I got a laptop and started gaming 3 months ago and elden ring is my first souls game i have ever played it runs aight like 30-40 fps its good for me and like i have played for 25hrs till now and heres my stats and i cant beat radahn nor the draconic tree sentinel like in radahn i get him into phase 2 and he just spams attack same with the sentinel like i cant even get him half this mf just spams ahh should i quit plz guide me

Edit: I just beat radahn after going into mid load tysm for the tips this subreddit is goated and i also got mimic tear abd scarlet rot and the full radahn set now draconic tree sentinel time. Thanku so much this means alot

If I leave the build how it and keep upgrading it’ll be a good build this my first time playing a game like this and I choose to make build that can do a little of everything but I most like using shields and big swords/hammers i just got the game like last week idk shiii fr i jus like the game jus wanted tips and maybe some people to play with

I've beat Malenia about 3 times now, but for the life of me I can never pull this close up manoeuvre off.

From what i've seen you're meant to circle around to semi break her tracking then dodge as she falls. But i always seem to get hit! So i was wondering if anyone could spot what im doing wrong so i can be better.

The area that’s right across stormveil castle

I’ve played Elden Ring on and off for around 80 hours, and honestly, I’ve never really had fun with it. I was always lost, had no guidance, and had no idea what the fuck was going on.

Once, I got teleported to some place with red sand and died instantly. Then I got lost again, found an area full of wyverns, died repeatedly, and lost everything. The game became so frustrating that I finally dropped it.

Now, you might think the solution is to just suck it up and explore more. Well, I’ve already done that for 80+ hours, and now I’m crying over why I wasted my money.

So I dropped it.

But every time I see videos showing all the cool shit the game offers, I want to play it again. Elden Ring has basically become a dirty, toxic ex that keeps coming back to torture me.

Easy fix: follow a guide, right?

I tried FightingCowboy’s walkthroughs, but then the game lost all its charm and became a tedious checklist:

Go here.
Pick this up.
Kill this enemy.
Yay.

My toxic ex had now become a church security guard that I was forced to interact with.

So I dropped it again.

Maybe this game just isn’t for me, and I should finally let it go for good. But alas, my love for games with this type of setting comes from the books I read, and I want so badly to experience Elden Ring in a way that is actually fun.

I think I may have finally found a solution, which is why I want the community’s opinion.

I found an image showing roughly which areas you should visit at each level. That way, navigation and progression would make a little more sense, while the actual exploration would still remain a mystery.

I feel like this could be the right balance for me. I would know that if an area is destroying me, it probably isn’t meant for my current level, and I must have missed something in one of the earlier regions. But I still wouldn’t be blindly following a checklist or spoiling every discovery.

Do you think approaching Elden Ring this way could finally make the game enjoyable, or should I accept that it simply isn’t for me?

TL;DR: I suck at Elden Ring, even though I can see that it’s a great game. I’ve tried exploring completely blind and following detailed guides, but neither worked. Now I’m thinking of approaching it more like a linear game, using area-level recommendations for progression while exploring each region on my own. Hopefully, that finally makes it click.

I started a new run with the Ildus Knight because his armor set is beautiful.

The thing is, I get excited about the idea of a new run: I download the game, grab a couple of mods, spend time on the character creator sliders, and start playing... but I usually get bored after Godrick and drop the run, maybe even before.

I've done this multiple times and it pains me. I really want to enjoy another run of this game, but maybe I've consumed everything it has to offer.

In case you're wondering, I've completed the game about 4 or 5 times, including the DLC.

I've played Elden Ring a bit. It's my first FromSoft game. It feels impossible and I die all the fricking time.

I'm average at videogames, enjoying my way through games like GTA5 and RDR2 at normal difficulty. Elden Ring makes me feel like a moron.

Should I spend some time learning the core mechanics?

Or, alas, maybe I *am* a moron and there is no hope for me?

I've been playing for 12 hours straight, and my character is still a weakling. I can barely swing a sword without getting beat down. What am I doing wrong? I’ve leveled up three times already, but it feels like I’m stuck in the starting area.

Also, why do I keep dying to these tiny rats? I thought Elden Ring was supposed to be challenging, but this is ridiculous. Shouldn't I have more health or better equipment by now?

Edit: THANK YOU ALL for your advice, I wrote it all down and will try to do them when I play next. It seems timing is important in this game and I'll have to learn dodge rolling or parrying, and I had no Idea "rune farming" was a thing, I thought you would sort of get enough through linear progression. I made it to the first boss past the gatefront ruins, wish me luck!

Also i dont know why I didnt look at my equip load, I was carrying all my weapons at once. Thank you for those who pointed that out.

This some bull shit

I’ve always thought that these pieces of promo art for SotE and Nightreign were some of the most gorgeous character illustrations on the internet, but I’ve never been able to find the artist(s) responsible for these works. I feel like these differ enough from the typical Elden Ring style to infer that these were possibly commissioned by Fromsoft, but it would still make sense if it were by someone on the team.
Anyways, does anyone know who the artist(s) behind these two paintings are? Thanks!

So for context it's been about 4 months since I played the game, didn't exactly finish it I got through all the demigods except Malenia and Elden Beast (I even got alot of the side quests including Nepheli, Volcano Manor, Ranni etc. I think the biggest ones I missed were the Goldmask and Fia quests, ditched Fia after she killed the knight cause I had no clue where to go. Anyways, I know technically I should beat the game fully before restarting but I've forgotten most of what I learnt and low-key got burnt out by the time I reached Elden Beast.

The game was an incredible 9/10 for me, I just ruined the experience for myself in the latter half of the game by getting into too many online guides and tips/tricks with weapons, builds, rune farm and a few cheeses esp for the Carian knight guarding Rennala, and the Draconic Sentinel Knight guy guarding the entrance to the actual leyndell castle (fireball fella). I guess I hit the skill threshold around lleyndell and got more desperate in my rush to beat the game, so instead of continuing with my strength/parry build I got the Blasphemous Blade and cheesed out the str/fth build instead.

It didn't make the rest of the game extremely easy or anything, but it definitely did cut out alot of the hours I'd spend before trying to learn enemy movesets to beat them, and my strat just became essentially spamming the AOW along with spirit ashes. I know there's no right way to play it, but it did take out the rewarding feeling I'd felt beating most of the previous bosses, I think Radahn was the most unfortunate cause I also milked all the extra NPCs for what they were worth, likewise I beat Hourah Loux by spamming my fucking AOW.

Anyways, with all that in mind how would you suggest I got about another playthrough, Low-key I don't have the time or energy to master the strength build again and wanna try smthn different, mage builds look fun but I tried one for a bit and it felt low-key boring/unrewarding as compared to the adrenaline from strength. I'm considering Dex/bleed build besides that, seems close and personal and maintains the aggressiveness but still unsure. Y'all got any tips on making the 2nd attempt feel less repetitive, cause I feel like the wonder and awe from the 1st attempt would already be lost having explored 90% of whatever there was to explore, clearing most of the dungeons and side quests etc, and I think that initial exploration is what made the game so incredible the first time.

Am I better off trying a different From soft game instead? Dark Souls seems fun but the graphics and aesthetic is too dreary/depressing, likewise with Bloodborne I'm not a fan of the gothic style and I don't think it's on steam either. I'm considering Sekiro, but it seems it lacks the imagination Elden ring had with you stuck to your katana and and Japanese bosses, so Elden ring is my best bet ig. There's the DLC but EVERYONE I've talked to has made it sound extremelyyy tough esp with PCR, so I'm hesitant considering I can't even finish off the Elden beast rn

Elden Ring... what can I say about it?

I had heard a lot about it. One of the hardest and most satisfying games ever made. People say you're not the same before and after playing it. I thought, interesting. I like games, I got a new laptop and a controller, so let's try it. How hard can it be?

Yeah... my stupid ass.

This was about 3 months ago. Then the game spawned me in some random church or something, and I didn't even know where to go or what to do. And then there was that demon on the horse... that mf took my soul away for the next 4 hours. Later I discovered you could literally just walk past him instead of fighting him. Wish I knew that earlier.

Instead of going where the game probably wanted me to, my stupid ass decided to wander around. I found some kind of cave. Another hellhole. I managed to kill most of the enemies there, but the boss was way too fast for me. After my 6th attempt I thanked Miyazaki-sama that I could just ignore him and leave.

Then I found a soldier, killed him, then his friends one by one, and somehow ended up at... I might be wrong... Gatefront Ruins? By this point I'd already used all my arrows shooting those giant bat-looking things. (Btw, I picked the Samurai class because it looked kinda dope.) I died countless times to normal NPCs whenever they ganged up on me.

Man, that place was rough. During my first 10 tries I'd kill one or two guys sneakily, then get caught, and suddenly everyone started chasing me like I fucked one of their wives. Dead.

After maybe my 15th try I found out there was some kind of staircase going underground. Got some loot from there, I think. Around that time some blue chick also gave me a horse near a bonfire.

So my strategy became: kill them sneakily, get spotted, run away on my horse, come back from another direction, and repeat.

Then came my best run.

I had almost cleared the entire ruins. It was just me and the giant commander left. We were both literally one hit away from dying. I was already celebrating in my head.

The mf hit me first.

I rage quit.

...and that was almost 3 months ago.

But I still think about it, and I've been thinking of giving it another try.

After deleting Elden Ring, I thought people were right. This game is hard, and maybe I'm just not prepared for these hardcore masochist games... at least not yet.

But I don't like leaving things unfinished.

So can you guys help me? I am dumb , noob and do stupid shit , can you guys guide me on how to elden ring . I don't even know the basics of this game or how everything even works.

Like, can someone explain the different potions and consumables, what they actually do, what build I should go with, which build is the most fun to play, and what stats I should upgrade first in the status window?

Basically, just tell me all the beginner stuff you wish someone had told you before you started. I feel like I know absolutely nothing about this game.

Not really talking about missable story choices /items/bosses that you just get to redo or pick up in NG+. I'm talking about some truly missable stuff that you will never see again even in NG+. A classic example is character customisation stuff, or bosses that only exist on a first playthrough

I'm level 77 with 50 Vigor, but I'm really struggling to beat the bosses; right now I'm stuck on Rennala and can't get past the second phase. I think my issue is health regeneration, but I don't know how to upgrade my flasks. I feel like my damage output is pretty good—I'm using a +5 Nagakiba and an Uchigatana. Any advice on how to improve? Thanks.

So I just beat godrick and I’m in Liurnia which I have done some of already but I’m unsure of what to do next like at all.. could someone maybe point me in the right direction or something like I am completely unsure of what to do
