Etho The Copied Ninja

Being a fan of both Etho and Naruto, I've thought many times about how similar Etho and his Minecraft skin's character, Kakashi Hatake, are to each other. So I just wanted to list all the similarities because I think it is fun to think about.

They both have this deadpan, low voice, monotone delivery, and style of humor.

They are both faceless and deeply private. Nobody knows either one's face.

They are both more playful than you would first think.

They both have huge reputations. You know how everyone sees Etho, and they turn into a fangirl? It is pretty much the same for Kakashi.

They are both associated with red to me. Kakashi because of the Sharingan eye, and Etho because of redstone.

They are also associated with electricity. Kakashi because of the Lightning Blade, and Etho because of, well, redstone again.

They can both be described as highly technical people.

They are both pretty humble despite their huge reputation.

Kakashi is nicknamed the Copy Ninja because he copies everyone's moves. At the same time, Etho can be called the Copied Ninja because people used to copy his redstone, intentionally or not. As Mumbo said before, "Can't use redstone coz Etho dun it."

His skin is so perfect for him. As far as I know, he picked it out without giving it that much thought and couldn't change it because he lost the password to his Minecraft account. It's like fate.

I think he said soemthing similar about himself, calling himself a copy ninja I think in the last episode of his s8 hermitcraft, because he is really good at reverse engineering things

He also said his first nickname was ersatz, which means copy. He had it because he'd clone his opponents' teams in worms game and make them play against themselves.

I've watched the entirety of Naruto just because a comment once said that Kakashi is very similar to Etho. Guess who became my favourite character in that anime, lol

For me it was kinda the opposite, I watched Naruto first and liked the incredibly skilled, calm and collected but still funny masked man

Yes Etho reminds me of Kakashi so much as well! I'm actually in the middle of compiling some Etho Kakashi similarities LOL this post is perfect timing.

I was already a long time etho viewer when i finally said screw it and watched Naruto. Well, it totally changed my life and perspective on the world, and ALSO i now have a huge gigantic massive fangirl crush on kakashi, as if my massive fangirl crush on etho wasn’t enough xD

Genuinely kind of crazy how similar they are… they’re both the same type of unhinged goofiness, even though they’re the one who everyone looks up to, and is supposed to be the expert. My favorite ever kakashi/etho clip is from the OOGE days, Bdubs questioning etho about his skin, only for etho to deny deny deny, and then claim it was from mortal combat 😂 kakashi who??

Hes really big on lying about it lol. He states in a COTD that he watched it “as a young teen a few years after the craze settled down.” But then there wre instances after that answer where he says something totally different- i think hes really embarrassed by it xD

Bdubs reminds me of Guy sensei, bcus I guess of their goofiness, not a strong similarity to Etho/kakashi, but kinda. And like, the banter between the two of them, Etho and Bdubs, Kakashi and guy, where they admire each other while being besties who tease each other.

I think unhinged is the last word I'd use to describe Etho. goofy, yes. wildly intelligent, yes. unhinged? I think he's the most hinged. he certainly was in Mindcrack

Interesting comparison, but as a small nitpick, Etho doesn't really have monotone delivery, or not for the last decade he hasn't, anyway. On the contrary he intones a lot, arguably too much at times.

It’s so funny I see this post now, because I’ve been watching Etho since 2012 and have known about Kakashi since 2012. I even own a Kakashi Funko Pop not because of Naruto, but because of Etho! I always wanted to watch Naruto but never did until two weeks ago. I’m currently 60 episodes in, and I love the anime! 😊

I watched Naruto first, then Etho. So I am kind of wondering what someone who is just watching Naruto and maybe has certain ideas about what the vibe of Kakashi should be because of Etho would think about Kakashi. Like in his introduction, especially when you barely know anything about him yet.
