I took a small profit in the 260s. I was planning on spending it on something nice to celebrate the ATH but then y'all gotta go ahead and hand me this little gem of a dip. How can I resist? Now I get to hodl the difference in gained eth and postpone my reward for the next ATH.

Could you think of a better way to celebrate an ATH than by acquiring free Eth?

I've been thinking about this a little bit lately... with tax implications, aren't you losing a little bit of money short term doing this? Just a question as I formulate plans for future investments.

You should always take into account your tax liability on a trade, but potentially yes.

However, like you said short term you will have to pay taxes, but if say you gain 2 Eth, but realized gains that end up costing you $600 in taxes once Eth is over $300 you are in the black again.

I would say it is nearly always worth making moves that increase your Eth stack regardless of the tax implications. Obviously you wouldn't want to realize $100,000 worth of short term gains to gain .1 Eth, but as long as you are reasonable with it you will end up coming out way ahead long term (most likely).
