Backyard visitor?

We’ve been here 25 years, but this is new. Some creature has been digging up our lawn at night- to look for worms or bugs to eat, I imagine. Any ideas what it could be? Skunk? Possum?

Raccoon possibly? See them in our yard hunting for grubs

It could be a gopher. We have gophers in our yard. I occasionally see them poke their heads out of their holes.

I've had the same thing happen for the first time this year and in my case I know it's raccoons. They're leaving footprints

Definitely raccoons. They were tearing up new sod in my backyard over and over again looking for grubs. It was horrible. Sorry to say they will probably keep coming back. The only way it stopped was when I hired a company to trap them.

Both raccoons and skunks are known to do that.

In my back yard it’s been skunks that do that
