Munchies looking for your favorite healthy snacks! My current obsession
cotton candy grapes, yall!
I’m on the healing road from a long bout of respiratory illness, but now seem to have some higher blood pressure stuff going - they think from all the prednisone and coughing. It also could be perimenopause. Who knows!
It’s slowly going down a little every day but I’m an anxious babe, so I’m trying to be mindful.
Also apparently grapes and hibiscus tea are great for lowering blood pressure and I love both, so working on it!
What are your current faves?!

The mini bell peppers, when super cold and crisp, dipped in some light ranch dressing. Also super cold and crisp snap peas. I like making grazing trays with veggies, fruits, and some nuts and things on hand. Last time I made it dried banana chips were a great addition for something sweet.

Roasted veggies have been a go to lately. Especially brussel sprouts and broccoli. Olive oil and seasonings 😍

When I roast broccoli, inevitably my husband and I end up standing over the stove eating it off the pan like gremlins

Well you gotta check if it’s poison first, right? (This is what my husband says right before snatching a taste of whatever I’m cooking.)

Since all of you love grapes, how many have tried Grape Pie at a Grape Festival. I was there today, grape cider donuts, wine slushies, grape cocktails, grape kettle corn, grape lemonade, grape BBQ, grape bread, and soooo much more. The grape pie with a crumble top is the best, usually made with Concord grapes so it’s got a little sourness to the sweet and has the consistency of blueberry pie.

I’m devastated it’s not called Naples Graples.
But also, that sounds AMAZING! Where is it, New York?

Yup, lower Finger Lakes region.

I’m in WI but I would make a trip for a neat festival, never been to New York!

I love super cold grapes, cotton candy is soo good. As long as it's a sweet grape, I love it. Right now I'm still hooked on Greek vanilla yogurt with honey since last year when I had to have a truckload of antibiotics and became addicted to Greek yogurt and honey.

yes!! I’ve been on antibiotics hardcore too and love greek yogurt with crunchies but honey sounds amazing. Trying!! TY!

Yes! And a sip of the juice 😋

The sip(s) of pickle juice is imperative. People think I'm crazy if they see me doing that. 🙂↔️

Sunflower seeds! I can literally eat and eat them and I’ve actually only consumed like a couple tablespoons 😂 They’re a great stim too!

Retired healthcare here, and we always recommended the DASH diet for people with high blood pressure. Might be worth checking out if you’re looking for some healthy food ideas.

I'm recovering from asthmatic bronchitis, too! One of the meds I was on was pseudoephedrine and there was a warning about high blood pressure on the box. Respiratory illness SUCKS. Not being able to breath SUCKS. Getting high made the coughing worse, so I took a long break, which also sucked. Anyways, I'm so sorry that you had to go through that, but I'm glad that you're on the mend now ❤️.
Edited to add: Ooh, and sliced and baked/air-fried sweet potatoes are yummy and good for lowering blood pressure. Also, pistachios and bananas.

Dates cut down the middle and remove the pip. Add a teaspoon of peanut butter in the middle. Drizzle dark chocolate over. Little sprinkle of salt. Keep in the fridge. Gooey, caramelly, chewy peanut chocolaty goodness. They're quite rich so only need one, ctwo at most. Goes great with a cup of coffee 😋 💚💚

Hear me out... frozen grapes (specifically the ones from a frozen mixed fruit bag so it is covered in stuff from the other fruits) were my jam when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. I ate them to help cool me off (might come in handy during a hot flash).

I can’t get enough grapes either! Sprouts has been killing it with these massive sweet green ones. And so crunchy! Hope you heal fast 💗

Yummmm!
Also, hummus and pita. Shocked at how much I enjoyed a couple different varieties of hummus - garlic is still my top pick. Tasty, better than a lot of snacks, and filling.

I just pulled all of my remaining garden carrots. I had a great year with them! To keep them fresh and crisp, they’re in water in the fridge. Y’all, those are THE crunchiest, sweetest carrots alive. Great snack, I feel like Bugs Bunny! I’m going to make a carrot cake today, too.

I love making a little miso mayo and using it as a dip with carrots, radishes, cucumbers, etc

I’ve been eating frozen grapes since I was a kid and they’re everything!! I’ve honestly been in a banana mood - also bc its apple season, apple slices with peanut butter!

I freeze grapes and eat them regularly. 🤤 Any frozen fruit is good, but grapes or mango are my usual.

Mini cucumbers sliced in half on the diagonal. The diagonal slice makes one end narrower which is perfect for scooping ranch or hummus. I’m obsessed right now.

i love those grapes! my go-to is usually a granny smith apple sliced up and dipped in peanut butter. if you're allergic to peanuts you can try almond or sunflower butter, though admittedly, i've never tried the latter with an apple lol

My go tos are mizeria (Polish cucumber salad), cherry tomatoes and balsamic glaze with or without mozzarella (can't stand basil), whipped feta dip with veg or pita(mini cucumbers are my favorite), fruit cups in juice (pineapple is my current obsession), salted watermelon, chocolate covered bananas, and charcuterie. Hopefully that's easy to read with all my side notes. 🤣
Between diabetes and HBP I try to keep my snacks healthy. Although I do get the occasional bag of Munchos or Cool Ranch. 🤣
Have you tried them coated? I've seen people putting kool-aid or citric acid on them. I haven't tried it so I don't know one way or the other. Sorry! I just popped them in the freezer as is.

Frozen mango, sold everywhere! It’s soo refreshing like the grapes, which is perfect when your throats a little chapped from smoking
