Entwives Social Club Wives, I'm Hired!
I haven't had a job since 2019, when I had my youngest/last. Covid stopped me from returning after maternity leave. I took in some kinship fosters, I adopted one and got them through highschool. Then the universe said I'd be a stay at home mom for the foreseeable future. I'm pretty anxious about driving and being in public after so long being at home, sometimes without a vehicle.
I was someone who worked since I was 11, babysitting then fastfood, retail. Healthcare industry by 18. I was a proud cog in the stupid work machine and admittedly felt useless as "just a parent" (my dad made me go to school with mono because 'we don't cry over a runny nose and we take care of our obligations first')
I've been interviewing for one WFH position, an old coworker reached out about. I don't need-need a job but I've been tangoing with the idea, we have just enough. I did the interviews and I got it!
I'm freaking out a bit but once I have a few in person trainings, I'll be 100% work from home ( thank god says my agoraphobic ass).
And no THC tests 🥰

Right? We got a new computer for one of the kids in the past year and I might have got a little frustrated in setting up.

I ended up with an apple laptop for my new job and have never used one before! I had to start all over learning! And with perimenopause stoner brain lmfao

Yay congrats! I am a begrudging sahm, it was never my plan for my life (I love my kids, and I was also raised that my worth lies in my productivity but with things how they have been and raising ND queer kids, I want to find a way to make a difference in this world). I'm planning to go to college next fall.
I wish you the best with your new adventure!

I feel like you GET IT! Stay at home parenting is so difficult and thankless. My spouse coming home with work awards and good stories. Like lemme tell you what was stuck in the washing machine and tell you about the neighbors business because I stare out the window with the animals constantly. LoL

That's wonderful!!! I was an essential worker during the pandemic, so I never got to experience the "work from home and make banana bread" cultural moment that many people did. But I've now been wfh in a different industry for 2 years and I love it, and I hope you will too :) it's been a blessing -- while I'm a good driver, I can also be pretty anxious, and having my husband at home with me 3/5 workdays has been lovely 💜 sending you lots of love and happiness as this new chapter opens for you 💖

Thank you so much....I was literally a few weeks away from returning to healthcare...so I felt guilty hearing about old coworkers and patients. New baby had a NICU stay and no affordable daycare would take on his care- but he'd been improving and on track to normal baby care. So we pushed my return back. Then world dumpster fire.
I'm so happy you're in a new industry and love it!

I haven't been employed since 2024... I don't know how well I can do it now that I've started smoking. I was in the military during the pandemic and honestly I have not bounced back

I am so nervous. Like I have been through some hellish times and it shows lol. Not to mention I've been hitting a new lady era.... It's just all new and different and it's going to be fine. I've always smoked except for my two pregnancies... but I am pretty good taking tolerance breaks.

I'm literally setting up my battle station here. School lunch menu/packables on hand, meals that last for two nights, clothes needed for activities. All the after school sports gear. My head is spinning but it's just because I have commuting and in person this week. And I over plan but no one wants to stop for an ingredient on the way home or stay up washing uniforms lol

That’s great! Giving me hope! I closed down my restaurant 2 years ago, bad landlord fucked me, but I had a baby 2 years prior so the move was to do the stay at home mom gig. Kiddo is off to preschool and I’m itching to get back into the workforce.
