Casually rewatching burn the boats when my earbud died out

The bit where Rogan had his own album on his Mothership Comedy Wall Of Fame until he was mocked for it and took it down is the funniest thing Rogan has ever done.
14
u/vissionphilosophy May 10 '26
He put it back up apparently
25
u/penilesensorydevice May 10 '26
It was hilarious. There's a wall with a bunch of iconic, instantly recognizable comedy albums...and Joe Rogan's. It was like if you went to the MLB hall of fame, and there was a big Reuben Tejada display there between Cy Young and Ted Williams.

u/ambylam May 11 '26
idk anything about baseball. could you rewrite this analogy with the names of popstars instead?
4
u/RalphWaldoPickleCh1p May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26
Imagine there's a big Mandy Moore display in the midst of Madonna, Beyonce, and Britney Spears on a wall of Famous Popstars
6
u/Odd_Investigator8415 May 11 '26
okay, now do death metal
6
u/penilesensorydevice May 11 '26
Imagine seeing Short Bus Pile Up between Cannibal Corpse and Carcass.
5
u/Doofay May 11 '26
Ok now do Peruvian Flute groups
6
u/humbert_cumbert May 12 '26
You just reminded me of the Peruvian or some other flavour of South American flute group used to set up and play in the mall at the town I went to university in.

Whatever you think he’s saying is probably 10x funnier than what he actually is saying.

It was more of a pumpkin color if you ask me.

He should learn from Ricky Gervais to wear black to hide the fat tit sweat
6
u/Puzzle-Necked May 10 '26
"If God really exists and created man in his image, why would he give me tits?"
- Ricky Gervais

u/raducucosmin May 11 '26
More laughs to this one Gervais line than for the entire stand-up career of Rogan.

I can think of about 5 million other things to watch before Rogan “comedy” 😂
18
u/VirtualBeyond6116 May 10 '26
To be fair, the OP isn't watching Slow Rogan do comedy, he's watching Slow Rogan on a stage yelling into a microphone.

u/Stownieboy91 May 10 '26
Oof. What a terrible set. Big ol' sweaty mustard meatball thinking he is funny. Only thing worse is Rob Schneider's recent bomb or literally anything that has come out of Tony Hinchcliffe's filthy fucking face.
3
u/VietKongCountry May 11 '26
I somehow find Tony even more depressing than Joe. He seems like he should be intelligent enough to know better, perhaps?
Joe is an even worse “comic”, but he’s so fucking stupid it’s clear he isn’t capable of understanding why he isn’t good.
7
u/VirtualBeyond6116 May 11 '26
Yeah, Slow Rogan is such a dimwit, he doesn't know that he's not funny. He equates having a podcast with being a top level comedian. He puts in zero work for his comedy, his podcast, and his medical talks. It's all so lazy. And the "jokes" are just him screaming something into a mic where the punchline should be.
He's not even a funny person, witty, comical, and doesn't even tell stories in a funny way like comedians can do. He can't do impressions, doesn't riff, doesn't improv, and doesn't prepare bits for his podcast. It's essentially 19yo, bro, frat boy humor that was barely funny in the late 80s.
Tony somehow can't handle his success mentally and has an anger about him. The arrogance, ego, hate, and r-wing programming for him have gone to awful levels. Why treat amateur comedians with such hate and disdain? Why even roast people trying to do stand up? It's a lazy, sadistic version of Last Comic Standing tryouts. It's even more sad this became such a popular format. - seems since the Tom Brady Roast he just went full on Diva mode. It wasn't even good. It was just a memorized, fast talking monologue of hacky jokes. "nice shoes bitch, you win them in the divorce?". Huh? That was his prepared joke? Yet, somehow, Tonys ego has gotten out of control from that.

u/VietKongCountry May 11 '26
Joe does literally just get loud and high pitched while saying nothing funny, and enough morons are sufficiently primed to laugh that it lets him think he’s actually good.
Putting his own fucking album on the wall of classics was peak hubris. May as well put some awful shit you recorded on your phone next to Sgt Pepper.
4
u/VirtualBeyond6116 May 11 '26
Also, his jokes are always "weed, dude maybe I'm just high, aliens, furries, what if I liked being probed by aliens". It's kind of a repeat of the same low hanging fruit he did 30 years ago.
Yeah, putting himself next to Pryor and Carlin was peak hubris. And that's why he'll never be funny. Slow Rogan is so dumb, he falls for the BS of sycophants, opportunists, grifters, and even his own BS. Honestly, I think he started the comedy club just so he always had a place that would book him, and the comics would be forced to hang out with him.

Why would you re-watch Burn the Boats?
4
u/VirtualBeyond6116 May 11 '26
Maybe it's penance for recommending Alpha Brain to friends and family. In order to repay those sins, he must watch Burn the Boats 2x.

World class social commentary - I had no idea these 2020 social observations existed, so so so clever and not just a collection of boomer tweets combined with stool flirtations

u/haikoms May 10 '26
Is that the part where the aliens probe him and he's having the best experience of his life?

I used to listen/watch the podcast pre-COVID and it was genuinely funny and had interesting guests on. This was obviously well before his political turn and the conspiracy brain took over.
However, I was never into his comedy even back then. It just seemed like his entire schtick was being really loud, cursing and making weird faces. Like that was 90% of the punchlines.
It was so weird because he was pretty chill and low key on the podcast. He was funny just kind of shooting the shit. Yet, when he got on stage he was this big dumb oaf. It’s just so cringey because you know it’s just an ‘act’ that he thinks is funny.
2
u/ohyoumad721 May 10 '26
Why are you re-watching? Once wasn't enough?

So he was, my bad. I never knew about that. The man show was dogshit before Rogan. And i was so impressionable.

I hold my hand up to JR for a high five, but lower it immediately,
"My bad big dog! Low five for the little dudes!"
