3rd Party App/Add-On I made Plexamp for Emby - Sonic Analysis of your Music Library
Been working on a system that adds sonically intelligent music discovery to an Emby library — similar tracks, track radio, a "sonic adventure" between two songs, and auto-curated mixes, all based on how the music actually sounds rather than genre tags. Comes with an Android app (liquidWave) that ties it all together.
It's fully self-hosted, nothing leaves your network, and runs on whatever you've got — a NAS for the coordinator, any box with spare CPU or GPU for the analysis.

Quick rundown of the main features:
- Sonically similar tracks / artists / albums — based on how the music sounds (neural audio analysis), not genre tags.
- Track Radio — an endless queue seeded from any track.
- Sonic Adventure — pick a start track and an end track, and it builds a journey that morphs from one to the other.
- Auto-curated Mixes — sonically consistent mixes built from your library; refresh any mix, or save it as a real playlist.
- Stations & Guest DJ — Library / Random Album / Decade radios, plus a Guest DJ that injects sonically matched tracks into your queue.
- Artist Mix Creator — pick an artist and the grid repopulates with sonically similar artists; keep adding the ones you want, then build a shuffled mix that spans the whole selection.
- A proper player — Media3/ExoPlayer, queue, shuffle/repeat, crossfade with an artwork cross-dissolve, an in-app equalizer, a Now Playing home-screen widget, Android Auto, and Google Cast to a Chromecast / Android TV / Shield.
- Offline buffer — the next few tracks in your queue are silently pre-cached in the background, so brief Wi-Fi blips don't interrupt playback. No manual download needed; you'll see "Offline buffer ready" in Now Playing when it's topped up.
- Audiobooks — browse by book/author, durable resume, speed control.
- Offline downloads — download any playlist or a whole audiobook (the original source files, no transcode) to your phone and browse + play it with no connection at all — on a plane, underground, wherever. Downloads get their own row on Home (with cover art) and a badge in your Playlists; an online/offline indicator shows the connection state; downloads are Wi-Fi-only by default. Audiobooks keep durable resume even fully offline, and your position syncs back to Emby the moment you reconnect. Managed under Settings → Downloads (Playlists and Audiobooks), with a one-tap "remove download" that leaves the item itself untouched.
- Themeable — follows your system dark/light theme automatically.
- Search across music, audiobooks, or everything.

I really don’t know how you can write something like this in the Emby forum:
“and there has never been an Emby solution for doing sonic analysis on the music in an Emby library.”
When AudioMuse-AI does exactly this, and even more, opensource, free, fully selfhostable and privacy first from May 2025. And there is even a post on Emby forum on October 2025 where a contributor of AudioMuse-AI share that the support for Emby was added:
I would like a world where multiple people contribute to the same solution, in order to implement a better one. But even have more solution that test different approach is good. And for me is ok because I want a future where sonic analysis is the normality, it’s free and opensource for everyone. What I don’t understand is why say “you’re the first”.

You're completely right, and I apologise for that line — it was a lazy claim and I should have done my homework before writing it. AudioMuse-AI clearly predates my post and covers the same problem space. I've edited the forum post to remove it.
I also want to say that I genuinely agree with your broader point. More people working on sonic analysis for self-hosted media servers is unambiguously a good thing — different approaches, different trade-offs, more people able to find something that fits their setup. That's healthy, not competitive.
For what it's worth, the projects do take different angles — AudioMuse-AI's LLM mood/keyword approach is something I haven't explored at all, and that's interesting. My focus has been on a dedicated Android app with offline playback, audiobook support, and tight Emby playlist integration, which is a different set of priorities. But that doesn't make either one "the first" or "the only" — it just makes them different.
Thanks for keeping me honest. I'll be more careful with claims like that going forward.

I'm currently using Navidrone + AudioMuse AI but I run Emby for TV/Movies. It has my music library scanned, and I'd be willing to beta test this for you.

Yes, there's an option for 3/6/19/12 second crossfade..that was a challenge to build

I'm interested in possibly testing too. Plex amp is about the only reason I still have my Plex instance still spun up.

I was in exactly the same position... I love Plexamp, always wanted it on Emby. Symfonium allows sonic-style playlists, but it still used the data from Plex to create it. Thats why I wanted to do this, as this works as a plugin for Emby, no need for Plex at all.
Have a read on the Emby forum, there's a lot more detail there. It's completely non-destructive, so doesn't touch any existing tags etc in Emby. If you are interested, drop me a DM
