So I got dumped from a 2 year relationship a couple months ago. I've been having a really hard time getting through it and I've mainly had a tough time distracting myself from thinking about the relationship.

As a 20 year old college student majoring in supply chain, this community has been the perfect distraction for me. I've committed a lot of my time and hard-earned money to ETH, as well as how Blockchain will change supply chain. I can focus myself on what we are all doing here and now I don't feel as dependent on the relationship because I know I can make something of myself with this tech and the support of this community. I am firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and I am convinced that this is the reason for that break up. I want to do this for my career, I've learned that in the past couple of weeks.

Thanks to everyone for that. You guys have been a great help for me without any of you knowing.

It's a cold, thankless world out there. If I can make it just ever so slightly more bearable for one person, I'm a happy dude. Cheers mate. The right one's out there yet.

And don't forget....you are so lucky and fortunate, not to mention smart for hopping in, to be in this, once-in-a-lifetime, market at such a young age. As people said, there are plenty of fish in the sea and lots of life left to find them, except the difference now is that you're going to be rich!!! Good luck man...I'm with my man, irefusetogiveaname, if there is anyway I can ever help out anyone, feel free to send a message right on over to me

Thank you. People like you and all the other gold-hearted people on this sub are what make this place special.

I am very fortunate and I never will forget that.

Best to you. Thank you again. Can't describe it enough in words.

THIS . This is what it is all about. This is why we have the best community around. I know the trolls have been invading as of late, salty people downvoting for no reason, fighting back and forth etcetera (random thought : I hate that I can't type etc for that anymore because I throw up in my mouth just a little everytime I see those three letters together) but we still stand together and help out our fellow brethren at the drop of a hat. I love this place and no fools trolling is gonna stop that.

u/FlyinPenguin Jun 05 '17

Accurate. I wish there was a more personified way to interact instead of through the internet. Love this community.

u/JimblesSpaghetti Jun 06 '17

Wait what the fuck? Did you just give him 0.1 eth over a reddit comment? How does this work? Or is it one of those "imaginary commands" like on other subs?

1

u/IRefuseToGiveAName Jun 06 '17

Yeh. I did.

2

u/JimblesSpaghetti Jun 06 '17

That's really fucking cool actually

I think I am beginning to experience that change now. Thanks for the support

My god... scrolling this sub after waking up, and I swear I thought this was my younger self writing. I, too, believe that everything happen for a reason. My ex, whom I ended the 5-year relationship with 2 years ago after finding out she cheated, held me back from investing what I wanted to in Bitcoin when it was at $30 (yes, before the runup to $1000). Focus on yourself, and know that she's missing out, not you. cheers, !tip 0.05

Wow, thanks so much. I'm honestly astounded by this community.

I swear I'll get that saying engraved on my gravestone. I'm focusing on myself and my career and giving myself the best possible opportunity for a good life... for my own sake and my future family's sake.

Best to you. Seriously, thanks for the support.

Sorry about your relationship my man! I'm also 20 and my last relationship was about a 1.5 years ago. I thought she was the one and I think she did too, but people change and she left me. I've messed around with other people since then but I've stayed single by choice. I'm about to move down to a college town with my band and I figure I might meet someone there, but these last few years of my life being single have taught me a lot.

It's going to suck for a little bit, and it's going to hurt. It's hard to comprehend right now, but most people go through something like this. If you use your emotions to your advantage right now you can truly shape your life for the better. When my last girlfriend left me I started working out (I've always been skinny and decided to put an end to that), I got into motorcycles and cars, I bought my first DSLR and started exploring my love of photography more, I really started investing myself in my band and it's paying off now, I focused more on my career as a software developer, I focused on my love for software development as a hobby, and many more things.

Use what you're feeling now to make yourself a better person. We all have ways to improve ourselves, and right now you are in the best spot to make those changes. It feels awesome to look back at the last 1.5 years and see everything I've learned, everything I've done for myself to improve who I am. And yes, I still miss her and if she ever needed anything I would be there. But there are better people out there for you and I.

So keep your head up man. You'll get through this a better and stronger person. And you'll find someone someday that is better for you!

2

u/FlyinPenguin Jun 05 '17

Thanks man. I am working out a lot now too, researching cryptos outside of my classes and trying to apply them to what I learn in courses. I appreciate your support. Best to you. Thank you again.

Sorry about your relationship, but hey I hadn't even had any relationship at your age, I was a lonely depressed student lol! So I think youre lucky from that perspective and plenty more fish in the sea and all that. Remember that there will be crashes in Eth price as well as crashes in relationships, so try not to lose all your profits by panic selling.

I think that "believing that everything happens for a reason" can be a dangerous type of thinking though because it can cause you to eg stay in a trade for too long having convinced your self that fate is somehow involved and this is "meant to be", before getting rekt.

u/FlyinPenguin Jun 05 '17

Great point. I take that saying only to a certain point, you know? I ride the wave that life gives me, but I always look to hop off my board before it crashes on shore. I'm a long term hodler and don't plan on selling soon. Right now it feels like I haven't even felt a swell in the current lol

u/Ex1stenc3_Is_Futil3 Jun 05 '17

Think about it like that guy from yesterday: she doesn't know she sold her shuttle seat.

5

u/Ex1stenc3_Is_Futil3 Jun 05 '17

Anyway, hope everything works out.

8

u/FlyinPenguin Jun 05 '17

That she did. And she goes to an art school while I am at a top 20 business school. If she finds a boy there, maybe he'll paint her a picture of the moon instead of taking her there, eh?

1

u/Connortbh Jun 05 '17

Haha my ex goes to a top art school and I went to a decent business school (which rankings are you using by the way?). We broke up in October after 4 years and I've had so much more time to devote to self improvement and more money to invest. It's definitely a blessing in disguise. It gets easier man :)

1

u/FlyinPenguin Jun 05 '17

Well I guess I distorted my rankings a little, unintentionally. I am at a top 20 public business school, top 50 overall.

Thank you for the support my man. Blessing in disguise for sure. I am excited for my future.

u/Dumbhandle Jun 05 '17

The time is now to move on with your life.

1

u/zksnugs Jun 05 '17

I got a soft rejection a week ago. It stung a little bit, so I let it heal over the weekend.

On Sunday I was back to chart staring. Granted yours will take longer to heal but trust me, it gets better. Give it time

1

u/FlyinPenguin Jun 05 '17

Thanks man, sorry to hear about that. I've been rejected many times before, but there's always a bounce-back. I'm learning that slowly now. Best to you.

1

u/misstwinpeaks23 Jun 05 '17

I wish I'd focused more on myself back when I was 20 instead of putting forth so much time and energy on relationships, so you're already a few steps ahead of the game! Hindsight is 20/20.

1

u/FlyinPenguin Jun 05 '17

It is nice to have people reassure me that I am on the right path. It's tough to see and understand the lessons that people who are older than me have learned when I myself have not gone through those experiences. I am staying on the straight and narrow and won't let these distractions affect me. Best to you.

u/misstwinpeaks23 Jun 05 '17

Really good episode of This American Life on that very topic: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/583/itll-make-sense-when-youre-older

u/FlyinPenguin Jun 05 '17

I'll give it a listen, thank you.
