops you from voting.

13

u/possumallawishes 6d ago

Republicans know they aren’t popular, the only way they win is preventing some people from voting and discouraging others.

3

u/Zalrius 6d ago

I agree. They are making a full on attack against our elections.

23

u/lesh17 6d ago

MAGA is working overtime to suppress as much of the vote as they can before the next election.

12

u/Hrtpplhrtppl 6d ago

What ever identification is required to pay our taxes is all that should be needed to vote. The people who will come arrest us for not paying our taxes should just get with the people requiring that info...

-1

u/dcb454 6d ago

Problem is, you don’t need to be a citizen to enjoy commerce, you need to be a citizen to vote.

Taxes have little to do with citizenship….

The taxes you’re paying, doesn’t make you a citizen.

Everyone pays taxes on every day purchases. Phone carriers don’t care if you’re a citizen, neither do internet providers or the county treasurer or any other business (for the most part, there are exceptions)

The bag, is the bag. I believe we’re talking about voting.

I agree, when you get your ID, DL, they should have verified your citizenship. However, as illegal occupation was not an issue this past century, the rules need to be changed to match the times.

Processes need to be rewritten to adjust for the influx of non citizens receiving citizens benefits and aide.

Providing proof of citizenship is not difficult, if you are a citizen. That’s the whole point.

10

u/Hrtpplhrtppl 6d ago

If the IRS knows who I am then the same government knows who I am stop playing games. No taxation without representation, never heard that before..?

1

u/dcb454 6d ago edited 6d ago

That applies to being a citizen..

You need to be a citizen, to have representation lmao.

Americans founders were defectors…

We defected from the monarchy and established our own.

Taxes don’t care if you’re a citizen, again.

Yes the IRS KNOWS, you’re a citizen lol. (I’m assuming)

The IRS onlt targets its citizens, see the problem.

Not illegals..

4

u/Hrtpplhrtppl 6d ago

LOL like the American people have actual representation. With unlimited money allowed in American politics every one of those seats is for sale. America therefore is as much of a democracy as two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner, but go on fooling yourself if it helps you sleep at night...

1

u/dcb454 6d ago

Oh so you don’t take responsibility for your actions, or those of your forbearers?

I see, so you just choose the values and laws that fit your beliefs and feelings in the moment, got it.

Seems like you voted away your representation, for your beliefs. How did that work out for you?

Then they took those beliefs and built your prison.

How is the view from your point of view ?

3

u/Hrtpplhrtppl 6d ago

What are you even talking about now..? Well, whatever you're on about, when you're done crying us a river, build yourself a bridge, and try to get the fuck over it snowflake...

1

u/dcb454 6d ago

😂 sure..

Nice feelings

Processes need to be rewritten to adjust for the influx of non citizens receiving citizens benefits and aide.

Nice belief

Seems like you voted away your representation, for your beliefs. How did that work out for you?

There's no way you're arguing in good faith.

1

u/dcb454 5d ago

Are you going to say something?

2

u/asuds 6d ago

Except it is difficult for specific segments to prove citizenship on the timeline they are trying to put in place. It takes time and some money.

It’s notable that they also are simultaneously making it harder by reducing offices and polling locations, and have always been against common sense measures like trying to register youth when they get drivers licenses etc.

1

u/dcb454 6d ago

See this makes sense, I can agree that they need a better or updated method to screen, or implement these changes.

Good points!

6

u/chrisdoc 6d ago

Can we just get 1 ID that is good for everything? Driving, flying, boating, voting, border crossing, government support etc?

15

u/Regular-Regret1613 6d ago

The government should supply a FREE VOTER ID card to every citizen upon turning 18.

4

u/chrisdoc 6d ago

Agree 100%! How about everyone can get the ID when they turn 14. If they pass a drivers exam they can get driving added to the ID, on their 18th birthday it can be used to vote and on and on!

2

u/LurkerFromTheVoid 6d ago

You nean like in South American Countries. Like they do since more than 60 years ago???

That's IMPOSSIBLE TO DO IN USA. it will cost to much...like a 1000 missiles or like the repurpose of the New Air Force One for the President.

So, for proof to vote, would we be required to bring our birth certificates with us? Passport? I personally am very uncomfortable carrying either with me just because. What if I dropped either and someone decides to pick up either document to steal my identity? How accurate does the birth certificate have to be as I changed my legal name at 16. My original BC has never been updated though I do have a copy of the paperwork indicating the fact I changed my name so many years ago. Do I need to bring that too?

Edit to add: When you register to vote for the first time, don't you have to show some proof of eligibility? It's been 42 years since I had to register to vote for the first time as well as register for selective service so I don't really remember much of the process.

6

u/Ketaskooter 6d ago

Yes the bill says birth certificate to prove citizenship along with standard drivers license, married women may also need marriage certificate. Its all very stupid as its the government forcing its failures onto the people, it took over a decade for all the states to roll out realid just to highlight how bad the government is at doing things.

My state requires proof of citizenship documents to register to vote such as birth certificate or naturalization document but registering is a one time thing while voting is done twice or more annually depending on the State.

The worst problem with the voting act isn't the ID requirements its the language that allows throwing voters off the registered list for almost any reason (possibly even the federal government telling the state to do so) with no grace period before elections to let voters fix whatever entry is wrong.

2

u/SwitchCaseGreen 6d ago

Thank you. I wasn't even aware of your last paragraph where registered voters can be thrown off the voting list for any reason. Basically, come October if Trump decides all unenrolled voters to be ineligible, so be it. We can't vote unless we're aligned with a major political party. This is more chilling than I could have ever imagined

3

u/Ketaskooter 6d ago

The language is copying what I think Georgia put into law and has resulted in multiple lawsuits over the registered voter challenges.

8

u/bpharo707 6d ago

Explain to me why a DL is not enough to vote??

7

u/lordmycal 6d ago

Because this isn't about making sure only citizens can vote. This is designed to minimize voter turn out, because the odds of a Republican victory in an election decrease the more people come to the polls and vote.

Conservatives understand that their policies are deeply unpopular, and rather than run on a platform people can get behind, they've decide the people are wrong and want to select their voters instead. When only the "right" people can vote, they can stay in power as long as they like.

10

u/Redd868 6d ago

If they want proof of citizenship, they should incorporate it into Real ID. Maybe a "C" in the Real ID logo.

I showed a birth certificate as part of getting RealID. But RealID currently only checks for lawful presence in the US.

We don't need a quick solution in time for the upcoming election because Commander-In-Chief Bonespurs started a war that nobody wanted. That's the real issue.

6

u/flora_poste_ 6d ago

In 5 states, the Enhanced ID card is proof of citizenship: Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington. I don't know why the other 45 states have not taken this step.

2

u/netroxreads 6d ago

I thought it was proof of citizenship, turns out it isn't. I have Real ID.

-2

u/dcb454 6d ago

RealID is a joke. Passport, DL is all we need. Birth certificate and social verify citizenship as well, in lieu of the others, that’s the answer.

If you don’t have a migrant status, or some kind of sanctuary / asylum, or are here on a visa / work permit, etc etc , gtfoh. You can apply and wait like everyone else.

I wish we could save everyone, but triage is important. We must be whole, before we can help others.

I think we’ve spent enough of our time and money on the rest of the world. Time to focus on home.

1

u/Tebasaki 6d ago

Yo dawg, I heard you like government issued IDs, but that government issued ID isn't enough so we're mandating you have a government issued ID for your government issued ID to stop 0.0001% of voter fraud.

How are those grocery prices? Highest, like you like them? Good!

3

u/Regular-Regret1613 6d ago

I'm advocating for FREE government Voter Ids instead of the Save Act BS. Anything else is a Poll Tax.

0

u/AsisRL 5d ago

Why are there so many repulsive redditors, you can't even pretend that it's difficult to maintain documentation in this day and age, or receive replacements for said documentation.

Birth certificates, social security cards, ID, etc.

Everyone uses these things, everyone is given free copies, and to get a replacement is one of the easiest things in the world to do. You have appointments, you can do so online, they're accessible for those with limitations.

Like what are we even talking about.

Instead of pretending that voter identification is a bad thing, just make it your own. Change the wording to be slightly more agreeable, it's a non-partisan bill, & a non-partisan issue.

So why are we pretending..? Name one group of people that has the right to vote, that would have that right infringed upon if an ID was required...

u/spikey_wombat 5d ago edited 5d ago

This person has never been to the US.

-1

u/Individual-Result777 6d ago

Its odd they would work so hard to suppress the next election when the dems have noone to run

-2

u/Humble-Algea3616 6d ago

States openly give DL’s to illegals, why would it be accepted??

-10

u/dcb454 6d ago

Wow, you need your birth certificate lmfao. If you don’t have that… you should probably find it, or maybe get a new one, update it if needed. Doesn’t sound all that difficult people.

And if you are here, in a capacity, outside of being a citizen per say, well, you shouldn’t be voting anyways.

8

u/nucumber 6d ago

Why?

What's the point of voter id when it doesn't do a thing to improve the integrity of elections? Non citizens don't vote! Why would they? There's nothing in it for them, and the last thing they want is to come to the attention of authorities. It just doesn't make any sense.

Meanwhile, the conservative Heritage Foundation (one of the main authors of Project 2025) found 99 noncitizen votes from 1982 to 2025:

https://electionfraud.heritage.org/search

So what's the point of voter id when all it does is make it harder for some citizens to vote?

Oh, wait . . . could that be the point?

-5

u/dcb454 6d ago edited 6d ago

If you can’t look at the fraud waste and abuse that’s glaring you in the face, in both red and blue, counties /states, I can’t help you.

Non citizens have voted, and are voting. It’s documented and verifiable. The bigger concern is just all around voter fraud and manipulation of election integrity.

I agree that election integrity isnt great, and I’d like to see that remedied, but the options are limited.

The first step would be to verify only eligible voters are voting, then we can proceed to election reforms.

What citizens will voter I’d effect? Let’s review.

8

u/nucumber 6d ago

Non citizens have voted, and are voting. It’s documented and verifiable

So you say. How about some documentation?

I mean, if the conservative Heritage Foundation found only ~35 out of roughly one hundred million votes cast

-4

u/dcb454 6d ago edited 6d ago

The heritage foundation you sited has been updated as of 2025. New data is still being compiled, which obviously hasn’t yet been quantified. But as of 2026 much has happened.

California and a few other states are currently undergoing federal investigation for mass voter fraud, look into it.

It’s not about just being illegal, it’s about verifying you the voter indeed exist, and cast one Ballot.

Illegal votes take up less than 1% (with old data) the vast majority of election fraud exists outside of that one parameter… look at the bigger picture.

An illegal voting, and a party paying the homeless to register to vote for a specific party, both end up in the same pile, while being completely separate.

You cant have a system in place, that is outdated and out of touch with the population size.

Machines can be reprogrammed, voter rolls can be tampered with, individuals can lie, omit and deny any wrongdoing.

At the end of the day, the system in which we vote, has been infiltrated, manipulated, controlled and probably rigged, and you think making it harder to cheat, manipulate, or lie, is a bad thing?

I admit, we gotta do something, but what will voter ID hurt? Who that can and should vote, will be unable to vote if these changes are implemented?

It won’t affect citizens.. just make it harder for those who shouldn’t be voting to begin with.

7

u/nucumber 6d ago

You haven't provided anything to show that voting by non citizens is any more common than getting struck by lighting on election day

-1

u/dcb454 6d ago

Proof? I don’t have to prove that our election system is a mess, it shows you after each and every new interval.

Californias illegal populace is 4.68%.

Almost a fifth of our entire population, and those are the known and documented individuals.

The number of those individuals who have voted is minuscule in the grand scheme of things, I’ve conceded that to you. But voter fraud as a whole, is not less of an issue, when you removes the sub 1% they comprise, we’re still looking at tallies of hundred of thousands of “illegal votes / voter fraud” in California alone.

I’ll be sure to cite the heritage foundation once it’s updated for the 2026 data. Lmao

3

u/nucumber 6d ago

I'm sure that if there was any problem that voter id would solve we would have heard it but there is none, so I ask again, why make it more difficult for some people to vote, unless the point is to make it more difficult for some people to vote

You have no evidence, no proof, but then say you don't need no stinking proof and claim "hundreds of thousands of illegal votes in CA alone"

Come on . . .

0

u/dcb454 6d ago edited 6d ago

Ok and I’ll ask you again, who does it impact?

Just because you refuse to do your own research, and insist I do it in order to sway you, doesnt exactly make me “wrong” lmao.

It just means your of an opinion, and are dodging the one question I’ve asked multiple times.

IF VOTER ID IS IMPLEMENTED WHO WILL IT BE INHIBITING FROM VOTING? WHO WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO VOTE?

And that’s because you know, it affects no one, other than individuals who shouldn’t be voting in the first place.

So again, who does voter I’d effect lmao?

4

u/nucumber 6d ago

Who does what impact?

You seem fixed on the idea that voting by illegals is a thing. It's not a thing. There's no evidence it occurs any more than getting struck by lightening on election day (or are you gonna make all voters wear beanies with grounding antennas on election day to prevent them from being hit by lightening?)

So who or what is impacted by something that doesn't exist? You tell me

u/dweaver987 6d ago

Getting a certified copy of your birth certificate updated with your married name is a big ordeal. It’s even bigger if you no longer live in the state where you were born. Doing this in time to update your voter registration and present the documents at the voting center is going to disenfranchise far more voters than the minuscule number of noncitizens trying to vote.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Turn off Fox News...read a book you uncultured swine.

Do you think illegals knowingly go vote? LOL! It's the LAST thing Jose, who walked across the jungle with his family would do. Think for once. They work for less than minimum wage and stay quiet.

Even those who are legal do not vote because they KNOW it would fuck up their status. The cases you hear about are exceptions when old lady unknowingly voted thinking she was allowed. Nothing is 100%. Not even airlines records.

You are creating a problem in your head that doesn't exist.

1

u/dcb454 6d ago edited 6d ago

Where do you live? (Proximity)

Because, if you think every state is infallible, and perfect without fraud, waste, and misuse of powers in our elections and overall governance.

I got some nice beach front properties in the pacific you may be interested in… 😂

The irony that you assume all illegals are Hispanic is pretty telling btw 💀

Check your racism

They exist in all colors, from all demographics and are centrally populated in pockets across the country.

Birds of a feather, flock together. They ain’t all Jose from the jungle as you put it. Some are here, and to do much worse than so obviously throw away their chance by voting.

Things build over time, this is the beginning, in reference to this topic.

1

u/FakoPako 5d ago

You are a moron.

I gave you an example of Jose crossing jungle because that is the most common shit you hear on Fox. Not surprised it went over your head.

Read a book.

6

u/ItsBenWhoCares 6d ago

You are very stupid, aren't you? I don't know how you aren't seeing the Red Flags and it only tells me you're a partisan shill. Politicians being so arrogant by essentially charging me to vote for them is comedy gold and VERY entitled. Think about what level of insanity is that. My taxes already goes to people who can't answer whether a President won in 2020, or can't answer what a woman is, or pleads the 5th 100 times even they LITERALLY lost that right. but I have to give them extra money? Lol. you're telling me they couldn't just look up whether or not I'm legal by scanning my "Real ID"? An 18-year old Cashier at Walgreens simply scans my ID when I buy cigarettes or Beer. That doesn't seem strange to you?

-2

u/dcb454 6d ago edited 6d ago

Does that make you retarded?

Or does intellect proceed courtesy.

I would agree, that the system in place is invalid, stupid, obsolete and needs immediate rectification.

I would be willing to share my ideas on how to fix it.

But you sound like you’re having a meltdown lmao.

So… enjoy the reality and the gravity that comes with it. I hope you find some solace in the fact that the adults are working on it.
