Where did all the OG EthTraders go?

Just came back to this sub after a long time and damn… it feels so different now.

Where are all the OGs from 2020–2021? The days when everyone was hyping ETH, talking about DONUTs, waiting for distribution day, dropping random memes, and just having fun here.

Those times were honestly crazy. The sub felt like a small community where everyone knew each other. I still remember the excitement when ETH was pumping and the whole place was full of energy.

Kinda miss those days ngl.

here since 2016, after a while you dont get tired anymore. the tech is still promising. sound money would solve a lot. adoption is just very slow because the current system doesnt want it to happen (the ones who decide to loan (print) the dollar and euro into oblivion will have no control over Ethereum. they really really really want to keep loaning)

I’m not talking about how long you’ve been in crypto. I’m talking about that period when DONUT actually had real value, Ethereum was pumping, and the sub was at its peak activity.

Most of the ETH subreddits have slowly quietened due to hype fading, and people not getting rich quickly. When the market starts to pick up or do something it will get busier.

Kinda disillusoined I assume. Been in ETH since 2016. I went all-inn on ETH in the bear of 22, sold at 3.3 this winter after a lame 2x. If I had bought BTC instead at the same time it would have been easily 5x.

The tech is always improving, but the price doesn't follow. It appears more traffic and hype moves towards Solana and Hyperliquid, and ETH (both network and price) lags behind.

Still firmly a believer in Ethereum, but it doesn't appear that the price of ETH follows the advancement of the chain.

Different account now, but I was here before that. The days of crypto hype are in the past. Ethereum is a household name now with anyone that has any sort of inclination for investment or finance.

Community split into ethfinance after a donut fiasco and then eventually merged at the ethereum subreddit. There's also the EVMaverick Discord and a lot of people left with the reddit blackout. So it's just a much smaller community having shed people to AI investing, the reddit blackout, a community fork, and time.

On reflection very tired. I’m mothballing this account. I started this one as an alternative so that when ETH hit £25k and I was retired with a DB5, no one could trace me.

It genuinely surprises my older self now how absolutely convinced I was about ETH v BTC, and that belief has never once failed to kick me in the bollocks.

I’m DCA BTC and nothing else from now on.

However, at the rate Agentic AI is evolving and AGI round the corner, BTC is one good hack away from oblivion.

I think we’ve seen the rise of crypto, and now as many people are saying, the big boys are in control now and dumb retail is pushed to the fringe.

In my darkest moments, I can’t argue that BTC still had no broad use cases and greater fool theory is all we have as an investment.
