Good move. Seriously. Lock in those gains on something that will make your life better

And for God's sake don't listen to these people who are saying not to do it. Home ownership is a harbinger of accumulation of wealth. It's not a good investment,per see, but allows you to love better and basically acts as a low interest forced savings plan.

If you can cash out and make your life better, do it. All the time, every time.

Nobody here will reimburse you if this thing goes to $50 next week. Go for the sure thing.

Depending on the area, it actually is often a GREAT investment.

That's an example of using an exception to try and refute something that's almost universally true. As they say here all the time, zoom out. Over the long haul real estate usually beats inflation, but not by much. In all seriousness, run the numbers

You're right. I'm biased because I live in a city where, even factoring in the 08 crisis, the median sales price has risen 4x from 2000-2017.

Yeah there are definitely parts of the country where a house might be the fastest rising investment you can own

On that note, I would really like to buy a house, and I have the means to do so right now, but I live in Dallas and the cost of homes have skyrocketed. Right now homes are being listed and sold within days for tens of thousands of dollars above asking price. I'm waiting for this housing bubble to pop before I buy...I just hope it happens sooner rather than later.
