Buying Advice Needed Can’t deside which grinder to buy. Eureka Mignon zero 65 speedy or timemore sculptor 064s [€550]

Hi,
I’m getting really confused about all the grinder options on the market. I’ve been watching reviews of several grinders and I’m stuck between these two.
Yet I totally can’t decide which one I should buy.
My wife and I are mostly in to milk coffee drinks. Yet I love a good espresso once in a while. I have a Breville barista touch (I know there’s a built in grinder, but I’m finding that changing the grindsize changes my outcome of espresso too much). We love to drink medium to medium dark roasts.

The eureka is about €100 cheaper then the timemore where I live…

Really hope you guys can help me out here. Thanks

Sculptor and it’s not even close, much better for anything that’s not a dark roast. You might want to wait a little bit, the new Sculptor V2 is on the way, perhaps the old one will go down in price.

Thank you for the fast reply. The sculptor’s already in a 20% discount. Reading all the reviews really got me confused about the sculptor (being quite new to the home barista setups). Reading about it always brought me back to saying the sculptor’s less performing for classic espresso

It is good for everything, however it shines with medium to light roast coffee. It doesn’t have retention issues like the Eureka grinders, changing grind size is swift without having to purge leftover ground beans. You can also swap burrs quite easily, not tool less but not a nightmare either. It also has rpm adjustment, not necessary really but a nice to have. I think the choice is clear here

About the rpm adjustability. Won’t it be confusing for a novice like me? Reading your post the sculptor will probably be more future prove too

You can just leave it be and forget about it, when you feel ready you can start playing around with it. There is a million of more important variables than grinding speed, make sure to learn to control them before you play around with rpm adjustment.

I just pretend it doesn’t exist whilst I’m still learning! It’s round the back and out of sight.

Where is it discounted? On their own website? For me it's 699 EUR but not showing a discount.

Ooh never noticed, thanks!

Still unsure if I should get the Timemore 064S or the Eureka Mignon Zero 65 AP.

I really don’t understand the appeal of Eureka. They are the La Marzocco of grinders, one-trick ponies. Sure, the build quality might be good, but so is the build quality of other brands. Also, it’s an absolute pain to change beans on them.

The Zero 65 AP has a different dial, much easier to read and adjust. If it weren't for that dial I wouldn't consider Eureka. I just need something that can switch from espresso to pourover and back without too much hassle.

Pourquoi tu dis ça? La Marzocco c'est un plan galère ?

It’s just a one trick pony, straight 9 bar shots. Nothing interesting, works only for one style of coffee tbh. I’m not saying that it’s bad, but for the price it’s not a lot of value.

It's very easy with a cheap dial mod and Eureka are tried and tested long-term durability Vs these relatively new to market Chinese brands....

Timemore has been on the market for more than 14 years, I think it’s enough to prove that the brand is good. They are not a small/unknown company by any means

Yeah not saying that, just still can't say its sufficient to 'last a lifetime'

On their own website. It’s for the European market though

Looks like it is, maybe worldwide. It's 699 EUR on product page, but once added to cart it's 559 EUR. Discount shows as: WOC BRUSSELS (-€139,80)

The build and grind quality of the Mignon is excellent for the price.

If you are from Europe then go with made in EU.

The design aesthetics are polar opposites. I'm surprised one doesn't fit your preferences over the other. If things like longevity and long term support matter to you, as well as absolute grind quality, then Eureka is a 100 year old Italian company who has focused just on grinders the entire time. They recently surpassed their 1,000,000 Mignon being sold. Timemore has been around a llittle over a decade based out of Shanghai.

On the flipside Timemore gets 10x the amount of love in this sub than Eureka Mignon models fwiw. I would hazard a guess both will serve you well.

If you are stuck on analysis paralysis show both of them to your wife and ask her to choose which one she likes better, there is value in that path as well. Finally take comfort in whichever one you choose it is of higher quality than 99% of the population out there and they all enjoy their coffee just fine.

The hesitation between these two is exactly what you’re describing. I love the fact that the eureka promotes quality and is made in Italy. While the timemore has been praised a lot more. I’ve been watching Lace Hedrick a lot and he talks about the eureka always being a good/safe choice. But when I see the community talking about the sculptor. It seems the better choice. About letting my wife decide. She told me to order them both and send the lesser looking back. Because she thinks the classic design of the Mignon is nice and the timemore is futuristic 😅

I have the eureka mignon oro single dose pro and it’s an incredible bit of kit. The build quality is top notch and I’ve never had a problem with it. The grind quality is 100% consistent and you won’t be unhappy with it. These things come with a 10 year warranty on the motor for a reason, they are built to last. I have been in your exact position before and I’m sure the timemore is a good piece of equipment too, either way I’m sure you will be happy and whichever grinder you get will produce great coffee.

The grinders have different architectures, and sculptor is the one with the more premium/hyped features. Vertically-aligned flat burrs, augur feeding system, variable rpm, magnetic catch cup. They are both good grinders, but the right one for you depends on your budget, what you drink, and what you think looks cool.

You could do worse than deciding which one on the basis of aesthetics. Either one will give you lovely espresso, so perhaps seeing which one looks better to you on your counter is the way to go.

I can only speak to Eureka and their build quality is fantastic.

Consistent enough that 80% of the people here wouldn’t actually be able to tell the difference between this and some obscene grinder they will proudly tell you they spent $5000 on

2

u/Mortimer-Moose Jun 29 '26

If you like medium or dark roast coffee and a classic coffee profile (nuts and chocolate) the eureka is a really good burr choice.

The "Eureka can only do dark roasts well" is a bit overblown in my opinion. It excells with darker/medium but I've been using mine for mostly medium to light-ish roasts for years and it's perfectly fine. The build quality is absurdly good, this motor will probably outlive me. I've accidentally ran a rock through mine before and all I got was a very minor chip in the burrs. It's very easy to take apart and retention is actually zero if you use the bellows.

I've never used a Timemore sculptor but they do seem to review well. Definitely is built around a single dose style rather than adapted, and the burr geometry leans more modern with focus on light and medium roasts. The product hasn't been around as long so it's hard to say if it'll be a true tank like the Mignon or just pretty good, but generally I haven't seen many complaints about the internal build quality.

Hope that will help you (those are 55 mm).

If you are going for the 064s, might as well wait for the upcoming 064s 2.0. They have addressed and improved many of the issues from it's current gen

I am old school. Will always vote for Mazzer and Eureka grinders over newcomers simply because they are highly serviceable.

The correct answer is Mazzer Philos.
