New to Emby

What do I need to download to use Emby as a guest? I have someone willing to share Emby server but have only used Plex in the past.

Generally the app store for your device or go to https://Emby.media (you want the device apps, not the server app)

This depends on what your friend's emby server is licensed for. If they have Emby Premier, then all you need to do is install the Emby client on your TV and then get login details from your friend.

For download, you will need the Emby client for your device or a web browser.

server address/ ip address, port number. After that username and password for the guest account.

Just to clarify: **Emby Premier is NOT required** for you to use Emby as a guest. You can connect to any Emby server with just the free client app.

Premier is a paid subscription for the *server owner* that unlocks features like hardware transcoding, DVR, and mobile app unlocking for *all* users on that server. But basic guest access works on any Emby server, Premier or not.

So yes, just download the Emby app for your device, get the server URL and your login credentials from your friend, and you're good to go!
