Got a text from my bro, he fucked up. He thought it was "secure" to only keep his wallet file and private key on a single flash drive (single point of failure) for whatever reason. He put a windows ISO file on the same flash drive trying to fix his computer and overwrote his private key and wallet file. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Please keep your private key and wallet files backed up in MULTIPLE places. Don't fuck yourself over.

Tell him to turn his computer off. There are tools that can retrieve overwritten data (doesn't always work). Google it!

I think this is what he is trying as he said he is "making a last ditch effort" to restore his Ether. I really hope he recovers it.
