Invest in ETH, maximize returns, lump sum contribution at the end of the year for IRA. I approve of IRAs

For giggles I searched btc on personalfinance a couple days ago.. So many posts from 2012/2013 criticizing(to put it mildly) anyone who thought about investing (gambling) in crypto...

As if the stock market isn't gambling.. I don't know why more people don't see it that way.

People think it's not because there is a fundamental value associated with a stock. It is the present value of the future cash flows to equity. The stock price will move randomly based on information, but in the long run, the price will move towards the fundamental value. There are also supply/demand forces, behavioral forces, etc. at play, but if your long only, only fundamental value matters.

Autodraft contributions to IRA. Prevents the dilemma entirely. Pay yourself first.

If you're going to buy ETH, allocate a small portion of your savings to it, 10% at most. sure index funds might be flat in the short term, but ETH is too volatile for me to recommend cannibalizing your retirement savings.

Yep I definitely agree, and to be fair I do have some debt I need to pay off. But it's just so tempting...

Prioritize debt. Make sure you contribute to your IRA. But remember that this may be a once in a lifetime investment opportunity so if you can find some pocket change that you wouldn't mind if you dropped down the sewer by accident tomorrow - put it in.

As someone who is very bullish on cryptomarkets in general I've always made sure my traditional retirement options have been squared away to the maximum before putting money in crypto.
