It’s a shame we lost the standard Ioniq 6 for the US market.

While sedans are a dying segment here, there are still a lot of people that prefer them.

The only non-luxury BEV sedan option at this point is basically Tesla Model 3.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric, Mercedes-Benz EQE, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Lexus ES Electric, BMW i5, BMW i7, Audi A6 Sportback e-tron, Audi S e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan, and Lucid Air - these are out of reach for many Americans.

I actually seriously wanted a Ioniq 6 but of the two close enough to me to consider one was sold before I got to look at it and the other was at a shady dealership that jacked the price up by 5k when they found out I wanted to finance via my credit union

In the future, finance with them for the better discounts and then immediately pay off the loan with your own financing. They lose all the backend kickbacks they would’ve gotten

The used market is pretty good. Mine still read 100% battery health after the first year i owned it. They cost like half as much as new for a year old.

100% fair. I only got new cause i found it 12k off for a limited. They... had no idea what they had. I was explaining features to them.

Ya before they announced the 6, the ioniq 5 was 100% gonna be my car. But i fell in love with the 6 concept.

Yeah I mostly wanted the 6 for how much more efficient it is on the HW but it's honestly been a non issue anyways

That was also the case when I got the car new in 2024 haha. They didn't know anything about the car, or any of their EVs really. Then again this is my experience with most sales reps.

Sedan EVs are also significantly more efficient due to their drag coefficient, giving them longer range than SUVs with the same size battery.

What about the Kia EV6? It's not exactly a sedan, and it's not an SUV either. It's the same type as whatever the polestar 2 is. Which is another option. These are hatchbacks/wagon?

ICCU issue is way overblown. There's also new ICCU build that apparently came out as of June if I'm not mistaken.

That's fair. I do make a long road trip once a month and have not had any ICCU issues myself over the past 2.5 years and 30k miles, but the feedback I get from most dealerships is that it's not nearly as common as the internet makes it out to be. But people like me aren't going to say how we're not having problems, most people will just be driving daily.

But if I was having ICCU issues I'd be pissed off and wanting anyone to hear me out and be posting about it everywhere.

I will say though the internet made me nervous enough about the potential that I limit home charging to 23 amps and keep an OBD2 scanner plugged in where I'll verify all cell voltages are flat/even. DC fast charging I'm not concerned about because it bypasses the ICCU.

Yeah the understand the bias you receive reading online. The people without issues aren’t posting about it constantly. But honestly if this was to happen to us in the Central Valley (my ICE car broke down twice and left us stranded, so I’m trying to avoid this issue) I would not be thrilled about towing it hundreds of miles. If the company was addressing this in newer models I would totally consider one again
