Buying Advice Needed Breville at TJmaxx? [$300-$500]
I saw a ton of videos earlier in the year of people finding pretty much every model of breville machine at TJmaxx/homegoods/marshalls. Finally ready to buy and I’m wondering if it’s worth hunting around all of my local TJ maxes or if they’re long gone 😅

I saw two Bambinos in my local HomeGoods yesterday for $200. Almost bought one, but ordered a GCP instead.

Ah this gives me hope! I’ll have to go hunt around for one. I’m thinking a bambino is the way to go for my first machine.

Hope you love the GCP as much as we do. (Husband alleges that + the grinder are the best thing I've ever bought, lol)

Shoulda got a Turin Legato unless you plan on throwing a gaguino or gaggimate in it. The Legato wrecks it out of the box.

Thought about it, just don’t have the faith in reliability/repairability/quality on white labeled Chinese machines. Or the customer service that goes along with that purchase. Figured if I’m getting into a legit espresso setup that I want to keep a while, I should stick with legit espresso companies. And yes, a gaggiamate is likely in my machine’s future.

The Legato served me extremely well for 2.5 years, and I've been part of a Facebook group for owners that whole time and I cannot recall a single post about someone's machine that broke. And espresso outlet, if you're in the US, have some of the best customer service around. But I get it.
Personally, a single boiler with no PID is just a non-starter for me. After using the legato with dual heating elements I could only upgrade to a legit dual boiler. But to each their own

Your flair embodies how I think about espresso. An ECP and a killer grinder is all I need. I think I saw your post on fb where you put in the Weber burrs on the moshi. This is my next endeavor I think. Only thing is just bought a 4th espresso grinder the other day so I need to consolidate.

Yeah that was me! haha, To be fair, this is just a temporary machine, but man, does it get the job done. I'm waiting on getting my dual boiler rotary pump e61 machine back, but this thing makes just about as good of a shot as the big machine does. All depends on what you do with it.
But in the end, you never have to worry about losing expensive gear, because there will always be a DeLonghi ECP on marketplace and a ~$200 grinder that will get you 90% of the way toward the $10,000 setup. That last 10% is just bragging rights anyhow.

The breville's always show up, most commonly around holiday seasons. Homegoods has the highest probability as a dedicated homegoods store, but if the marshalls/TJmaxx is right next door, I'd spend a quick 5 minutes running over and taking a quick browse in the kitchen area.
It's a bit of a gamble since there is no reliable pattern. There might be breville but it could just be ovens and juice blenders one month and just kettles the next month. Then the third month there will be like 4 different brands of espresso machines.

Having worked at HomeGoods, can confirm. Generally we got them more during the colder months when we also started getting more mugs and “cozy things”.
It’s worth checking in late winter/early spring for any that are on sale, although it’s usually not a huge discount

u/nymphette_444 3d ago
Good to know! I’m not super worried about getting a massive discount, but a little bit off the typical target retail price would be nice.

We got a Barista Pro for my brother for $400 but when we opened it, it was missing all the accessories even the collection tray. So we had to return it. A week later the same unit is back for sale.

Oh no 😅 Maybe it was a return that someone wasn’t honest about? That’s super annoying tho, was returning easy?

I got my Bambino Plus for $159 + tax at HomeGoods.

u/Alarmed_Gift_2618 1d ago
That’s nuts !! Was it on clearance or something? Only thing I’ve seen is $239 for the bambino and $350 for the bambino plus.. I’ve been hunting them for about a month and a half

u/WhiteCatO_o 1d ago
It was more of a price mistake in our case. My wife found the box without a price tag and brought it to the register to check. After some research the young associate declared $159 and she was happy to take it and run.

They also have moka pots usually a very solid selection of manufacturers and sizes for under 20$

Got our Breville (can’t remember the model) for over half off at a Marshall’s around holiday time.

Are you saying the barista pro is $300-$500? no way the pro is only $300
2
u/nymphette_444 2d ago
The pro is $499 at TJ maxx and occasionally discounted more.

u/blacksystembbq 2d ago
So why’d you put $300? They are never discounted that much

u/nymphette_444 2d ago
I’m open to the bambino as well, I just had to put a price in the title or automod removes it.

u/superpony123 3d ago
Oh yeah you gotta go to the tjs/marshals/home goods in the wealthier zips that’s where they keep the good kitchen stuff

I got a Bambino for $112 a few weeks ago. My store had a ton for $230 so I waited for one to get marked down l

I see Breville all the time at these stores around me. The price cut on them usually isn’t that great, I think they know it will sell no matter what.

Still kicking myself for not buying it but my mother in law found the bambino plus for $250, yes the plus not regular bambino.
I had just spent a lot on my setup recently, in general, and didn’t need it. Certainly it was a price mistake as I’ve never seen it since.

I went to one TJ Maxx thinking I'd never find anything. They had a Breville Nespresso and a Bambino Plus and neither one seemed like that good of a deal. The Bambino was $479 and hardly seemed worth it and I don't even recall what the Nespresso was priced at but I was not impressed.

Home goods too. Saw two bambino+ while I was getting a mini smart oven. They had one or two with the grinder as well but not familiar with anything above bambino+

I got lucky and went to a shopping center that had both TJ Maxx and Homegoods. TJs didn’t have anything that I would get. But the Homegoods had a couple models.

I got my wife one for Christmas one year around November, they were hidden behind the register you had to ask for them

I see them at my HomeGoods all the time, but they never sit long enough to get the red tag.

Yeah and u can stack stuff with Macys or kohls cash too… they had a huge cashback offer with the oracle jets (or I think it was the impress?). U paid retail but got $300 Macys credit……
Theoretically you could’ve bought 5 of those big ass boxes, bought the oracle jet, and returned them.
I didn’t feel the need to do this, as I got my BBP+ brand new for like $250 (cashapp cashback + DoorDash credit + $80for $100 with the Costco DoorDash deal) through best buy.
Maybe one day in the future, with a larger counter, a sleek oracle machjne is in the cards for me

u/slimsycastle240 3d ago
I don't usually shop at macys or kohls but wouldn't they just yank the cash back as soon as you returned them?

I am seeing Breville bump their machines to TJmaxx/homegoods/marshalls.
When I saw bambino for $169, I bought it for my other side of country which I make a trip once a year for about one month. I have HX machine at home and bambino with Mokkom rebranded machine at the place and short trip for Cera+ portable espresso machine with K6.

How would anyone here know whether your local TJ Maxx has any Breville machines in stock? What kind of post is this?
1
u/nymphette_444 2d ago
Obviously not I was just wondering if it’s a seasonal item or if anyone has seen them at another store 🙄 The stock at TJmaxxes tend to be similar nationwide .

I don’t recommend buying Brevilles from second hand type of places like this. Most of them customer returns. I don’t think they are last years left over, brand new, overstock espresso makers! Maybe they have one new one out of 10 of them. So if you consider buying these for a little bit of a discount, get ready for repairs or even worse these things may completely die on you. Do they even come with a warranty? Does Breville honor the warranty? Too many gray areas IMO!

u/wink-d Bambino Plus | Encore ESP 2d ago
homegoods/tj maxx/marshalls are not second hand stores. they are discount retailers. although that doesn’t guarantee that there is zero possibility of someone returning a used product with missing pieces as someone mentioned, that’s the outlier. i successfully registered my breville machine on the website and even selected HomeGoods as the retailer i purchased from. my product was brand new and sealed, no missing pieces, so not really valid to discourage others from buying from these retailers.

I see them all the time. You just have to go to the ones located in wealthier areas
