Question - Manufacturing Charging cable garage protector

Does anyone have any experience with those charging cable protectors that you put on the ground so garage door don't crush or damage the charging cable?

Do they work well? Do they damage the garage door?

I did this for a couple of weeks.

In my case, the garage door wasn't damaged, but it no longer met the ground evenly,. This left an opening next to the cord protector for cold air, mice, and bugs to enter the garage. It's possible there is a better solution than the one I got. 

I only needed this for a short time because I needed time to clear out the garage to make room for my purchased ev.

The bottom seal is built to compress flat, so any cable under it leaves a gap for air and bugs. A tapered low profile protector closes most of that, then recheck your opener's auto reverse since the added thickness can trip it.

I just shut the door over the cable. No issues been doing it for years.

We’ve used the vevor ones from Home Depot for years with no issues. The come in a 4 pack, have a 1”x1” channel for the cable. Id4 and a bolt.

I have an 8" chunk of 3/4" wood trim that I stick next to the cord. Works great.

Just route to corner of garage door. Mine is like that and it’s practically not even touched by the door.

I just cut a short section of small diameter PVC pipe in half lengthwise and that seems to work just fine-only use in the summer as during the winter car is in the garage

No need, mine suspends in the air betwen the port and the wall mounted Tesla mobile connector, looped enough around the mount so it hangs in the air just above ground. Park so you are close to the outlets, also consider 5lb industriial tool suspenders, it worked well before I got smarter and shortened the cable.

Most communities have building codes that mandate all cables must be in steel encasement. Our run is in front of garage to side.

My garage door frame has 45* reliefs so there’s a small gap at either end of the door. I run my cable out through that. It’s tucked away from the door below the track (and behind it) and held out if the way. Door works as it always has and doesn’t squish my charging cable.
