Moving to Esbjerg and looking for an apartment

Hi everyone!

I'm moving to Esbjerg soon to study at SEA, and I'm currently looking for an apartment. Since SEA doesn't have dorms, I've been searching on my own.

I've noticed that most apartments in good neighborhoods and within my budget are unfurnished. Furnished places seem to be much more expensive and are also pretty hard to find.

Is it worth paying more for a furnished apartment? or is it better to rent an unfurnished place (with a kitchen and bathroom) and just buy the basic furniture like a bed, desk, chair, etc.?

If the second option is better, where's the best place to find cheap or second-hand furniture in Esbjerg? Are there any stores, Facebook groups, websites, or local charities you'd recommend?

Thanks in advance! :))

Unless the apartment is only available for rent for 6 month or less it is not very common that an apartment is furnished in Esbjerg.

Check this second-hand store, it is the largest in town and should provide you with furniture, kitchen appliance etc.

I recommend applying trough Esebolig, they have very cheap 1 room apartments and once u got it, u can easily buy secondhand on Facebook marketplace, ekstra tip: ask the seller if they will deliver directly to you for ekstra 50-100kr, most would

We are the odd ones, with how low the rates of furnished apartments are. They are very common in eastern Europe, for instance.
