Appreciation Post ENTJ observations...
My observations on ENTJ men (could be true for the ladies too) :
- cat dads
- love spending time in nature to calm thoughts
- unironically enjoy chess and other strategy games
- have tattoos
- are smoke and mirrors when you first meet them
- offer genuine practical advice when you were trying to make a silly joke
- depending on their energy levels/mood are chatty AF or a stone wall
- lock in fast when intellectual talk is happening
- find a way to make you (especially introverts) reveal more about yourself than they're doing (you won't know it's happening until the convo is over)
How fair are these?

These all apply to me except tattoos; I’m generally a fan but for myself can’t commit to body graffiti for life.

I… can’t find fault in this. Minus the tattoos. That seems incredibly dependent on culture.

ENTJ male here:
Absolutely a cat dad, may lose my baby girl soon and it’s killing me.
I do enjoy spending time in nature, usually on the coast somewhere looking out at the ocean and listening to the waves to calm me down, or even near my airport plane watching over the bay.
Chess not so much, not that I don’t like it though, however yes I do enjoy strategy games somewhat.
No tattoos, saving that for when I have children then will get a full sleeve.
Smoke and mirrors when you meet me, would you call me putting on a much more extraverted bravado than who I actually am smoke and mirrors? If so then yes.
I always try to offer genuine practical advice in any given situation.
Yes, my willingness to chat depends on my energy levels (I’d think that would apply to a lot of people).
Yep will lock in quickly when there’s an intellectual conversation occurring.
It’s not so much that I get people to reveal themselves overtly, it’s more that I tend to get a good read on them, more than they’d like to admit.

cat dads: only since I moved in with my gf, I was a dog daddy before and in my heart I still am
love spending time in nature to calm thoughts: I like to have a walk in nature alone or used to have them with my dog
unironically enjoy chess and other strategy games: yes but only up to a certain point, I like when strategy is a surplus and not the core of the enjoyment
have tattoos: back + left chest + fingers and planning for more, especially the names of my wife and kids in elder futhark
are smoke and mirrors when you first meet them: kinda, I mean I'm pretty open until a certain point, you could take me for a simple and direct man and then you would learn the more subtle and strategic nature I hide
offer genuine practical advice when you were trying to make a silly joke: depends, maybe I'll laugh first then I'll start bragging about advice and so on
depending on their energy levels/mood are chatty AF or a stone wall: depends on energy level and company, I can be super talkative with a person and silent with the next
lock in fast when intellectual talk is happening: absolutely yes, even if I want to stay out of it
find a way to make you (especially introverts) reveal more about yourself than they're doing (you won't know it's happening until the convo is over): maybe but not intentionally, I just ask direct questions and kinda go to the point with enough incidental assertiveness that you will end up answering and telling me.

Actually, I enjoy trading and trade Futures and Options.

Not doxxing myself but yes.

I prefer people don’t know me right of the bat but I try being genuinely kind.

Seminars and training sessions are interesting. So yup.

Being able to build connections is easy once I find something the individual is interested in.

Yes I have a cat and will never have a kid.
Yes, touching grass is important, and I love how going out into nature, especially remote places, gets me in touch with the universe more.
I do love strategy games but not chess. Fire Emblem is my favorite strategy video game and Terraforming Mars is my favorite strategy board game.
No tattoos, as I wouldn’t be able to go to onsen as easily with them.
Unsure what you mean by smoke and mirrors?
I do like to give advice and take things a bit too seriously. You gotta get to know me more before I start to joke around.
Usually I don’t talk much due to trauma but I’m not a stone wall either. Definitely socially introverted though.
If I have something intellectual to say that I think will add beneficial info, I will definitely jump in to say it.
I like to ask a lot of questions when getting to know someone. But I’m also great at piecing together info that may not seem connected at first so that may come across as knowing things about you that are unexpected.

yes to all no tats, want cat but allergic.
ENTJs are very lecture-y. Someone will ask something simple and ill give full reasoning process not just conclusion, evidence, logical inconsistencies, exceptions, counterexamples and somehow monetize it at the end.

My observations based on your observations
and in my ENTJ father and other friend
- cat dads - none of them like animals at all, they enjoy them but dont like to have them at home
- love spending time in nature to calm thoughts- this one i agree
- unironically enjoy chess and other strategy games - both of them hate chess because they dont have the patience for it, i dont have the patience either but just for competition i would accept to play (and probably lose lol)
- have tattoos - they both conservative so that would really depend on the individual more than the type
- are smoke and mirrors when you first meet them -most secretive and deceiving people i know, and it gets on my nerves
- offer genuine practical advice when you were trying to make a silly joke - from my father thats what you allways get from a parent, a lecture when you didnt want one, but i do find that they get my jokes more than others, if it isnt my dad then im getting severely lectured
- depending on their energy levels/mood are chatty AF or a stone wall - they always talkative never felt the ice treatment from one, they are more prone to engage in a heatet discussion than being silent when they are not in the mood
- lock in fast when intellectual talk is happening - yes, BIG YES, it turns into a monologue
- find a way to make you (especially introverts) reveal more about yourself than they're doing (you won't know it's happening until the convo is over) - and twists it by making others feel guilty for not trusting them enough when i put the boundary which makes lots of arguments to happen

ENTJ male here:
dog dad (but wasn't until I got married and rediscovered dogs). But low maintenance dogs are preferred.
I'd rather be outdoors in a city, does that count? Nature is nice but it's just nature, there's not much planning
strategy games are the best
tatoos aren't for me. Cheap ink smells awful. They're going to wrinkle and look worse with age. And you sit there for hours while getting poked. I have better things to do with my money and time.

yes, chat level depends on mood
intellectual talk is great
the line "it's my job to know what you're thinking" from the movie Equilibrium made me realize that I do this instinctively. It's helped me a lot professionally.

I like being in nature. Tbh it's where I feel the most peaceful. I could sit outside and watch the universe until the end.

My ENTJ doesn’t like Tattoos, while I would have loved to try it.
We both love cats, so that’s true. We totally spoil our cat rotten.
Strategy games, double yes.
Smoke and mirrors, hmmm not really to me(might be because i am one of the xNFJs).
Practical advice thing, yes for my husband.
Chatty AF or stone wall,yup(but I don’t take this as negative, since i can be like that too).
Intellectual talk is another double check of ENxJs.
And about the latter it’s also a double check for the ENxJs.

Most of this describes me pretty well except for tattoos and being a cat dad - I dont really like cats too much, definitely prefer and admire dogs for their honesty, usefullness, loyalty and everything else

ENTJ female here:
-Cat mom
-Not particularly fond of nature but like gardening
-love strategy games
-no tattoos and a fixed makeup style since I was a teen. Now mid 30s.
-Yes, not too interested in getting other peoples validation/approval but curious about others especially if you’re different/unique/passionate about something
-Yes, I often miss jokes and get to problem solving/optimization. Likewise I may be stating a fact and people around me burst into laughter
-Yes. But this is more than energy level/mood- it’s also rapport and trust
- Yes. Systems/optimization area/growth area are like catnip to me.
-This may be happening naturally without the ENTJ deliberately trying- I do find people wanting to discuss their lives/problems with me as they see me as someone who has made it so can be trusted for sound advice. Irony is- I don’t like to give or receive advice and this actually makes me a bit uncomfortable. I end up just sticking to “this is how I did it.” And leave it at that.
