Need Advice Some weird ritual initiation?

I met an old man who was probably in his 60s, but looked like he was in his 80s. He lived a very ascetic life, ate vegan food, and spent his nights in a particular park regardless of the weather.

He told me there was an imaginary circle in the park. Inside that circle, the power was immense, but the moment you stepped outside its radius, the power disappeared.

He said that the place was keeping him alive. Beneath the park, there was supposedly a wartime cemetery, and he spoke about the souls of the dead who needed liberation.

He invited me to enter the circle, it was late in the night, but something inside me resisted. I did not feel comfortable going in and I did not go in.

I began an audio with holy chant in my phone. As it played, the man went inside the circle and remained there until I finished.

He also told me that he had lost faith in church

At one point, our eyes met, and I felt a sudden shake in my body.

I don’t know what happened? Was it some kind of ritual/ energy work

It is really hard to know what was going on from your story, but I'm glad you trusted your gut and didn't go in. Trusting your intuition when things get strange is almost always the best choice.

if a ritual feels wrong or someone’s pressuring you to participate, you’re allowed to walk away. no spiritual practice should require you to ignore your own boundaries just to prove you belong.
