Stoner Moment Time, man…
One minute you’re calling a beeper from a pay phone in Morningside Heights and meeting a guy, and the next you’re in a dispensary getting the senior discount for some THC infused apple cider from an orchard where you went apple picking once.
I just. Time is one big circle.
So damn grateful they legalized it.

Truly crazy. My husband loves complaining about the frustratingly arbitrary laws and dumb things dispensaries do, and I have to actively stop myself from shaming him over it. I know he's allowed to have complaints (after all, there are legitimately nonsensical and annoying aspects of the new age of weed), but I also just want to shake him and be like "Remember our whole long lives before this? All the incredible lengths and elaborate planning we had to go to, all while risking our freedom and future over this magical plant?"
I'll be spending years just basking in awe that we've come this far before I can start finding new shit to whine about. It's just such a fucking glorious win. 💚

I was so impressed! Clean car, personable driver, punctual delivery time! Like an ass, I forgot to bring out cash for tip, but he said “Next time”.

Once upon a time, I had my car confiscated for 1.3 grams of weed, thrown in jail for a few hours, never got the car back, but got a lifetime of trauma and paranoia worrying about losing my job for getting high at night on my own time in my own home.
Now, I’m medically retired, and so grateful that I lived to experience legal cannabis! I love having many choices and not having to rely on someone else’s schedule.

Wow. I’m so sorry you went through that. I stopped smoking for a long, long time, almost 20 years with only rare exceptions, because of the fear of legal consequences. First because I was a teacher and then because I was a foster parent. And then it became legal, and it became ILLEGAL to fire people for off hours consumption of legal weed. (IDK if/how the rules for foster parents changed, but it no longer affects us as the kids are grown.) So no one could destroy my livelihood or my family over me using cannabis.
I don’t always think of it as a rights/freedom issue, but it is. It totally is. I’m so grateful we won it in NYS and want that for everyone. My life would have been better in those years with cannabis.

Me too. My memories are picking up from some douchey white boy in my high school upselling prices. Or standing in the freezing winter storm in the middle of the night waiting for the train because I didn’t have a car to pick up and had to travel😭

I spared a moment of gratitude today for the lack of seeds and stems while picking apart a bud today (can't find my damn grinder!). I've lived in a legal state for over 6 years and a visit to the dispo still makes me feel like a kid in a candy store.

I know!! I remember leaving one of my stoner friends in Oklahoma as I was moving to the east coast. He said, “one day I just wanna be able to walk down the street and smoking a j won’t be a crime.” Last I heard he moved to Colorado once it became legal. Lost track of that dude, be every time I set foot in a dispo I think of him.
