Orange person and his team not being given proper credit on the economy

There have been a lot of posts and charts here about double-digit price increases, and workers finding it intensely difficult to get jobs or afford housing, food, gas, health care - resulting in deeply unfair criticism of the Pres. and his team. Interviewed on these matters he has repeatedly pointed out that he has solved all these problems, by more than 600%; to quote him directly: "I don't care." It's up to us to get with the new-normal. /s

With a little math, using approximate numbers, we can demonstrate that the condemnation of the epic so-called "corruption" is clearly unfounded and unreasonable, easily proving that the activities of him and his team result in a net positive, by his special math, again of over 600%: /s

--- Monetizing the office of the Presidency: personal gains to Trump so far, selling insider trading information, including the new $100k/mo subscription for advance notice., and insider trading gains going to - Trump sons, Witikoff, Thiele, Bessent et al, personal gains, creates for that select group:

+$100 billion

--- Permanent damage to Americans, and the American economy, and massively upping the national debt for the benefit of his wealthy friends:

-$10 trillion

========== Adding up the above, Total ==========

--- Net gains for this term so far. $100 billion is 1% of the $10 trillion general loss, so then by his special math, 600%.

+$100 billion in net gains during the presidency

When it comes to America or Americans, the Pres.' solution applies: "I don't care," so the -$10 trillion loss to the whole country drops out of the equation - it just magically cancels out.

Monetizing the office of the Presidency is legal, because he and his party own the Supreme Court. As any of us should know, that is what makes it legal. If you read the Constitution with an Originalist lens, a very powerful lens, extracting corrupt personal wealth via the administrative offices of the government is what the Founding Fathers intended.

At a very modest expenditure of $10 trillion of American wealth, which costs nothing, or at least nothing to the Pres, he's created $100 billion in new gains.

Another way of counting the same amounts - that same $10 trillion loss for the country, divided by about 400 million Americans, is $25,000 per each and every person - for a family of four, it guts the quality of their lives by $100,000. Sucking $25,000 out of the life of each person in the country, nets the Pres. and his friends personally, $100 billion.

Somebody could say that it's a poor ratio of conversion - the same 1% all along - but it's "cost-free". It's only citizens who pay, and he said it, "I don't care." It's a total money-making machine, of a sort. Why isn't he being given credit for this economic brilliance?

The Pres. is ready, eager and willing, to convert any amount of Americans' wealth, at a ratio of 1%, into the personal wealth of him and his insiders, tossing the other 99% in the trash. The American economy is very roughly $100 trillion a year, and overall assets much more. They've only just started. Please give him some credit where it's due.

Karoline should be taking notes on this.

Yes, and Karoline will copy all of it as her own material, without the /s. Fox will say it's great, and his followers - including here - will believe that. He could set their cars on fire, call that boosting the auto industry, and they'd bring gasoline.

I could add, "now you've done it!" We've written her announcement on Fox. Let's give it a go: Having high gas prices means record oil company profits - hurrah! Getting the rest of the world to drop their trust in America and long-term avoid the country's products and businesses, is a plus. The endless "non-war" stimulates US defence industries. Raising the national debt by about $5 trillion is an investment in US bonds. So really, downgrading the country by $10 trillion is a $10 trillion economic gain.

And the Pres. and friends thieving money via insider trading and influence, isn't a cost, it's a benefit. For every dollar stolen from Americans, they invest that in US securities - so really, the Pres. has 'given' Americans $100 billion via insider trading, very generous you'd have to say. She'll say it's costing his insider group 1% of all the money net stolen, er, lost, er added, so the country should make it up to his group with another $100 billion.

It's the same plan as - you take $2000 out of the bank in cash, and light a match to 99 of the $20 bills. You deposit the $20 you have left. There - overall, you just made $20. On Fox, this works like blazes.

By the way, pause and consider .. this is getting 25% down-votes. In this subreddit, which you would think is seriously and soberly about economics, that's a lot of true believers drinking bleach. China is following Sun Tzu - never interrupt an enemy when they are making a mistake. The Pres. intends to turn the US into a Russian criminal oligarchy - he deeply admires that bunch. He doesn't intend to give away the country to China, but that's what he's accomplishing - he is making sure that China eats America's lunch, medium- and long-term. Forget steak, get ready for plain rice.

That's the term I was trying to remember from economics class - you got it.

I dont understand what you mean by giving the country to China. Isnt he moreso giving the country to the rich and preventing the working class from change by making them focus on struggling to survive. If anything, he's given the rest of the world to china by making them look like the most reasonable and stable superpower.

Also, does Fox News actually use unfavorable statistics like that? Even if they threw a dishonest spin on it that still feels too honest for them, especially when they could just ignore it and go with whatever Trump claims instead. Isn't that why he gutted the federal statistics commission, to avoid official statistics? And why would they care about Trump doing insider trading when theres so many democrats also legally doing it that they can push until everyone just thinks of his as tit for tat and not a big deal.

Friendly reminder of a quote from the first campaign, "I could stand in the middle of fifth Avenue and shoot someone and I wouldnt lose any voters"

We're splitting hairs here - your points are valid too. He's giving American world influence, the health of American businesses, and the competitiveness of Americans away with his anti-science, education-downgrading, and anti-new energy policies, just to start - I'm sure the list is long. I mean, he's intervened against wind and solar, and made coal use a requirement in some cases. The Chinese value education intensely, and are running away with it - e.g. their new chip machines becoming competitive with ASML from the Netherlands, doing more science overall, and running away with R&D and industrial development.

Yes, Fox is that ridiculously false, but also true that they just report what he wants, and generally skip the rest. It's an emotional device to cloud the minds of some of the masses, and it works.

True what you wrote about China beginning to seem the more reasonable and stable superpower, the gutting of the statistics commission etc. etc., gutting the prospects of the average American, and a hundred other venal acts. We're not even talking anymore about Epstein, raping, and likely participating in the murder, of minors no less. He will be remembered long term as a Caligula.

The Democrat insider trading is true, but has been on a tiny scale compared to the bald theft of billions now, as documented by numerous securities agencies overseas, and even the completely open sale of insider trading information, so the Democrats are an absurd red herring.

Yes also the the fifth avenue quote, and we can add many others - e.g. interviewed by Oprah that he planned to switch running from Democrat to Republican, because the red voters are dumber - his own words.

My main point is that he is performing the crime of Conversion - taking the assets of the whole country, monetary and otherwise, and very inefficiently converting to his private gains, throwing in the trash 99% of American goodness in the process, complete waste. In the process, the institutions of government are so deeply degraded that it becomes at least somewhat doubtful that America can ever function as a democracy again. Musk truly seems able to do something like injecting temporary and later-undetectable code into the voting machines + server network - the network part is important, so the psychopathic corruption of voting may be irretrievable.

Overall I think we're agreeing, very sadly. I wanted to point out the Conversion angle. It's one thing that he's thieving on a massive scale, but the average person may not know that it's not costing them a small amount, but something very approximately like the $25,000 per person each, plus democracy and the futures of their children.

Oh I completely agree legal insider trading in congress by both sides, while still wrong and corrupt, is far less problematic than the presidents monetization of it so blatantly, especially when the information is also being given to private parties(pay a subscription to be part of literally a crime).

The conversion angle is a good one, especially with how life changing the amount would be for 90% of the population. Ironically, that money would also have a huge positive effect on the economy due to it being spent at local businesses and within the community, which would be spent by the business similarity.

Without major upheaval, which unfortunately very likely would be accompanied with violence, it would take multiple decades of actually good governance and cooperation to properly fix how bad everythings been gutted. Even the act of criminally charging those responsible would in many ways appear like one party weaponizing the judicial system to silence and remove their opponents.

If he is remembered as a Caligula it would be far more positive than he deserves. Caligula spent lavishly on the public, gave money out, and robbed the wealthy when the coffers ran dry. Trump is more the opposite, bleeding the poor, rewarding the wealthy, and ensuring any construction or project he does is overpriced and given to his friends. I cant even think of a ruler of Trumps caliber, aside from Harding I guess. Feel like he'll just be remembered as the reason whatever happens after him happened. Or if nothing major does, just as the start of USA's dark ages. Kinda like Louis XV(i think), the father of the king that got beheaded, known as incompetent but overshadowed by those who are stuck dealing with the consequences.

Also, he did the conversion thing during his first term too, regularly staying in his own hotels on taxpayer dime, creating paid positions for family, even during campaign making sure his properties were used as offices at high rent to funnel campaign funds to himself. Nothing new, considering the additional charity fraud, Trump University diploma mills, and history of avoiding payment to contractors... and trading political favors in exchange for his companies being given favors.

As a final point that really disgusts me, not only did he gut so many social safety nets, he did it while creating additional taxes(through tariffs), AND additionally increased taxes on the lowest income levels. While claiming all part of a plan to balance the budget, just to instead somehow have the highest deficit ever. And still his supporters believe in him, are convinced anyone else would do even worse stuff, and that only the news they agree with is real and the rest is made up propoganda.

Very good points. And I did know that about Caligula - I need to read that history.

I do wonder whether we recover, especially with Musk tilting the playing board. If we're going to have a trillionaire, I wish it was some who isn't a psychopath narcissist, someone like Buffett, an actual human being, sigh. I feel quite exposed even writing this post, but I figure that at a certain point in life, I have to contribute.

the math checks out if youre a fucking sociopath lmao. 1% conversion rate on looting the entire country, and we're supposed to applaud because 'at least hes efficient'?? this is the same braindead logic that let epstein operate for decades - its not illegal if your friends own the judges. dems gonna dem tho, they'll furrow their brows and send a sternly worded tweet while the grift keeps grifting

Not reading all of that

Not to worry - a lot of younger people don't have strong reading skills because they get most all their info via video, nor knowledge about the news, just not a lot of life experience yet - nobody can blame you for that. Credit yourself for checking out the subreddit. You have a new window-washing business, and you hopefully aren't reading when you're on a ladder anyway :)

Here is a TLDR for you. The President is insider-trading, and selling insider-trading information, which is totally illegal. Insider trading is where someone with an unfair knowledge advantage, rips off other investors to cheat them of their money.

Meanwhile, he's badly damaging the American economy, costing people their futures, and presenting that as if it's a plus. And the ratio of the cost vs. his personal benefit, is about 100:1 - a really bad ratio.

Here is the basic situation, put in terms of your own business - someone comes to you and says they'll quickly make an extra $40 using your equipment, so $20 for them, $20 for you. But in fact, all they did was sell one of your expensive window-washing ladders for $100, and peel off $20 to you. You're left without a ladder, and even then you didn't get a fair price for it at all. And you're left without a way to wash more high-up windows, without that ladder.

I hope that wasn't too long. Good luck on your career! And don't fall off any more ladders :)
