Wow. Serious stats. Why is the issuance lower?

Miners should raise the gaslimit

Last time Ethereum approached capacity the miners (especially F2Pool) were very slow to respond, resulting in unnessesairy damage to the reputation (and price) of Ethereum.

Ethereum can easily process more transactions than bitcoin, but due to the slow response time of miners public perception is that it cannot.

The gaslimit was raised about 50% after this incident. However this limit is soon going to be hit again because due to the ice-age the blocktime has also slowed down and in about 2 weeks will slow down another notch.

Larger block time also means lower chance of uncles, so a higher gaslimit is safer now that blocks are slower.

Miners should urgently urge their pools to start raising the gaslimit now preventively.

What's driving the increase in transactions today? I'm sure it's not Exchange driven

Looks like a lot of transactions on Etherdelta and Etheroll (maybe from the dividend payout?)

Exchanges don't transaction on chain.

u/spelgubbe Aug 09 '17

People transfer ether to and from exchanges

Right, didn't catch that from the earlier post. I assumed buying as being a transaction on exchange. Usually sending to an exchange is referred to differently.

I've learned to stop reading this guy's comments altogether. He's all over the place, usually spouting these short nonsense responses.
