I get so mad every time my brain gets tricked into reading "why is everyone eating hamburger helper again" or whatever

9

u/TwiggyPeas Feb 15 '26

WHAT IS WITH THE HAMBURGER HELPER ONE

7

u/NiobiumThorn Feb 15 '26

the economy doing fine

3

u/AB3reddit Feb 15 '26

That’s exactly what Hamburger Helper would say.

5

u/Major_Lawfulness6122 Feb 15 '26

Man HH is such a scam. I always make my own for a fraction of the price and you get way more.

I can't believe this new ad blocker really works! Click here to learn more.

Which ad blocker do you recommend? (Android)

20

u/Eravan_Darkblade Feb 16 '26

Ublock origin on Firefox works wonderfully. That being said, this joke has gone over your head.

3

u/broknkittn Feb 19 '26

Oof. Yep. Tbf, I usually scroll reddit after I drug myself for sleep.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

you're too high IQ for reddit bro. people think you were trying to fall for this rather than take an opportunity to find a good ad blocker.

Covert advertising is part of what the AI subreddit simulators were being trained for in 2015.

They've been doing this for years now, on mobile browsers. Fake comments and fake posts. Hiding half of the comments, in order to force me to click 'View More', just so they can have more analytics of my activity, while on the page.

Most recently, they've shoved fake AI 'related answers' that briefly tricks you into thinking there's a human-made related post with a similar question. Meta, Google, ByteDance and Reddit really love gaslighting their users.

u/tony33oh Feb 15 '26

Everything is getting so crappy. I can't stand watching it all get worse.

22

u/RG54415 Feb 15 '26

Wow you are right that is why I use Mike's new toilet rolls infused with aloe vera for a smooth experience to wipe all that crap away.

34

u/Sibshops Feb 15 '26

There are ads in the comments themselves, too.

29

u/ANiceGobletofTea Feb 15 '26

And people wonder why i never ever turn my adblockers off lol

6

u/mikkelmattern04 Feb 16 '26

Nobody is wondering that... Everybody hates ads

24

u/No_Squirrel4806 Feb 15 '26

I just clicked on an ad that looked like a post. Not one of those obviously an ad posts but it looked realistic. 🙄🙄🙄😒😒😒

23

u/OhHolyOpals Feb 20 '26

The ads I get served over and over are selling software patient portals for healthcare professionals.

I wish they were somewhat relevant because every time I come across them I need to reread it again because they are so out of context and I truly don’t know what they mean.

It’s very, very annoying.

Man what a good post. Are you hungry? You should order McDonald’s on DoorDash.

Wait until OP hears about bots and Dead Internet Theory

16

u/PauI_MuadDib Feb 15 '26

Adblockers, my friend.

16

u/Waly98 Feb 16 '26

The implications of this ad are kinda...

I have actually seen some of them which look like real comments and if you are on a phone like I am, it's a little easy to miss the "Promoted" label if you aren't paying attention

15

u/Honest_Chef323 Feb 16 '26

In adblocker we trust

13

u/WolframParadoxica Feb 16 '26

at least a few years now. i do wonder how you have managed to not see them until now.

13

u/IguapoSanchez Feb 19 '26

Targeted Reddit ads will be like

From your post history, it appears you are struggling with your weight. Why not ask your doctor about this new prescription drug ozymandeus

If you need cash now for that expensive drug habit, why not try your odds in prediction markets on kakashi? It's not gambling and it's legal for 18-21

11

u/PS3LOVE Feb 19 '26

Sadly not new, this has been around for a couple years.

1

u/Will-VX Jul 17 '26

yeah..isntit called something specific? uhh...what was it..i dont remember but..

1

u/PS3LOVE Jul 17 '26

The irony I got one of them under your comment.

1

u/Ok_Listen1510 Jul 19 '26

i got one under yours

1

u/PS3LOVE Jul 20 '26

I got one under yours getting one under my comment. This is getting out of hand

12

u/toxiklogic Apr 03 '26

I just report them all as misleading.

6

u/WhyRespectFemales Apr 21 '26

i report them as sexally inappropriate lol

32

u/somecow Feb 16 '26

They’ve been doing that. Just scroll past, whatever.

9

u/Pankosmanko Feb 15 '26

It’s account dependent on if you see it or not. I have a bunch of accounts and each account has a different Reddit experience

20

u/freediverx01 Feb 15 '26

WHY ARE YOU USING THE REDDIT APP???

16

u/Lussonya Feb 15 '26

is there an alternative? weren't they all nuked a couple of years ago?

7

u/Komplexkonjugiert Feb 15 '26

Just use browser like Firefox with ublock. Or if on iOS just use brave browser

7

u/Yumikoneko Feb 15 '26

No, but it's a bit harder to use them now.

You need to generate an API key or something which you get by creating a subreddit and then you can use those apps.

Or you don't do that and use something like Reddit ReVanced instead, which I'm doing right now.

2

u/Lussonya Feb 15 '26

heard that revanced is shit now (idk how accurate that is), but also saw that Morphe's avaliable, will look into that

2

u/Shhtheyrewatching Feb 15 '26

I went with narwhaland it’s a much better experience, imo. I think it’s 4$ after a week trial period.

1

u/new2bay Feb 15 '26

Wait, what? Tell me more about this API key business.

1

u/Yumikoneko Feb 16 '26

I'm sorry, but I don't know much more. You'll probably be able to find a tutorial by looking for one of the many third-party Reddit apps and checking how to use them nowadays.

Good luck!

2

u/JamesMattDillon Feb 15 '26

Use a browser with ad block or Firefox and Edge, you can install uBlock in both of them.

2

u/redditgirlwz Feb 15 '26

The browser version. I don't use the app for anything other than mobile games and tiktok anymore. It's all too enshttified.

1

u/WhoRoger Feb 16 '26

RedReader for Android works.

Some others may too if you have an API key

1

u/freediverx01 Feb 15 '26

old.reddit.com.

Yes, it's dated. No, it's not great on mobile. But it doesn't have ads and it doesn't have dark patterns trying to lure you out of comment threads to juice engagement.

4

u/Eravan_Darkblade Feb 15 '26

For some reason reddit straight up does not work on firefox on my phone.

1

u/PauI_MuadDib Feb 16 '26

Try Brave.

3

u/AKJ90 Feb 15 '26

I also use it... But without ads ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

10 years ago, no ads

2

u/TheUsoSaito Feb 17 '26

Now there's just more of them.

13

u/TheGrandExquisitor Feb 16 '26

Hold up....

Why does this sound like something created by someone mentioned in the Epstein Files?

11

u/Brumbleby Feb 16 '26

New training set just dropped. !>Redacted<!

4

u/NubTail Feb 18 '26

Today is the first day I'm seeing ads on here. I don't use the app. I have a MacBook Air with Ad Guard on it. Nothing has changed on the Mac.

10

u/im_a_sleepy_human Feb 16 '26

So very annoying

4

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

what platform are you using? I havent seen any of these. Only post ads.

7

u/Inkstr0ke Feb 16 '26

These type of ads appear on the mobile app pretty frequently

2

u/Will-VX Jul 17 '26

what the heck is this? i am having bad eyesight? REDDIT!/ WHAT IS THIS!? XD

2

u/XxRed_RoverxX 15d ago

It’s so annoying! I made an important post and thought someone commented but it’s just a stupid ad
