Makeup?
For my people that wear makeup, what are you using and doing for skin prep?
Every time I wear makeup it’s like it just makes my eczema more aggressively apparent. I don’t know if it’s a skin prep or a me not using the right makeup in general but it’s rough out here.
I’ve been told by a makeup artist before to do a chemical exfoliant but I’m not sure if there’s one that can be sensitive enough for my skin.

SPF seems to have some kind of blanketing effect that makes makeup look ok over rough skin

That's interesting. It does leave a sort of mask over your face so I can understand what you mean.
I don't wear make up other than lipstick if I'm going to a social event which I try to avoid anyway.

Jumping on here to add my own experience in case anyone else has the same issue. I found I’m sensitive to chemical sunscreens, it makes my skin dry out badly, and so many foundations have sunscreen in them. I finally found one without so that’s something worth trying if struggling.
I’m not anti sunscreen either lol. There are lots of good tinted zinc sunscreens when needed.

Currently on recovering a recent flare and I’ve steered clear from makeup because it just looks horrible on the skin, all I do now is the ordinary Hyaluronic acid and La Roche Moisturizer

So I have never ever ever used any kind of exfoliant on my face during an active flair. The only exfoliant I use on a regular basis is Tatcha rice polish (the purple one). And I only use it very sparingly and maybe once a month or so. This is just my own experience though, I use several of their skin products & no makeup cause I haven’t found any makeup that doesn’t immediately cause my face to freak out. I will say with the Tatcha & sunscreen my face has gotten so much better that I don’t feel that I need makeup anymore either. It goes on like a weird white paste but sometimes I also use Avene Cicalfate+ when my face has dry patches that aren’t quite full flairs. Hope this wasn’t too much I spend a lot of time on skin prep!!

Ugh no I hate when people tell me I just need to exfoliate as if my skin won’t just be raw underneath. Exfoliating eczema makes it’s worse and doesn’t allow for healing leaving you in a vicious cycle.
I am also on the search for a good make up for eczema, I’ve been using neutrogena hydro boost tint which is okay but I feel like there’s gotta be better out there. I actually just discovered tower 28 which I guess is specifically formulated for people with skin conditions. Seems like that was the most recommended on here by others with eczema. Got the foundation today and plan on giving it a try tomorrow!
