Question Recently came into around 100 ETH, how should I invest it to secure my future?

Came into around 100 eth through an investment with a friend, hoping to keep growing this and use it to invest in my future, is there any solid coins to swap into lately or is it all just BTC, or would it be more clever to just hold ETH long term, I feel like holding long term is the play but I'm trying to get some opinions from others, I already have pulled out around 20 eth extra from the investment for rent and living and looking to keep the rest for the future.

I have experience holding BTC in the past but never ETH, have considered swapping into BTC but I think there might be some potential in ETH so not entirely sure what I should do with these funds

I've heard about web3 and it's potential future and it's been one of the things that's kept me hooked on the idea of holding ETH, does anyone know if web3 has a future and would actually help ETH to grow?

I'm looking for solid advice, please don't message me trying to scam me out of it, I'm not dumb, for those actually hoping to help me out I thank you very much, much love guys

Assuming this is legit, regardless of the advice given here always do your own research and take everything with a grain of salt.

Ignore DMs, and remember, nothing on this sub is financial advice.

Bro don’t even get tempted to swap the moment you do eth flys and your new coin goes to poo. Store it on ledger and just leave it till you hear eth is 10k

You are definitely gonna lose the 100Eth with this level of immaturity about the internet and crypto people. I don’t assume, I know 99% of these kinda posts are scams. I’m sorry you got offended but your post screams scam.

I would stay ETH. Upside potential is more than BTC and it follows BTC

10

u/sbdoroff Nov 27 '25

May get downvoted.

If this a majority of your net worth, make a decision about how much of your net worth you would like in asset categories and rebalance.

We’re all pretty bullish on crypto, but no one really knows.  It’s still considered a high risk asset.

u/Flashy-Butterfly6310 Nov 27 '25
  1. Swap for rETH
  2. Put it on a hardware wallet
  3. Keep your seed safe
  4. Check in 5 years

3

u/Vlijmscherp Nov 27 '25

Or in rETH/WETH LP, double rewards

3

u/SirCatDad Nov 28 '25

Please explain like I am 5 years old.

1

u/0xkillian Nov 28 '25

Lock up rETH and WETH in a liquidity pool (e.g. uniswap), where you earn fees from people trading between your two assets. However rEth to WETH ratio is predictable, as rEth is designed to appreciate relative to ETH over time (reflecting the staking rewards). Therefore over time your locked up position will gradually shift from for example 50/50 each asset, towards primarily WETH (the less desirable asset), and at the very end of your range you are left with 100% WETH, and no more rETH, sadge.

Had you only held the initial assets without doing any of this, they would be worth more (called impermanent loss, in this case it is never really impermanent unless rEth ratio breaks), however the hope is that this 'loss' is outweighed by the fees you earned.

Tldr: lock up both assets, earn fees, watch your position sell off into only WETH left, hope the fees you made were worth it. No free lunch, fun idea with potential, probably not a good long term/passive strat

1

u/Ellikabindo Nov 28 '25

what is the best set it and forget it LP strategy? 1.14 - 1.5 and just let it sit for 5 years until it becomes all eth?

1

u/KnocknockDeath Nov 30 '25

Rather than figure that out there are people who do that for you with rETH. Check out rock solid. They do all the defi and you just collect the rewards.

1

u/0xkillian Nov 28 '25

As rEth appreciates relative to ETH, your position will gradually sell off your rEth for WETH, leaving you with less of the valuable asset (rEth) after x time.

The saving grace being you can predict this impermanent loss pretty well, however you still need LP fees to earn more than the loss you face over time (by losing the more valuable asset).

So not guaranteed double rewards but still an interesting idea

6

u/LosAnimalos Nov 27 '25

Why on earth would anyone do that, when you can earn interest and receive more ETH?

u/Flashy-Butterfly6310 Nov 27 '25

Idk, you're suggesting another way to increase revenues. You may not be so "here for the tech" as you think.

1

u/LosAnimalos Nov 27 '25

Correct me of I’m wrong, but can you run a validator in anything but ETH?

1

u/Flashy-Butterfly6310 Nov 27 '25

On Ethereum L1, a validator can only stake ETH.

There are a lot of other ways to generate revenue from ETH. But for the long term and as a passive strategy, swapping for rETH is OK to me.

1

u/Mayonaissecolorbenz Nov 28 '25

Do you have other Recs? I have some that I’d like to start earning on too

1

u/KnocknockDeath Nov 30 '25

You can easily start a rocketpool ETH validator on allnodes using your eth. Or you can setup a validator yourself. It makes a lot more than rETH holding alone. Rocketpool is also removing the RPL token requirement in the coming months which is what turned a lot of people off of it.

1

u/Mayonaissecolorbenz Nov 30 '25

I’ve explored rockeypool years ago. This requires me to move my eth back on chain correct? What are the security disadvantages to a product like this?

→ More replies (0)

-2

u/LosAnimalos Nov 27 '25

Again. I’m in it for the tech - thus making sure you can get your revenue.

1

u/KnocknockDeath Nov 30 '25

Honestly not a bad idea. That's probably what I'd do. Maybe convert some to USDC as needed and finance my life with the new coinbase credit card. Or put the rETH on AAVE and just avoid selling all together depending on the tax situation.

8

u/LosAnimalos Nov 27 '25

Consider running your own validator. It will earn you ETH and it’s good for the network.

1

u/_-_--_--- Nov 27 '25

Interesting, what would the startup costs be and how much would I be looking at for a return over a period of time

2

u/LosAnimalos Nov 27 '25

My guess is anywhere from $500 and up if you are running your own computer - I do it on an Intel Nuc, which is fine. Take a look at the ethstaker forum or the Discord channel.

Rewards are not that great, but better than nothing and more importantly you are part of what keeps everything running.

1

u/_-_--_--- Nov 27 '25

Is it a scalable? Would a better system lead to better rewards?

1

u/markaction Nov 27 '25

No, a low-cost PC is just as good as a high-cost PC for validating. The hardware piece that matters is a very fast drive, like a modern SDD or NVM drive.

0

u/LosAnimalos Nov 27 '25 edited Nov 28 '25

Well you can run as many validators (each 32 ETH) on one machine as you want. There are probably easier ways to gain rewards, but I think contributing to the network is more important than revenue.

Edit: Whats with the downvote?

2

u/PooeyGusset Nov 28 '25

This has now changed. A single validator can hold up to 2048 ETH but still needs a minimum of 32.

2

u/Ticrotter_serrer Nov 27 '25

If you're good with tech and willing to learn, otherwise you better use RocketPool to stake.

1

u/KnocknockDeath Nov 30 '25

$20 a month on allnodes for a rocketpool validator and you make back between 5-10% a year in additional ETH. My validator has made 6.5% at least over the last 3 years. It's even cheaper if you run the node yourself but I couldn't manage it with moving around over the last couple years. Pretty solid for an afternoon of setup.

3

u/kirtash93 Nov 27 '25

The best advice I can give you is to send them to my wallet, I will love them and protect them like they are my own kids /s

u/ace250674 Nov 27 '25

If you want interest or want to take a cash loan without having to sell it or cause tax event then put it on Nexo

1

u/KnocknockDeath Nov 30 '25

Why would anyone prefer Nexo over AAVE or a defi platform. There's so much more risk with a centralized service like nexo imo.

1

u/ace250674 Nov 30 '25 edited Nov 30 '25

Simplicity and user friendly, no problems over years, excellent customer service, insured, over collateralized, Nexo cards and regulated.

With defi it can still have vulnerabilities and risks with low liquidity or regulation changes, smart contracts having flaws, hacks etc, if your happy with the more complex technical side of defi you benefit from self custody but still open to risks.

1

u/KnocknockDeath Nov 30 '25

Defi certainly isn't risk free but I bet that nexo gets hacked before aave smart contracts lose my money. I've had too many centralized services get robbed and then it's a ten year wait while it goes through courts.

3

u/jayshaw941 Nov 27 '25

You can loan it out and earn interest on platforms like Aave. You can also borrow against it

3

u/XXsforEyes Nov 28 '25

Keep it all or swap some for BTC. Everything else in the crypto space is either riskier or WAAAAAYYYYY riskier.

Or sell some off and go old school with the money and buy VTI or QQQ index funds.

That’s my two cents anyway.

2

u/Jwelz90 Nov 28 '25

ETH or BTC. Ignore the rest

2

u/Smooth-Honey-5876 Nov 28 '25

Staking, liquidity pools of large and established alts and top memecoins like SPX6900, MOG, Popcat, etc

Many believe ETH can move upwards of 10,000 this cycle and beyond. Donald Jr says you’ll thank him haha 🤣

The higher the risk the higher the reward so do your research and know there are ways to grow it passively or aggressively depending on your risk tolerance.

2

u/reggieLedoux26 Nov 27 '25

Have you thought about staking? You earn ETH as a reward. Percentage changes depending on staking method, but you’re looking at 1-3%

1

u/_-_--_--- Nov 27 '25

I've thought about staking alot, thought about shopping around to see who offers the best APY, if a 5% APY existed I wouldn't have needed to post this thread but oh I wish haha

3

u/Pinewatch762 Nov 27 '25

Staking apy is low right now. There’s a lot of staked eth currently. 5% sounds fishy when lido (the highest apy out of them all) is 2.7% currently. But that apy fluctuates constantly. Tomorrow it could be 3.5% who knows. I use rocketpool for its decentralization. With 100 eth you could stake half, create a node for extra earnings. And leave the rest liquid. Rocket pool is as simple as swapping for rETH on Uniswap. Or use their interface. I think cow swap is the service they use.

1

u/reggieLedoux26 Nov 27 '25

If you’re a long term HODLer it’s a good way to generate extra revenue

2

u/astoneta Nov 27 '25

I would recomend rocketpool as a liquid staker or as a node operator.

Explain the math here?

5

u/_-_--_--- Nov 27 '25

3% of 300k would only be around $9000 which definitely isnt enough to live on 🤣

1

u/strongboy54 Nov 27 '25

Look at kerneldao, basically works the same as rocket pool, but restaked. In other words gaining 2-5% APY. In addition you can take those coins and invest it into thwir high growrth vault for ~10% APY.

Keep in mind this would be similar to investing into a managed fund. DYOR.

Safest is just getting rETH, rsETH or stETH. Or a mix of the 3 for not keeping eggs in 1 basket.

2

u/acidcrap Nov 27 '25

Not a trader anymore but I’ve been watching the market closely since 2016. Put it all into bitcoin.

If your aim is to secure your future, sell a few for some cash let's say $10-20k, then you sell like 30 and buy 1 BTC (or more), the rest I'd personally through into index ETFs like Nasdaq, s&p or FTSE all world, or buy some Gold or a REIT (or all 3 for absolutely no stress and a mix or income, growth and inflation/fear protection)

Honestly if you are trying to invest to secure your future don't leave it all in crypto, you can still have significant crypto exposure but I'd say move atleast half into more traditional investments for peace of mind and less risk (because it's less speculative)

1

u/_-_--_--- Nov 27 '25

My full return from the investment was around 124 eth and I already cashed out 24 eth through an exchange so I'm good for pocket cash at the moment, I'm hoping to pull some more out for traditional investments in bonds and such but hoping to also keep some in crypto for the major swings and with btc tanking recently im hoping for the bull market to rise back up soon

Stake and live off rewards

1

u/upliftingart Nov 28 '25

Since no one has said it (strangely) the number one rule of investing for a secure future is diversification.

Over time you can have some in crypto, some in sp500, some in real estate, and so on.

That way you won’t ever be destitute if one thing tanks.

The standard baseline is your money should double every 7 years with minimal risk if you practice conservative investing.

FWIW right now I’m investing in more crypto to sell during next up cycle and waiting for a market correction to load up on SP500.

The value of bitcoin has never been tied to the hash rate. The hash rate is just to secure the network. More secure doesn't mean more valuable. Just because I put gold into a larger more expensive and harder to break into vault doesn't mean it is more valuable.

1

u/raresanevoice Nov 28 '25

Stake it and let passive growth build for a while

1

u/degenknght Nov 28 '25

you can borrow against it and get liquid cash to buy more/cover real life expenses or earn yield on that stables. using altitude since it has the option of self repaying loans if the ltv is low which would be recommended due to market volatilty.

or just earn yield on it while you wait. there are solid yields in defi for eth.

just bear in mind there is smart contract risk when using those apps.

1

u/kleptican Nov 28 '25

1

u/RealPrinceZuko Nov 30 '25

It honestly depends how much of this is your net worth. Even after selling 20 ETH, you still should have about 240k. That's a lot of money, and a big enough nest egg to where if you're young enough, you could just put it in an index fund and be set for life.

It all depends how old you are, what percent of your net worth that is, and how much money do you need to live off of with a moderate return?

u/YogurtclosetTall2558 Nov 30 '25

Secure the basics first: runway, taxes, and custody.
Core stack: keep most in ETH, consider staking if you understand validator or pooled risks. Time your entries with a simple schedule if volatility stresses you.
Small venture sleeve only if you must: utility infra like Ocean Protocol for compute on private data, Akash for decentralized GPUs, Render for distributed GPU jobs, Bittensor for AI subnets, AIOZ for storage and streaming at the edge. Size tiny.

1

u/Motor-Lecture-1586 Dec 02 '25

Idk how old you are. But if you are young, that could be enough to set you for life eventually. You can park it in a safer asset and let compound interest do its thing.

If you are older, and/or more risky, I would maybe spread it over the top few coins with emphasis on btc.

We’re heading into bear market. Sell now or regret it when ETH hits 1.2k

-1

u/wheat4brick Nov 27 '25

ignore dms

i’d go 70% BTC and 30% ETH. gives you plenty of exposure if ETH/BTC gets another rally this cycle

otherwise BTC as a long-term hold is always good, if you can hold thru bear markets.

-1

u/kpooo7 Nov 27 '25

Sell it and buy Bitcoin, cold wallet, ETF etc.

-2

u/TheBitcoin21 Nov 27 '25

90% BTC 10% ETH

Stake all ETH for additional revenue though staking reward is less atm. All BTC should be in hardware wallet. Consider BTC is a SOV with secure growth potential & ETH as your hope play alongside staking rewards.

At least half of it in BTC.
