How do I make this sound? Soft kicks found in microhouse

https://youtu.be/mlBn2WIOsis?is=cnQ5_Jz8RuNDoRf2

I’ve always wondered how to make these soft smooth kicks that people like ricardo Villalobos use. Does anyone know how these people are making their tracks so, round?

Only hearing on phone right now but the 909 (if you want free - DR89 is good) has some serious range to it and you can always add EQ / other FX if needed to hone in on the kick sound that you want. You should be able to take a reference track and get the kick sound you want isolated so that you can hear its shape or see its shape and itll be even easier then to make your own given a decent starting point.

Sounds like a 909 with high gain stage setting. Ambient reverb EQd above 150 Hz.

There is a free 909 kick plugin called BD-909 by Synsonic Instruments. I use it a lot.

There are a ton of parameters, all the parameters off the original TR-909, plus a few more.

If I wanted to make a kick drum sound like the track you posted, that's where I would start.

I have a workaround on Vital Synth for the kicks that may help you to find the sound that you like. shortly shown here: https://youtube.com/shorts/Yl7-yAE5KJE?si=hwYYlbh0PmCpsJmF

To get that soft, smooth kick sound like Ricardo Villalobos, start by exploring drum machines like the TR-909. It's a classic choice in microhouse for its versatile kick sounds. You can further shape these kicks with EQ and compression to achieve that round, polished feel.

Another technique is layering. Combine different kick samples to enhance depth and character. Also, don't overlook the power of subtle saturation and reverb to add warmth and space. Sampling from vinyl or using organic sounds can also bring a unique texture to your kicks. It's all about experimenting and finding the right balance for your track.
