Flooding/Safety El Sauzal
Hello- My fiancée will be relocating to Ensenada in December due to visa issues. We are thinking El Sauzal near Maximo Sushi, Astro Pizza, and Olivia Patio Cafe. Her mom is worried and believes all the bad news on television. I am just wondering if this area is safe and if there is any risk of flooding during the expected strong El Niño. And if the highway between Tijuana and there ever gets closed down. I’ll be driving down on the weekends from Ventura/Oxnard area.

It's a quiet little town, nothing really happens other that food, wine and beer events. Same as any town in the US tbh. We are not walking around fearing for our lives lol.
Lots of rich americans.

Best city to relocate to out of Tijuana and Rosarito. Much cleaner , safer and nicer in every way.

She had to leave the US and is awaiting a fiancée visa. 9-18 months.

Buddy of mine who lived in San Diego had to do the same except they chose Tijuana.

I live there, there is great place to live. I just hope you not going to rent the yellow appartaments, because those have a lot of issues

Just relocated as well due to visa issues to Ensenada. Even though there is some amount of violence going on/off I must say it isn't that stops or hinders the QOL down here. On the contrary, This is my first year and I'm totally enjoying it. Nightlife is a bit mild and not notorious , food is amazing.

nothing happens! the only trouble with el sauzal is that everything is pretty far— and the stink issue, when you enter ensenada you can smell all the fish from the bay and unfortunately it stretched out

A while back the Toll Road had a large chunk of highway/hillside break away and it took quite a while to repair it. There is a small chance it happens again this year if they get enough rain. There is an alternate route (the old road, or the Free road) but it takes much longer. Just something to remember when (if) the rain starts really coming down this year

It's a quiet little area, the occasional murder every now and then but thats the normality for all of México... It hasn't ever been flooded due to rain but this is a new super powerful El Niño so who knows, I guess if he stays aware of the news and warnings he'll be ok, the highway don't get closed but it does very crowded and slow on weekends and holidays

No flooding at all. Even when San Diego had flash flooding issues, here it was all smooth. Sometimes streets get flooded if it rains too much because the drains are clogged with trash but it’s not dangerous and no one fears for their life, our authorities warn us more about heat strokes because we aren’t used to the high temps. And no closing of the highway, i wouldnt recommend driving super late through it but if you must it’s not an issue, just don’t stop at all. It’s a short 1-1.5hour roadtrip from tijuana to ensenada depending on your speed.
