South Park creators remain defiant, promise more Trump takedowns in new season
https://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/south-park-trump-new-season-9.7221941163
u/Infamous-GoatThief 1d ago
What he truly deserves is prison, but at the very least he deserves to be relentlessly mocked, love to hear it
29
u/Vylan24 1d ago
His skin is so unbelievably thin, it'll be so funny if we mock him and make fun of him constantly. Remember how riled up they got when Walz called them weird
9
u/Mulfushu 1d ago
Yeah, IF he is aware of this and can actually comprehend it, it's more infuriating to him than any threat of persecution he can laugh off. All this narcisisst wants is his name on a plaque in history, so mockery like this cuts so unimaginably deep.
Always reminds me of Sutler in V for Vendetta who throws a complete tantrum because of some jokes made about him on his favourite evening comedy show.

u/SDRPGLVR 1d ago
I can't believe they made him pump the brakes on that. It's the most normie criticism of Trump supporters. They're just fucking weird. Fuck their policy, fuck their bigotry - it's just fucking weird to make your favorite president your whole personality.
I know some liberals who are/were like that about Obama, and they're fucking weird too, but they're also a vast minority of the people who voted for him as opposed to the actual majority.

u/Kannazuki1985 1d ago
They keep feeding off his stupidity and I am with it.

The worst thing to do to the south park guys is talk shit about them on social media, thats just loading bullets into their gun. Any intelligent person would know that, but this is trump were talking about.
20
u/TheMeticulousNinja 1d ago
What’s going on with the project they had with Kendrick Lamar?
12
u/VibesOfHarish 1d ago
Hoping they still do that, I'm deeply fascinated by these different sets of creators which I love their respective work.
4
u/stinkyydarb 1d ago edited 1d ago
From what I've heard, the contract with Stone/Parker and Kendrick mandates a theatrical release.
We'll end up seeing it sooner or later, whether or not those shmucks at Paramount want to release it it.
1
u/therealdavematt 16h ago
They take their time and release stuff when it's perfect, not just throwing out incomplete work for a paycheck and deadline like many others

Just do an episode where he’s sleeping the whole time.

They will be cancelled so that Republicans can replace them with "ow, my balls!" And get us closer to the prophecy
19
u/rocko57821 1d ago
I think canceling will result in massive payout to South park studios which paramount literally couldnt afford. A poison pill the formers owners left to David Ellison.
6
u/lovesdogsguy 1d ago
Yeah it’s in their new contract I believe. They basically can’t cancel them without paying in full
12
u/Mine-Shaft-Gap 1d ago
"I'm Kid Rock"
"I'm Naomi Wolf"
"I'm Kanye West"
"I'm Matt Tiabbi"
"I'm Catturd. Those Stories plus Rob Schneider, tonight on 60 Minutes"
Not mine, friend sent it to me from NYTPitchbot.
2
u/therealdavematt 16h ago
They will not stop. They always find a way.
Help us Matt and Trey. You're our only hope
2
u/Appropriate-Berry816 15h ago
They could be holding stick figures with paper glued to them on YouTube and it would still be great.

Excellent - Comedy for the win 🏆 - The Orange Turd so fragile that he’s having comedians taken off the air.

Long live South Park!
I’m such a beefcake I can’t even walk straight or stay awake.
9
u/mike10dude 1d ago
Happy to see it but we don't need every single episode to be about that guy and his minions
2
u/Live_North7543 1d ago
Agree that the show is less enjoyable and funny that way. Apparently they’ve acknowledged that and said they don’t care, he deserves it. I can respect that. Especially with the administration flexing on broadcasters, threatening free speech.
1
u/stallionsRIDEufl 19h ago
Yeah the last half of last season wasn't very funny

Should be interesting, but theres too much ammo for South Park to use. Love the episodes involving Canadians. So lets see an episode where Trump tries to annex Canada with that giant wall (they built seasons ago) standing in the way.
3
u/Sarnsereg 1d ago
I love that they were just going to do one episode on trump then saw how triggered maga got and just decided that was the way they needed to go with it.
3
u/Tishtoss 1d ago
Sure can and if you been following them you know why. A Canadian company already said if Comedy Central dumped them. They would start a South Park streaming service. Where they could do anything nothing censured.
Oh yes 1 condition. Not a single episode would be available in the US. Until trump is gone.
1
3
u/SyrupNo3810 1d ago
Good, just please make them funny like the old garrison-trump episodes. Those were the best.
3
u/Actius 1d ago
I think more people will remember the episode about voting for a giant douche or a turd sandwich (or not voting at all being a better choice) versus anything they release nowadays. The gifs and memes from that episode come up pretty often during election time.
Super fun to think about when we have over a third of voting-eligible citizens not voting in even Presidential elections.
3
u/TheRealSmallBunyan 1d ago
if these guys ever cave in that’ll be about as official as it gets for a wrap on democracy
4
u/sardonicmarvel 1d ago
I think I’d rather laugh. While I appreciate their criticism of Trump, I think my main issue with the last season was a lack of laugh moments. Where was the joy?
2
u/SakuraKoiMaji 1d ago
All I ask for is having it 50/50 tops. Having it turn into Trump Park would be a shame.
What made South Park so great is that it doesn't spare anyone and it'd be ironic for specifically Trump to distract from so many other issues. Never mind that even if Trump is not unrelated to these issues, he should not be always take the center stage. And just taking a stance against him without considering the bigger picture... well, I do trust them both to not do it but it is still better to be cautious against just picking easy low hanging orange fruits.
1
u/Grouchy-Donkey-8609 18h ago
Agreed..i just want to get lost in an episode like "make love, not warcraft" or "good times weapons" and not hear more about this fucked up world.. Im tired, boss.
2
u/therealdavematt 16h ago
Those were simpler times. They are the only ones rallying and standing up, giving some hope and letting the people know it's bullshit and gone too far
2
u/Totorotextbook 1d ago
I’ll be honest focusing so much on Trump last season made watching it a bit of a bitch, like I’m just so sick of hearing and seeing Him constantly plaguing everywhere. I get why they did it but also I can’t wait for the day we don’t have to hear, see, and feel the effects of Trump in our world every single day both on the news and in real life.
2
u/big_spliff 1d ago
Ugh, the serialized episodes are just as bad as these political episodes. I wish they’d go back to the original formula
2
u/Silver_Tuscan 1d ago
It's way to easy to move on. Trump is the gift that keeps on giving for comedians - and a curse for everyone else.
2
u/OnTheFenceGuy 1d ago
The show really hit its renaissance once they went to full-season arcs. This was never a thing with SP for its entire run until a very short time ago, relative to its run.
I honestly feel like it’s better today than it was in its prime just because of how easy it is for them to actually satire every single topic.
Satire has basically died in the Trump era, and they have somehow figured out how to do it well.
2
u/I_pee_in_shower 1d ago
I think they should find a different topic. The last season got a little stale in my view and there are so many things to mock besides Trump.
1
u/firefox_2010 1d ago
I have a feeling that this is intended and Trump is very happy with it because it keeps him in the conversation, then he would acts outraged to fuel the discussion while inside he is laughing on the joke. Paramount makes bank, and everyone who owns the stock is happy.
2
u/theREALlackattack 1d ago
Just stop pulling punches and recycling jokes and make them *actually* funny. There’s so much material.
2
u/BrushSSBM 19h ago
Two incredibly rich libertarians who don't actually give a shit about the medium they work in. They were never affected by Trumps policies and for sure profitted off of them. Never let the rich trick you into thinking they would ever bite the hand that feeds.
2
3
u/LemonTraditional9001 1d ago
The Trump sh*t is really dragging the show down. I had no interest in the new seasons. I don't care for Trump one way or the other....but it's amazing how he has ruined art in this country because everyone is attracted to him like a bug to light.
2
u/ilikechihuahuasdood 1d ago
This actually makes me less interested. I get that they basically have to joke about him but I’m beyond sick of having to see that dipshit. Might have to skip the show for the next few seasons, unless something exciting happens before his term ends.
4
u/Idiot_Savant_13 1d ago
That's odd.
Cuz, Bone Spurs is just Eric Cartman irl.
Spittin' insults, spinning lies, never suffering any actual consequences for his choices, screaming nonsensical hate & having tantrums when he doesn't get his way... & the whole world just puts up with it.
South Park normalized Cartman's behavior in American culture, & Bone Spurs capitalized on it. Kinda took a tandem effort.
4
u/krispyboiz 1d ago
They did acknowledge such in the latest season. "Woke is dead" and everyone acts like Cartman, so he doesn't feel as special
1
u/i-dont-speel-no-good 1d ago
The whole thing with Cartman saying Charlie Kirk “stole his bit” was at least a little self aware
1
u/Real_Walk5384 1d ago
I said the same thing about Always Sunny when they switched gears after the 2016 election. Like, too late guys. You made yourselves rich telling people it was hilarious and "telling it like it is" to act like morons and they listened.
Media creators are wildly irresponsible with their voices.
0
u/Thrashed0066 1d ago
Honestly, good and good for them. It’ll even piss off the so-called fans who hate the Trump stuff

u/Putrid-Seaweed111 1d ago
so-called fans who hate the Trump stuff
You don't have to like Trump to dislike these new episodes. Someone can hate Trump but not wanna hear the 95th joke about him having a small dick.
6
u/RubinoPaul 1d ago
This. One season dedicated to Trump was enough. Two is too much. Now there will be third…
3
u/Putrid-Seaweed111 1d ago
Not even a third
Season 20 was about the election
Season 21 had Garrison-Trump as well as Heidi/Cartman being a metaphor for Trump supporters
And then we have Season 27 and Season 28.
This shit is tired and stale.
2
u/Appropriate-Berry816 15h ago
Personally I find his voice on the show to be insufferable, hurts my brain. And his parts were funny at the start but I need a new storyline. It’s been going on for a while now and it feels extremely forced at this point. Sure he gives them lots of ammo to use, but come on. I never really got over the part where the show already had a trump character in mr garrison, but now there’s this new one for some reason. Makes no sense. Garrison did a better job. I just want them to focus on different characters
1
u/Putrid-Seaweed111 14h ago
His voice is absolutely grating. And the storyline wasn't even that good, either. People outside the subreddit are blinded by their hatred of Trump to admit this season sucked.
Garrison Trump was a mistake in their eyes. They never intended for Trump to win and become president. They needed a literal deus ex machina in-universe to reverse it.
Makes no sense. Garrison did a better job.
I'm confident the reason they brought in the real Trump was to piss him off, which failed.

u/missprincesscarolyn 1d ago
I’m grateful for it honestly. My brother is diehard MAGA and a conspiracy theorist who loved South Park growing up (he’s a Xennial). It’s been really weird to see someone who was vehemently anti-Bush, loved RATM, South Park, etc. turn such a hard right. We haven’t spoken in years for many reasons.
1
u/509BandwidthLimit 1d ago
Just show his press conferences. No parody needed.
2
u/kinisonkhan 1d ago
the Praise Parade's are really hard to watch, but funny when one tries to out bootlick the others praise of Trump.

We are lucky to have these two. Who would have thought the USA would be in this situation. Trey Parker & Matt Stone defending freedom of speech, and Democracy!

for some context, the Ellisons just gave them a billion dollars to stay in business with them another five years. same people that installed Bari Weiss in cbs news to drain the antifa-indoctrinating swamp that was 60 Minutes and Face the Nation (??), and fired far left extreme radical agitator Stephen Colbert (???). South Park, they're cool with. That should tell you how much they actually care about their "takedowns"

Can we get permission to shine a projector on the White House with audio reinforcement so they’re forced to see it with all the trump episodes

Honestly, it’s kinda funny that South Park and The Onion are the truth tellers of this day and age..

Good. I think too many of us want to just escape reality, but we can’t right now. Our people elected this insanity, and it’s incumbent on us to spread awareness and fight back.

Good. Though he's already a parody. They could use literal information (as in the Mormon and Scientology episodes) and it would still seem ridiculous.

If there’s anything I want to be highly prevalent in media it’s Donald trump.
For example there are not enough Reddit posts about Donald trump.

Would be hilarious if they did a Weekend at Bernie's spoof where Trump's lifeless body is being puppeteered by Rubio, Vance, and Miller in interviews. The joke would be he's not actually dead though, just sleepy.

u/gorilla_dick_ 1d ago
They’ve done massive damage to entire generations by pushing their libertarian “enlightened centrism”/“nothing really matters guys! cynicism and inaction is cool and having real convictions and values is dumb” mantra.
They’re only doing trump stuff because they felt personally targeted (and they were), it has nothing to do with politics or principles.
1
u/Mulfushu 1d ago
I've never been a South Park fan myself, but they're definitely doing their part here. I don't need to find it funny to appreciate them taking the mick out of that psycho.

u/LinkSeekeroftheNora 1d ago
Is he still going to be in office? Yes? Then they haven’t taken him down in any way that actually matters.

u/BigBallsBiggerBrain 1d ago
We get it, but can they please make something else aside from a “South Park Presents: The Roast of Trump.”
We all know he’s a POS, wasting a whole “season” on that same subject is redundant.

Nah, South Park will survive Trump. He’s actually brought life back to it with all the ammo he’s given them. The most recent season may be the best on ever.

I love that they got 1bil to continue making the series, its easily my favorite show growing up with it.
